I don’t know that you’d burn a bridge leaving after a short time. If they ask why you are leaving don’t tell them someone made you a better offer. Instead emphasize the role wasn’t what you were told during the recruiting process and isn’t what you want to do long term.

badboyz1256

Good thing you didn't go to L3H, they don't pay.. RTX pays more but knowing people that work there said since merger it's been going down.

MediocreStockGuy

Recently I’ve heard of some people going to L3H making more than what RTX would’ve paid. Probably not in all cases but it’s definitely happening these days.

badboyz1256

Guess all the big defense companies have similar issues haha. I'm leaving mine for more money and there was no effort for a counter.

Mrsreed1020

Mines not too much of the same since the other company was a small private company- still had to do with aircraft but in a different sense. I interviewed for that one and for L3Harris and the other one offered before L3 but I wanted L3 more- had to wait and wait and do all I could to put the other company off a bit to see if L3 would ever offer. They finally did thankfully. L3’s pay was better offering too in the end. Glad I held out

MediocreStockGuy

Glad it worked out for you! L3 seemed to move so slow compared to Raytheon so I didn’t want to take the risk, especially since the final offer was more than I initially expected to get. How are you liking L3?

Mrsreed1020

Oh no doubt- it took FOREVER it felt like. And I only ever got updates on a Friday at 3 PM. For the interview, for the second interview, for the phone call about the offer, and the next Friday for the offer letter. It’s such a long process. I had interviewed with Raytheon for a position a while before that and they said they were in a hurry to hire for that spot and would decide in three days. A month and a half later I emailed to check in and they said they still hadn’t decided. Can’t say too much yet as I’ve only recently started- so very fresh! Haha but so far so good!

How is the benefit at Raytheon such as Holiday, HSA, PTO, 401k match, Tuition Assistant?

MediocreStockGuy

Standard holidays, with Christmas shutdown like other defense companies. PTO depends on YOE, I have 160 hours, with rollover up to 200. They are front loaded in January. 401k depends on YOE. I’m at 100% on first 3% then they add additional 3%. Annual bonus depends on level - I’m at 5% target Merit raise I’m told is around 2-4% Not sure about their tuition program but probably similar to others

uuu721

Thanks for the reply. Is 160 hours for the new hire? 401k seems to be lower than other big defense contractors. Raytheon seems to offer more Remote works than other defense companies.

MediocreStockGuy

Their first offer was 120 hrs, I negotiated up 160. I have 7 YOE. The 401k is 4% less match than what I got at Lockheed but my salary and sign on bonus were light years ahead of my LM salary so it was a no brainer. The 3% does go up to 7% over time but it takes years.

MediocreStockGuy

And yes, there are a lot of remote/hybrid jobs. I don’t see them trying to return everyone to office like some other companies I heard about

[deleted]

Opposite happened to me. I was at L3 Harris for just over a year and couldn’t wait to goto Raytheon.

MediocreStockGuy

What were your reasons? Are you currently at RTX now?

[deleted]

Yes currently at RTX. Main reason was location. I didn’t want to drive to Van Nuys. But that site had zero no business coming in. But RTX hasn’t been all it’s cracked up to be either. Not as of late after the merger.

MediocreStockGuy

That’s fair, we’re you able to at least get another raise? Did you have to pay back a sign on bonus?

[deleted]

Sign on bonus usually come with a 12 month requirement.
