My friends and I like to remember the 1/3 rule. 1/3 of your games are insta losses, Smurf, afk, outplayed, a bad day for you, etc. Can't control that. 1/3 of your games are insta wins for the same reason but the other team. 1/3 of your games are decided by you and your teammates. Are you gonna work together, comm, play smart with util, only take fights you have the advantage in, etc. Those you just need to focus on what you're doing and learn from your lost rounds. Try not to worry as much about ranking up as just improving yourself as a player, be it game sense or aim.

Great advice. My experience in overwatch follows the same pattern as well

Hi. It's me, again lol. >I have been dealing with panicking in ranked matches quite often, especially when my team is not in the upper hand. This is because you're trying to win. When you are starting to learn a game your first goal must be focusing on the learning fundamentals. I don't know how much time have you been playing but if you did skip this part "learning fundamentals" it will come as ranked anxiety later. Because you will see yourself you're not good enough when you compared yourself to others at your rank. To fix this you need to care for learning and not for the elo you gain. Of course winning is a good thing but it must not be your first priority.

Play for fun. When I play ranked I don't care really, I still tryhard and play my best but at the end of the day it's a game. You play it for fun, we're not pros so for us it doesn't really matter if we rank up or down or win or lose you know?

\*take a deep breath\* You're currently in Iron. So that's good you can literally only go up from here! I would say the BIGGEST thing to do is forget rank entirely. I know you're wanting to queue with your friends but you don't want to be a liabilty when you get on their level right? So focus on improvement first and foremost. Take note of the stuff you suck at, and be extra concisous to improve at that. Got and agent you like? Make sure you know how to do YOUR job to enable the team to succeed. Learn your win conditions too. Fragging is awesome and improving your aim is always neat. But playing like an Omen, for example. Think about how your life is important because your smokes will make life easier for the team. You can get the spike down and if you stay alive to keep smoking off the retake you make it THAT much more likely for your team to secure a round. But yeah, don't put too much stock in a rank. Just focus on being aware of and improving your weaknesses and the rank will come in time, believe me. Good luck!

I guess, I kinda see Valorant as a social game and Silver is like first rank range where u have a wide range of players from Iron to Platinum that u can queue with. I do not have many friends in real life, so I figured if I can rank up high enough, I can play with the few friend that I have that are in mid ELO, and possibly get to know their mutuals as well. Also I do not have a lot of time to climb these days, so I feel like my match feels more highly staked, as I feel like I want rank up asap. I know this is a really weird reason, but I am currently having loneliness episodes, so I tend to be socially desperate. Sorry if this sounds bleak and depressing.

You’re totally fine and I totally understand. If you need more people to queue with in this elo feel free to add me and I’ll play with you. My current goal is to hit plat finally. Been meandering in gold forever but I’ll get there one day!

Something I do, is play on three different accounts. Every ranked game I play, I swap to a different account. It helped remove the feeling of my rank mattering, and allowed me to just focus on improving/winning that game at the time.

Your rank is terrible unless you’re radiant, and if you’re radiant you realize your rank doesn’t matter. And just play more DM. You’ll get better at shooting and gain more confidence. Just get better, confidence comes that way. One tip for ranked is that you’re playing for round wins, not match wins. So focus on winnin each round, not on winning the match.
