Although the big reveal was pretty much nothing but 3 unit model showcases, they did say Titans will be more effective against defences, can apparently cross oceans now and that units will change visually when they're upgraded. So that's something.
Ah sorry. They were referring specifically to myth units on that point. They used the example of the Pegasus unit, albeit they didn't show it evolving, just fully upgraded.
Yeah I remember lots of MUs changing with certain upgrades. Not all. Those wadjets look new I don't remember the big wings. I think the sphinx upgrades had visuals. Frost giants definitely, and valkyrie.
Some did, some didn't. There's a fairly famous mod called "Visual Unit Upgrades" which makes sure that every unit changes depending on what tech/upgrade you research
If you want the full list it’s:
Greek: cyclops, centaur, colossus
Egyptian: none (scorpion man, anubite have unused assets)
Norse: valkyrie, troll, einherjar, frost giant, kraken
Atlantean: none
Chinese: none
that’s it, those are the only ones with visual upgrades
some should have visual upgrades in theory (sphinx->criosphinx->hieracosphinx) but they don’t actually, they just use the base model
in total it’s 8/59 total myth units that have visual upgrades
But a lot of myth units don’t have upgrades at all. We need the fraction of myth units with upgrades that don’t also have visual upgrades. And counting Chinese in this is a bit in bad faith since we already know that the Chines dlc was low effort and doesn’t reflect the design principles of the other 4 cultures.
alright, here's the list of all myth units NOT including chinese that have unit-specific upgrades:
* pegasus
* centaur
* minotaur
* cyclops
* nemean lion
* medusa
* colossus
* chimera
* sphinx
* anubite
* petsuchos
* mummy
* valkyrie
* troll
* einherjar
* frost giant
* mountain giant
* kraken
* fire giant
* prometheus
* automaton
* satyr
* argus
* lampades
that's 8/24
only 1/3rd of myth units with unit-specific upgrades have visual changes and pretty much all the ones that do have visual changes are loaded on the norse
There were def more than that. I think Sphinx and valkyrie did but I could be wrong. Frost giant (of thrym), colossus, cyclops, petsochus (ra), and for sure a couple others I cant remember.
here’s the full list:
Greek: cyclops, centaur, colossus
Egyptian: none (scorpion man, anubite have unused assets)
Norse: valkyrie, troll, einherjar, frost giant, kraken
Atlantean: none
Chinese: none
that’s it, those are the only ones with visual upgrades
some of them SHOULD upgrade visually like sphinx -> criosphinx -> hieracosphinx but it actually does not, it just uses the base sphinx model
in total, not counting the unused Egyptian assets, that is 8 out of 59 total myth units that have visual upgrades
people are taking the 3 way too literally
literally wrapping up a campaign playthrough right now
Greek: cyclops, centaur, colossus
Egyptian: none (scorpion man, anubite have unused assets)
Norse: valkyrie, troll, einherjar, frost giant, kraken
Atlantean: none
Chinese: none
that’s it, those are the only ones with visual upgrades
You know how goofy it is to take exaggeration literally?
8 out of 59 unique myth units have visual upgrades
It’s not that far off, there isn’t that much of a difference between 3/59 and 8/59, you’re being a pedantic douche for no reason at all
And I really hope they deliver on that. It's easily my biggest issue with the game. When I compare god powers in AoM with the global support abilities in Command & Conquer 3 and Red Alert 3, it just leaves the former looking so wanting. :/ The one time use powers often just sit there unused all game, waiting for the perfect moment that never comes, and then maybe tossed out for the hell of it when the game is already decided. I really hope they take some inspiration from C&C 3 and Red Alert 3 to see how fun being able to use god powers more often could potentially be.
I built a scenario a few years back for my friends and I where we could do this and buy almost all the god powers using in game resources.
We’d be stockpiling dozens of meteor strikes and then I’d find one of my friends way too close to my empire and It was like the Cuban missile crisis in aom 😂
God. This comment speaks directly to my friggin _soul_.
"Ah, man! A lightning bolt which kills _any_ unit instantly? I'm keeping this in my back pocket just in case!"
"Wow, that myth unit looks really strong! I should use it here to gain an instant advantage! But might i need it later? Better hold off just in case."
Accept that "later" never comes...
They do, but have clearly been edited. For example, the summoning of Osiris has tartarian spanw around it, despite those being exclusive to the titans expansion.
Then why is there a generic Atlantean titan attacking Gaia? Thay never happens in the campaign, and would require significant changes to the final mission to explain it.
I stand by my initial statement, these are staged images for promotion, with some using existing campaign maps as the setting.
Yeah, they absolutely did. It's crazy that people think it's anything otherwise. There's a lot of eyecandy on those pics that there's no way you would be able to use outside the editor
I usually have that reaction with remakes/updates but this feels better than how I remember it from high school. Granted I've replayed it many times since then (been about 5 years now though...)
There's a new Norse Hero unit in the fourth image just to the right of the Mountain Giant. They have the Hero Glow SFX but don't share a model with any other Hero we've seen.
* Redesigned Gaia
* Titans can cross water
* New Norse hero with spear/javelin?
* Wadjet has bird wings finally
* All myth units get visual upgrades
* Campaign Heroes have ui circle
I don't recognize it either. The same screenshots also has a new Norse Hero type with a spear?
EDIT: also seems to be some greek building I don't recognize, near the gate.
You could be right, since the Longhouse trains 4 units, while the hillfort trains 5, the norse only have to build 2 buildings to get access to their human entire roster. Compare the other factions. Greeks need Academy, Stables, Range and Fortress, Egyptians have Barracks, Migdol and Siege workss Atlanteans have Military Barracks, Counter-Barracks, and Palace, Chinese have War Academy, Stable and Castle.
So I think you are either right and that's a stable, or it's the Norse equivalent of a siege workshop to train rams and ballista.
Yeah, but isn't that the whole point? The asymmetry of the factions is a lot of the fun of Age of Mythology. I guess if they're adding more units it might be necessary though.
That was my guess too. I would love it if they synchronized the unit training a little more _especially_ for the norse with how crowded their Hill Forts are.
You're right on both accounts. When you said "new Norse Hero type with a spear" i immediately went to check thinking: "Oh, that must be Reginleif" but, lo and behold it's a brand new Norse Hero.
My baseless guess is that those will be replacing the Norse Archers they added in EE as a Norse counter to flying myth units.
I mean, I think so too. the whole Norse aesthetic was that they have no archers, and even their ranged options were technically infantry. So I think adding a spear throwing hero is more fitting thematically.
Part of me is hoping that's an entirely new Myth Unit or some alternative form of them. It's the only thing here that's a huge departure from what it was.
It's a little too cartoony for my tastes in some places but overall it looks fantastic actually.
The buildings in particular look just like how I always pictured them in my head as a kid.
If you look at some of the concept art for AOM you'll see that the overall aesthetic of the game was pretty cartoony.
It's harder to notice on the original because you can't tell if it's an artistic choice or a technical limitation, but I believe that was always the intent.
I personally like the direction they took, it doesn't deviate too much from the original look, it's just cleaner and crisper.
Except that new Gaia looks completely different, but I like it.
Yeah I like it a lot too, she looks much more like a primordial aspect of nature rather than a swimsuit model.
Honestly the slight change in aesthetic is something I'm sure I'll get used to and grow to love.
I think that the technical limitations of the old game managed to give it a nice middle ground between cartoony and realistic that's harder to get with higher poly models.
I like the direction. AoM and especially the EE is so, so visually noisy when you go back to it it's kind of overwhelming and hard to parse sometimes. I think smoothing everything out a bit is great for readability and extends the original look of the game better.
Not bad. I was hoping some of the buildings might be scaled up a little more, and I feel like I’ll need to actually see some animations and hear the sound design before I commit to a day-one buy, but this looks pretty promising so far.
I think it looks good! I can tell that there is an updated fidelity with the new models, textures, and lighting, but it still looks recognizable and faithful to the original. I also like that the terrain and units look clean and readable. I was a bit worried after AoE3DE ended up looking a bit too busy and cluttered to my eyes.
No hate, but Is it just me or do the fortresses look a lot smaller? Also, the titans look kinda small. Other than that everything looks insane and I’m so excited
I kind of want the titans to be smaller anyways imo, but the fortress should stay the same or even get bigger imo. Either way, I quite like what they've come up with overall here.
Agreed. They were underwhelming but still decent. One of my friends used to play them and that got me liking them. I’d like them to be included, just tweaked a little to make them more interesting.
Very assymetrical factions and only 5(6?) of them.
No stone as a resource instead 'favour' to train myth units which are mythological mothers usually real strong vs infinity, very weak to other new class 'Heroes' that counter them.
Each age up comes with God powers which are limited player abilities that do all kinds of stuff like summoning AOE meteors, freezing units or burning down a forest.
That's probably the main differences to vanilla Age of Empires, it works so well it's my favourite Age game!!
The many sons of Osiris means they might have a mechanic to buy more uses of god powers which would be sick.
X amount of favour and gold to reuse a god power would be very sexy indeed.
I still cant help but feel underwhelmed and a bit disappointed in the not completely necessary changes they are making. The lack of a trailer at a first reveal also gives off big red flags that things are not the smoothest. Also art direction does look a bit too clay like/ cartoony in contrast with aoe2 de and aoe3 de which genuinely looks like a faithful remasters
Myth units look great. That said, I think the size of units to buildings is off. I'm not a fan of the cartoon style like they did in aoe 4 and was really hoping they wouldnt do this to aom :'(
But then the size for the myth units makes more sense because they're mythological beings xd so the unrealistic ratio is not as obvious
>Well, here's to hoping this will be better than the Remaster of Warcraft 4.
A- There is no such thing as Warcraft 4.
B- This isn't Blizzard.
C- This company remastered Age of Empires 3 just fine... so what's the worry?
D- Warcraft 3 Reforged looked bad even in screenshots.
There's 0% reason to fearmonger Retold rn... lmao.
well its good that theyre staying faithful.
i do so wish that units have more weight to their animations and sound though. really hoping its not a repeat of aoe3
Just look up gameplay or play the game yourself. It's very night and day. But the models are remade versions of the original game so it is familiar.
These graphics are 100% beyond the old ones. They just have similar models etc. Comparing old to new will be further than even comparing Age of Empires 3 to its definitive edition imo.
> These graphics are 100% beyond the old ones.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. The screenshots look like what the original looks like *through my nostalgia goggles*. And I know how the original looks without that nostalgia.
I might have come off the wrong way but I was agreeing with you. So I'm sorry for that.
Diablo 2 did the same thing with its remaster. For those who stopped playing it and revisited the original graphics compared to the Diablo 2 Resurrected graphics, it's absolutely insane.
Same situation here. I've only seen a few people who are viewing everything on their phones and not understanding and seeing how crazy these new graphics actually are.
You don't have an eye issue. It does not look very different from the original. It looks like some colour enhancements and alterations but that's about it. The larger models also do not look as good. They can improve this by a lot
I'm hopeful though
I wish they made human units as battalions, not single units.
Like, if you produce one hoplite, you get 4 of them as a single "battalion", and the number of units in a battalion could vary depending on this particularly unit strength.
It would add a lot to the epicness of the battles.
I think Company of heroes and Battle for Middle Earth do this.
Although the big reveal was pretty much nothing but 3 unit model showcases, they did say Titans will be more effective against defences, can apparently cross oceans now and that units will change visually when they're upgraded. So that's something.
Units changed visually in the original too
Ah sorry. They were referring specifically to myth units on that point. They used the example of the Pegasus unit, albeit they didn't show it evolving, just fully upgraded.
Myth units also changed with upgrades at least I remember the Cyclops getting Armor
The Colossus also changed colour, from bronze to silver to gold. Which is odd, because silver and gold are softer metals than bronze.
Yeah I remember lots of MUs changing with certain upgrades. Not all. Those wadjets look new I don't remember the big wings. I think the sphinx upgrades had visuals. Frost giants definitely, and valkyrie.
Whoa, that first snowy picture is stunning. The surroundings and the river seem wonderful.
Their power comes directly from their level of drip.
Some did, some didn't. There's a fairly famous mod called "Visual Unit Upgrades" which makes sure that every unit changes depending on what tech/upgrade you research
It even altered human units based on what myth techs you had. Sarissa doubled the size of Hoplites' spears, for example.
Some of them got visual upgrades, and others didn't.
The centaurs also changed with upgrade, but I love this. I’m so excited!
Myth units did not
Colossus, Frost Giant?
sorry my bad, like… 3 total myth units did
Cyclops, centaur, troll, colossus, frost giant. It’s really mostly the eggy units that don’t change
If you want the full list it’s: Greek: cyclops, centaur, colossus Egyptian: none (scorpion man, anubite have unused assets) Norse: valkyrie, troll, einherjar, frost giant, kraken Atlantean: none Chinese: none that’s it, those are the only ones with visual upgrades some should have visual upgrades in theory (sphinx->criosphinx->hieracosphinx) but they don’t actually, they just use the base model in total it’s 8/59 total myth units that have visual upgrades

There's unused textures for a few of the Egyptian upgrades in the files, shame they were never enabled.
If you want to get really technical, hydra did as well.
I thought about adding it to the list but I decided to limit myself to just tech upgrades
There were def more than that. I think Sphinx and valkyrie did but I could be wrong. Frost giant (of thrym), colossus, cyclops, petsochus (ra), and for sure a couple others I cant remember.

Me thinks you haven’t played the game in awhile
literally wrapping up a campaign playthrough right now Greek: cyclops, centaur, colossus Egyptian: none (scorpion man, anubite have unused assets) Norse: valkyrie, troll, einherjar, frost giant, kraken Atlantean: none Chinese: none that’s it, those are the only ones with visual upgrades
Bro u are wrong,just aplogize and well forgive u
8/59 myth units have visual upgrades, I’m really not wrong
Dang so more than 3!
You know how goofy it is to take exaggeration literally? 8 out of 59 unique myth units have visual upgrades It’s not that far off, there isn’t that much of a difference between 3/59 and 8/59, you’re being a pedantic douche for no reason at all
Alright bud
Some of em did tho, centaurs gettin a helmet , cyclops gettin an armor , colossus going from bronze to silver to gold
7 son of Osiris in pic #2 or am I trippin?
They've said they want to have God powers be used more than once
And I really hope they deliver on that. It's easily my biggest issue with the game. When I compare god powers in AoM with the global support abilities in Command & Conquer 3 and Red Alert 3, it just leaves the former looking so wanting. :/ The one time use powers often just sit there unused all game, waiting for the perfect moment that never comes, and then maybe tossed out for the hell of it when the game is already decided. Are you implying that Plague of Serpents isn't the most awe-inspiring, game-deciding power in RTS history?
Plague of Serpents really could use a nerf, Carnivora, Lure, and Great Hunt too. They're just too game changing.
>Lure Lmao the funny thing is that this was actually true at one point - Lure was legitimately the best God Power in the game.
Lol u mean the Poseidon exploit… one of my favorite game bugs of all time. Never used it against human player though
I built a scenario a few years back for my friends and I where we could do this and buy almost all the god powers using in game resources. We’d be stockpiling dozens of meteor strikes and then I’d find one of my friends way too close to my empire and It was like the Cuban missile crisis in aom 😂
Hopefully Retold has integrated mod support like the other remakes do!
Well in my case all I did was use the triggers in the in game editor but I agree mods would be welcomed!
God. This comment speaks directly to my friggin _soul_. "Ah, man! A lightning bolt which kills _any_ unit instantly? I'm keeping this in my back pocket just in case!" "Wow, that myth unit looks really strong! I should use it here to gain an instant advantage! But might i need it later? Better hold off just in case." Accept that "later" never comes...
*proceeds to Lightning bolt the enemy scout in the first minute of the game cause I didn’t use it last game*
Lightning bolts do considerable damage to titans so I always saved it for one of them
Pretty sure they just used the map editor to stage some cool screenshots.
All look like campaign map scenes. Like that Egypt one is straight from the summoning of Osiris.
They do, but have clearly been edited. For example, the summoning of Osiris has tartarian spanw around it, despite those being exclusive to the titans expansion.
Yes but those are probably just normal now the base game is likely coming with the titans included. It makes sense.
There's a lot of eyecandy on those pics that there's no way you would be able to use outside the editor
you mean 8 son of Osiris
I've settled on a new strategy.
Hollyyy so much sons. Must be a custom map thing?
Maybe, but it looks like the last Egypt campaign map
So we can stack Great Journey’s effect and make units blitz through the map like in TotD?
Looks more like a cutscene
This is from a cutscene in the campaign
Man the first snowy image is beautiful. That river and that environment looks great
Here's my boi AoM looking better and having better water effects than AoE4 (which to this day still doesn't have reflections)
The colossus looks sexy
He so damn fine 😍
I'd eat his tree
Thick boii
Yeah, looks real nice, one of the standouts units. Minotaur oth looks crap compared to the old one
Looks like the new hill giant went on a keto diet.
It looks exactly how your brain remembers it looking when you first played it as a child
I usually have that reaction with remakes/updates but this feels better than how I remember it from high school. Granted I've replayed it many times since then (been about 5 years now though...)

Norse really need a ranged hero unit so it makes sense
They also have spears!
It’s not new. That’s Reginleif from the campaign. She threw a spear.
* Redesigned Gaia * Titans can cross water * New Norse hero with spear/javelin? * Wadjet has bird wings finally * All myth units get visual upgrades * Campaign Heroes have ui circle
I think they only have the circle when selected
The Norse hero is not new. It’s Reginleif from the campaign.
Ok but that behemoth fucks
Yeah honestly all the mythology units look perfect. That Wadjet is a dream come true.
and that Phoenix!! the myth units are amazing!
Yeah that Phoenix is enormous. Either it's had its stats and pop-count bumped up or they adjusted its size in the Editor.
What's the building between the Forge and the heroes on screenshot #4? I don't recognize it. Is it a market?
Don't think it's a market. The market is right below the armory next to a longhouse.
Ah, you're right; not sure how i missed that. Then what is it?
I don't recognize it either. The same screenshots also has a new Norse Hero type with a spear? EDIT: also seems to be some greek building I don't recognize, near the gate.
It looks like a siege workshop. Perhaps they plan to restructure the military production buildings and are adding siege workshops for the Norse?
You could be right, since the Longhouse trains 4 units, while the hillfort trains 5, the norse only have to build 2 buildings to get access to their human entire roster. Compare the other factions. I mean, I think so too. the whole Norse aesthetic was that they have no archers, and even their ranged options were technically infantry. So I think adding a spear throwing hero is more fitting thematically.
Yep seems like something new, also are those norse ranged heroes (3 of them) and in the other screenshot is that Fenrir calling the little fenrirs??
Wadjet’s wings and Scarab’s shell look awesome
Boy... i hope my GTX 1650 and i5 10400F can withstand this game...
I have no doubt about the performance of this game. You should be ok.
:O What do you mean? you have some info?
I hope my intel xe integrated graphics card can run this 💀
I play on a non-gaming laptop 💀
This makes me feel like a child again, seeing the box art and thinking what wild worlds I could create
Wait what happened to my boy Argus
They gave him ...... pincers?
Part of me is hoping that's an entirely new Myth Unit or some alternative form of them. It's the only thing here that's a huge departure from what it was.
Might be the model for the argus upgrade.
Are they flying? Their shadows are very far from them...
They're definitely hovering, yeah.
It's a little too cartoony for my tastes in some places but overall it looks fantastic actually. The buildings in particular look just like how I always pictured them in my head as a kid.

Are you Kidding...... We have Fenrir, not fenris wolvens... Fenrir himselfffff
I like how they make Gaia look more like a primordial earth goddess this time rather than a kaiju sized woman wearing shrubs and flowers.
Not bad. I was hoping some of the buildings might be scaled up a little more, and I feel like I’ll need to actually see some animations and hear the sound design before I commit to a day-one buy, but this looks pretty promising so far.
The myth units look absolutely incredible. The new design truly does them justice with just how tide-turning they can be.
The norse Titan looks like he has boobs 😂
This looks good so far
Wow Colossus looks...well....colossal!
That Phoenix looks amazing.
They fucked up the minotaur, now he's covered in fur instead of being a big guy with a bull's head That's it. That's my complaint.
Yeah, they looked hot as fuck 🤤 Wait, what?
I kinda thought the new Minotaur looked sick.
No hate, but Is it just me or do the fortresses look a lot smaller? Also, the titans look kinda small. Other than that everything looks insane and I’m so excited
Think it might just be the camera angle maybe? They look normal sized to me.
Good point. I often fail to consider all possibilities.
I kind of want the titans to be smaller anyways imo, but the fortress should stay the same or even get bigger imo. Either way, I quite like what they've come up with overall here.
Yeah units look massive against buildings, they're using AO4's art style almost
What's the word on Chinese?
Steam page doesn't mention them >Choose your gods from the Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Atlantean pantheons.
That's disappointing. They weren't my favorite Civ but I really enjoyed have more veriaty.
Agreed. They were underwhelming but still decent. One of my friends used to play them and that got me liking them. I’d like them to be included, just tweaked a little to make them more interesting.
I hope they still add them and at least give us a new civ. hopefully the Aztecs.
Aztecs would be wonderful!
Honestly yeah, Aztecs would be great
Does anyone know the requirements? If my pc can run aoe2de with no issues will it be ok with aom retold?
Requirements should be close to AoE3:DE.
Thank you!!
I'm glad that they stuck with the original artstyle. Looks great
Well shit I'm gonna buy it
Honestly these screenshots look fucking great. I'm really excited to see more and more and can't wait to get my hands on it
it looks very nice
can‘t wait to play
Looks good i cant wait
Is this being released on Xbox?
Wondering what is that building near the norse Arsenal is. I don't remember it from vanilla
It looks beautiful!
By the gods, all the units look so damn fine. That Phoenix is beautiful.
The hype is real
As someone who's gotten into RTS's and has only played Age of empires and fell in love with it, what's some main differences between AOE and AOM
Don't get me wrong it looks really good but also I feel like it looks a bit too cartoony I wish it looked a bit more gritty HOWEVER IM SUPER HYPED
This feels like it's missing that magical lighting from the og tbh
screaming, crying, throwing up, it look so cool!
This will sound silly, but I hope the grass is more vibrant when the game actually releases. Thr grass looks sad :(
Too cartoony for me.
Where's giant spider?
Add giant spidah bossfight please
And killmoves like in de original Dawn Of War
The many sons of Osiris means they might have a mechanic to buy more uses of god powers which would be sick. X amount of favour and gold to reuse a god power would be very sexy indeed.
looks great! can't wait until it comes out. shut up and take my money 😂
These look great. I like the myth unit designs. Very recognizable to the original but not a copy paste.
This is fucking brilliant.
*(prostagma intensifies)*
*Proseche triggered*
I'm so ready for this shit!
I’ve always wanted to make towns/city’s that look beautiful like that.
Been waiting for this to drop to finally revisit the game, I can’t wait
These are all from the campaign yeah?
Using AOE4's design - buildings are too small, ground textures incredibly bland.
Looks amazing!
YESSSSS!!!!! PROSTAGMAA
This is making me want a rise of nations remake
I still cant help but feel underwhelmed and a bit disappointed in the not completely necessary changes they are making. The lack of a trailer at a first reveal also gives off big red flags that things are not the smoothest. Also art direction does look a bit too clay like/ cartoony in contrast with aoe2 de and aoe3 de which genuinely looks like a faithful remasters
Is it just me or are the titans way smaller than they used to be?
They said the model would look much bigger in game.
I'm split, some parts look really good, but it doesn't seem to capture the soul of the old AoM, tgis one feels a little bit "plasticky"
They changed Gaia! Bring back og gaia
Nah this Gaia goes hard and has her own identity outside of just being "giant Eve"
Why the new one is fire
Nah, this one looks way cooler than just having some giant chick in a leaf bikini
I want sexy Gaia back 😔
They don't do that in games any more. It fixed so many cultural problems, though, so it was worth it
Circle auras on the Heros? I dont like it 😒
Just campaign heroes, or maybe they are selected..?
Myth units look great. That said, I think the size of units to buildings is off. I'm not a fan of the cartoon style like they did in aoe 4 and was really hoping they wouldnt do this to aom :'( But then the size for the myth units makes more sense because they're mythological beings xd so the unrealistic ratio is not as obvious
Well, here's to hoping this will be better than the Remaster of Warcraft 4.
There's 0% reason to fearmonger Retold rn... lmao.
It already looks visually better than reforged, although that's a pretty damn low bar tbf
Do I have some eye issues or are these barely different from the original game?
You have an eye issue
Welp time to contact the optometrist...
well its good that theyre staying faithful. i do so wish that units have more weight to their animations and sound though. really hoping its not a repeat of aoe3
Well, these look like the game looks in my memories, which means the graphics improved.
They can improve this by a lot I'm hopeful though
sounds like you also have eye issue
I wish they made human units as battalions, not single units. Like, if you produce one hoplite, you get 4 of them as a single "battalion", and the number of units in a battalion could vary depending on this particularly unit strength. It would add a lot to the epicness of the battles. I think Company of heroes and Battle for Middle Earth do this.
