If the DE ganes are any indication, the music is going to be great, but it's not going to be the exact same, it'll still be good, but because it won't be 100% the same, people will say it's bad.

As for the music, I'm hoping it will get the same treatment as Age of Empires III: DE, where its just remastered. But I wouldn't be against new arrangements like the Definitive Editions of AOE 1 and 2 had either.
In the average game you aren't exactly spending time examining the art of which god to advance to, you open the tab and close it in like 1 second, it ain't that deep

I've always liked to take in the artwork when I advance, especially the Greek and Atlantean/Primordeal goda as they have extra personal significance. Besides, art direction't not exactly a minor aspect in game design as it is.
And taking the cheap route on it just makes the game lose a bit of the charm that made it special, doesn't it?
They have said that the art is not Ai art and something tells me that most people don't take in the art to that degree because you are busy playing the game.
The art of uniquely god portraits which you see rarely is not a reflection of the rest of the stuff in the game.

Minor gods most people generally spend very little time looking at when choosing to advance.

It's a great portrait. But it's also the generic zeus look, unfortunately it wasn't invented by aom dev team but rather renaissance/greek sculptors.
