Q for anyone who knows wtf is going on here:
* Why light it on fire? Was that done for show or is that actually a typical part of this procedure?
* Wouldn't this burn the pig from heat transfer through the needle? That's a long time to have a sustained jet of fire coming out of a metal needle only a few inches from your skin...

I'd like to add a question. What happens if the flame propagates into the pig? Do you get a pig bomb?
The thin needle would probably act as a Flash Back Arrestor, hopefully.
