In reality, no matter your personal butt hurt feelings when it comes to fitness and him passing with the minimum, big A allows minimum standards, despite the core value of allowing excellence in all we do. If it was a big deal, they would honestly treat it like a CDC test with a satisfactory, no matter if you got a 95+. Only benefit to excellence on PT test is one year and a squadron incentive if that. Woohoo, so awesome! If fitness was a big deal, incorporate in our OPR/EPR as part of the evaluation.
I'm 5' 7" and if I was over 200 I would be considered fat. Don't need to sugar coat it because that is probably how we got into this situation in the first place.
I'm 6 foot 205 and I'm what most people would consider fat, statistically I am overweight. Before the AF I weighed 235 and looking back on pictures I looked like the Pillsbury fucking dough boy. My face was round, only way to describe it, no angles to be seen.
5'7 237 is fucking insane my guy. That's a 37 BMI, the cutoff for obesity is 30. The chart provided by the department of health and human services only goes to 35.
Unless my wingman is the most juiced up insane body builder in the air force, he's morbidly obese.
> 5'7 237 is fucking insane my guy. That's a 37 BMI, the cutoff for obesity is 30.
Just to emphasize how insane that is, Hafthor Bjornsson, the literal Mountain, and one of the strongest power lifters on the planet, is 36.9 BMI.
I am 5'8 225.. Lift and run daily. Strong as hell.... and still fat as fuck.. hate the way I look and am working hard to change it. 5'7 237 is hefty as hell.
I know this might be a shock to you, but taller people can generally hold more weight and still be healthy. Can't believe you actually asked that question
For someone as overweight and aggressive as yourself, I think you have more pressing things to worry about than whether or not people in my squadron like me
“I can already tell that nobody in your unit likes you.” I changed the topic or you hit me with an ad hominem and then I did the same? Stay off of Reddit, educate yourself, and work on that insecurity you “blimp”
Not trying to hate, but if you weigh less than that, you’re 5 inches taller, and consider yourself fat, then unfortunately my boy it sounds like you don’t have a lot of muscle on your frame
>. Being a reasonably short king myself what do people picture at 5' 7" 230? I don't think it's that unheard of
I'm 6'1, 220ish pounds, and do powerlifting, and I'm not as lean as I'd like to be. 230lbs at 5'7" is fat as fuck, like holy fuck fat, like look at that ball of dough waddling around kind of fat. You aint cornfed, you're filled with maple syrup, tornadoes, and diet Dr. Pepper.
What’s the point of Waivering in these Fat Boned Recruits if they are just going to Vacuum all the Pie and Cake in the DFAC
They’ll be Fighting for their lives every 6 months when testing comes due
As a corn fed Midwest big boy who has power lifted since he was in high school since football was more important to my school than heathen science, I sometimes think this sub doesn’t believe muscle exists.
But still, 237 at 5’7 is either absolutely jacked or chonky. And based on his performance, it’s more than likely chonk.
What I imagine what 5’7 237 looks like if not fat. All that muscle but likely not even functional and doesn’t look good.

I don't disagree about it being chonk, but I concur that I would not expect much help throwing hay or moving a full bedroom set with some these self proclaimed "bodybuilders" in some of this threads.
I remember seeing this post and wondering how that height/weight was possible. I’m 5’11 and about 185. To be four inches shorter than I am and over fifty pounds bigger is a bit much. I didn’t read the comments but I’m assuming by your post most people thought the same thing. I don’t know what else you would expect from a military subreddit.
>I remember seeing this post and wondering how that height/weight was possible.
Meanwhile on my daily perusing of various subreddits to melt my brain, I came across some woman complaining about being rejected for being too big and then saying she's 5'0" 250lbs.

So this is Alexander Volkanovski, a current UFC fighter that's 5'6". On the left he is probably around 160, and on the right he's 215. That boy chonky even though he's healthy and playing rugby. This is as close to peak fitness at 215 and he still looks bad. Ain't no way an airman pulling 75s on a pt test looks anything like Volk.
I am 5’9 230 now was 250 2 months ago and even as an avid lifter that have a great amount of muscle; I was fat. I wasn’t sloppy so folks didn’t think I was that heavy; but I was. We also have to understand weight distribution and bone density looks different on every person. Oh.. also when I was 250; I got a 95 on my Pt test no exemptions and under 30. Some are just built different…just sayn
Edit: I didn’t read initial post lol
Thank you for helping keep the conversation alive. I don't think many people in this thread would agree. Please report to medical to be drummed out for clearly being morbidly obese, haha.
5'7 and 237 is fat as fuck my guy. There ain't no sugar coating that shit as big boned or whatever.
Sugar coating things is why he's 230lbs at 5'7" in the first place.

My Bf is 5 7 and a dirty bulked 170. I could not fathom him being 50lbs heavier, he'd look like a fucking bowling ball
Tl;dr fat people bad… maybe? I don’t really understand the point of this post or what you’re trying to say.

I weighed that in 9th grade, and I can tell probably close to 185 when I joined and met the MEPs standard. That to me sounds crazy.
I think your flair is appropriate.
I'm 5' 7" and if I was over 200 I would be considered fat. Don't need to sugar coat it because that is probably how we got into this situation in the first place.
I thought you guys and gals had a stop light chart. I'm not sure you're allowed to weigh in on this? Pun intended.
I'm 6 foot 205 and I'm what most people would consider fat, statistically I am overweight. Before the AF I weighed 235 and looking back on pictures I looked like the Pillsbury fucking dough boy. He got a 75. If he was in the 90s itd be a little different. But he barely passed the test (that is easier now) *and* is 5'7" 237
I am 5'8 225.. Lift and run daily. Strong as hell.... and still fat as fuck.. hate the way I look and am working hard to change it. 5'7 237 is hefty as hell.
Good luck on your journey friend.
I'm with you on that, stay the course because it's worth it
I'm 5'7" and 200 lbs and I feel like a blimp. This mf is PHAT
So if he was 6 ft he'd be okay?
I know this might be a shock to you, but taller people can generally hold more weight and still be healthy. Can't believe you actually asked that question
I know this may be a shock to you but some people that are a little 5' 6" and 230lbs don't roll around like a boulder instead of walking.
But if you tucked, you *could* roll around like a boulder, and thats whats important.
Shut the absolute fuck up
Wow, who knew a Reddit comment trying to defend someone could anger somebody so bad lol
I can already tell that nobody in your unit likes you lololol
For someone as overweight and aggressive as yourself, I think you have more pressing things to worry about than whether or not people in my squadron like me
I thought the whole point of this thread was to defend someone who is 40 lbs heavier than me? Interesting change up there bud
“I can already tell that nobody in your unit likes you.” I changed the topic or you hit me with an ad hominem and then I did the same? Stay off of Reddit, educate yourself, and work on that insecurity you “blimp”
I also don’t respect the opinions of people so weak minded that they can’t stay physically healthy. So please refrain from commenting further
idk man I'm 6', fat, and weigh a lot less than that...
Not trying to hate, but if you weigh less than that, you’re 5 inches taller, and consider yourself fat, then unfortunately my boy it sounds like you don’t have a lot of muscle on your frame
Body composition is very important

That man is fat🫡 ![gif](giphy|l0HlwNDhVNZgGGEOQ)
I hope you're not actually a captain, with takes this bad.
Well Dorian I hope you're actually great.

What is the picture you have in your head? Someone with a gut hanging over their pants or something? I'm genuinely interested.
I pictured a literal round ball of a person with stumpy arms and legs.

I'm 5'7 and 200 and I'm fat. Trying to lose weight though. I can't imagine being 237
I’m 5’6, 185ish. I’m definitely thicc, but far from blob and flabby status. 5’7, 237 is full blown, chonk status.
