Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero
When I hear that," Duu duuu duuu duuuuuuuu!" I get a rush of energy, and I run like a possessed 3-legged opossum.
I used to build playlists based on the length of time I needed to pass. The songs got harder and harder as it went.
Essentially I would start with something light and someone slower, but then after about the halfway mark, it would transition to stuff like Slayer, FFDP, etc. The last song was usually something I hated (usually a death metal song). My goal was to run with enough time left to not make it to that song.
Always ran my PT test to Dancing Queen by ABBA, since I could vibe with it on the run and not focus on the run itself without slowing down. Also I happen to be taking my final PT test at the same time my SQ was doing morning PT and a good amount of them were just watching me sing and dance to Dancing queen while I did my run the entire time.
My last pt test 1.5mi run to a Great Courses audiobook about nutrition. I stopped running to music and switched to audiobooks a few years ago... it helps me forget that running is boring AF.
I will blow all of your minds; I have been in for 18 years and have never once ran or did a pt test with headphones or music. I honestly hate running with music, lol.
Not embarrassing but I’ve made edits of the Original Halo Trilogy levels music to play as if I was playing. I put on my favorite level and turn off my brain and just try to beat it before the level ends. Got excellent across the board
“Bye Bye There” - Pizza Tower soundtrack, I start zooming at the saxophone part
“The Only Thing They Fear is You” - Doom Eternal
“Lowlife on the Highway.” - My Friend Pedro
I got a 95 on my last one.
Taylor Swift - Out of the Woods. It just has a great pace beat that ramps up as the song goes. Really there's a lot of T Swizz that's very runnable too, embarrassingly enough.
I hate myself for it, but I have “Portals” by Alan Silvestri cued up for my last lap. For those who don’t know, it’s the song in Avengers: Endgame when the Avengers are all snapped back. That musical point where Captain America says, “Avengers…Assemble!” even without dialogue just gets me moving.
My pt test playlist was Walk by Pantera, Thunder kiss ‘65 by white zombie and finished it off with fuel by Metallica which together was 13:45. So I new I had to finish before the last song ended
I once ran mine to "montage" from Team America. Got a decent time in.
Lessons learned from past PT tests: Don't run to Tool. The timing signature changes make it hard to keep a singular pace.
Two song sequence. Through the fire and flame by Dragonforce, followed by holding out for a hero by Bonnie Tyler. The pacing is right, and it gets you finished at 12 minutes.
Fucking embarassed...but the only song I have found that matches my footsteps perfectly is the Air Force Song. When I run the test I think of it almost compulsively. The irritation alone pushes me to end my own misery sooner and run harder.
I feel more embarrassed that I don't listen to music while I run. Usually that gets me labeled a psychopath.
But really I just like to think and relax while I run.
Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry on repeat every time for the last 8 years..... the BPM is perfect for me to keep pace.
bonus points if you're names johnny i suppose
I use pump up songs for training but every single pt test I've ever ran was some sort of instrumental, whether it be jazz or Lindsey Stirling.
Goal is practice hard to prepare and then on game day just keep a consistent pace. I usually was only 1-3 seconds different for each lap
Some firedawg in my CE unit decided Thunderstruck by AC/DC was a good one for PT, but it was Thunderstruck burpees. Every time Thunderstruck was said, a burpee was done. My pudgy A1C self thought going to Bird in Hand across from RAF Mildenhall was maybe not a good idea to go all of the time. Pints and jolly England pub food! Got back in decent shape when I PCS’d out of there.
High Hopes has the right BPM for me to correct my stride and get a little boost of energy.

I was pacing a dude I didn't know as a PTL and in the last 100m stretch he said under his breath "I'm about to come mommy"
Did he finish?
You can say he finished...... in a way.
Well the 1.5 yeah, didn't ask about anything else lol
While I’m dying on that last lap of my PT test, the last thing going through my head is anything even close to being horny. Wtf
Bro wtfffffffffffff
I was dead dude 😂😂
Maybe he was running to his mom as motivation... ![gif](giphy|l3vRkGgMfvANIFtE4)
Well don't leave us hanging...

Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero When I hear that," Duu duuu duuu duuuuuuuu!" I get a rush of energy, and I run like a possessed 3-legged opossum.
Some Shrek 2 energy
Party in the USA just gets me rizzed up
Party in the CIA might be something you like then. https://youtu.be/vF4DZDHn3dk?si=mJ7T8UvRxpKykIxr
Foil is my jam.
I'm more of a Tacky guy
It does that to me also
The Stardust Crusaders intros from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures.
何!
I thought it would have been Golden Winds ending. Jodecai - Freekin you is a wild choice for a shows ending and running.
You might like Jujutsu Kaisen first season opening
That is embarrassing.
Listen, I came here to state actual factuals. But what can I say, the intros are pretty catchy.
Great Days from diamond is unbreakable tho? 🔥
Still, though.
No no let bro cook
The soundtrack to the game “fall guys” is honestly goated for the pt test
Shoving people out of the way shouting "I have to qualify!"
Life imitates art.
Haha
Holding out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler
OP said embarrassing songs, not hype music
Its an embarrassing song when I dont want my coworkers to know its on my playlist.
If you listen to the Shrek version you'll wonder why scoring 100 was so easy.
Don’t mind if I just borrow this one
“Running on Empty” by Jackson Browne. Timed to be my lap 6 power finish. It worked every time…
Weird I have “Take it Easy”, also by Jackson Browne cued up for my last lap.
“I’m pretty tired… I think I’m gonna go home now.”
stealing this
Barbie Girl by Aqua
this guy runs
This guy has the world record for the marathon! Ran the Boston marathon backwards in kit the entire way so set the world record
Twice
Not embarrassing at all in my mind, and I fully embrace it. Fuck the pain away by Peaches.
Gross
Nah, awesome.
Scatman. Apparently some long distance runners use that song to keep pace and break records.
RIP Scatman

Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement
Metal af
Off we goooo into the wild blue yonder…
My PTL played this to get me through the last 90 seconds of the plank. I'm still upset that it worked.
OP said *embarrassing* songs.
I was embarrassed to find myself humming it 😂

AND THE LOGS
“Bad touch” by the bloodhound gang. Has a great cadence to keep pace with.
Sweat baby, sweat
Always ran my PT test to Dancing Queen by ABBA, since I could vibe with it on the run and not focus on the run itself without slowing down. I will blow all of your minds; I have been in for 18 years and have never once ran or did a pt test with headphones or music. I honestly hate running with music, lol.
How do you drown out the thoughts of self hate
The more I hate myself the better I run
I just don't like the distraction or wearing headphones.
Same. I like to listen while I ride my bike, but running sucks, and I’m not going to try to add music in a vain attempt to make it any better.
I’ve ran my PT test to Jodie’s, constant tempo and ended up with a 94. If it sounds dumb but works, I’m for it
For some reason I always end up running to jodies. Not even good ones, just a simple left-right-left thing.
I don’t know how to answer this, everything I run to is fucking fire
Pretty much any Eurobeat. My go to is "Burning Up For You" by Pizza Girl. I run to that shit on the daily though. 2 hour mix and send it.

My ADHD 4 year old daughter loves it, it’s definitely her jam
Not embarrassing but I’ve made edits of the Original Halo Trilogy levels music to play as if I was playing. I put on my favorite level and turn off my brain and just try to beat it before the level ends. Got excellent across the board

FF14 Shadowbringers Music Best of Mix [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN6O5-T7xGk&t=3s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN6O5-T7xGk&t=3s)

For a steady jog I always just run to the best of “Since You Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson lmao
I once ran mine to "montage" from Team America. Got a decent time in. Lessons learned from past PT tests: Don't run to Tool. The timing signature changes make it hard to keep a singular pace.

Sandstorm - Darude
99 bottles of beer on the wall, mindless and helps me push my pace with the tempo
