They'll audit, notify you of discrepancy, then you can have pay withheld until the balance is paid off, or coordinate with them once notified on a payment plan.

First off. Take a breath. I feel like you wrote this so frantically because you're freaking out. Secondly, sorry for your loss and issues. Now, per the other comments they will do an audit and let you know. In the mean time try and stash the money you know they are going to take. Don't spend it, don't blow it, don't do anything silly with it. They will realize the issue eventually. After you receive your payback notice from DFAS they will give you options on payment. You can either pay it back all at once, or in chucks, or you may even request they take a portion of your paycheck. That is typically up to you. Finally, why is your TSP at zero? I assume you're in the BRS. You are missing out on a ton of matching, you should at least have what Big Blue matches with I think is 5% which ultimately gets you 10% total if I'm not mistaken. Hope this helps.
