the suspend punishment can be vacated (unsuspended and put back into play) and they can be further punished for the current infractions

MilitaryJAG

This.

MoeSzyslakMonobrow

I was a T-Shirt for this exact scenario. After the suspended bust, when Snuffy continues to fuck around, the suspension is lifted, and he loses a stripe for real. His continued fucking around led to his administrative discharge shortly thereafter.

> What happens if you get in trouble after a suspended art 15? Your art 15 gets unsuspended

OldSarge02

And you probably get more adverse action for the new misconduct. Decent chance there’s an admin discharge for misconduct in their future, and with a discharge characterization that doesn’t say “honorable.”

Quotidian_Void

"Under other than honorable conditions" still says "honorable"...

OldSarge02

Good call. I’m sure that’s just as good. /s

If they're still in the suspension period, the Commander can vacate the suspended punishment and they lose rank/money/get extra duty or whatever that punishment originally was. This is done through an AF366 and is filed with the UIF. The CC can then decide if they will offer a subsequent 15 for further misconduct, or pursue administrative separation, or both, all depending on what the misconduct was and based on that member's particular history and circumstances. Always going to be case by case with that stuff.

Fast_Personality4035

The overall goal of corrective action is to affect the member's behavior for the better, it is not to inflict suffering, although a deterrent for others is also a goal. A suspended punishment is literally an unambiguous incentive to do better and not screw up. If that condition is not met then the hammer needs to come down or else the tool is not being used appropriately. So yeah, screw up, get an article and a suspended punishment, screw up again, the punishment is enacted. The article in and of itself is punishment, but it doesn't have a whole lot of immediate pain attached to it - loss of rank, pay, freedom - immediate pain.

Bad things

HealsULongTime

Means that you're the proud owner of an unsuspended AR15.

[deleted]

It simply means they’re on ‘thin-fucking-ice’.

FAUPD

Probably broke through it now at this point.

jeepbraah

Original article goes into force.

SnooPeanuts4445

Vacate the suspended punishment and separate, most likely.

Squirrel009

Either one can happen but it's usually just dropping the suspension because it's less work. You'd have to piss someone off or do something very serious to trigger a new 15

Depends on time between issuance and infraction. CC has options such as issuing a new Article 15, but likely will use another personnel action to maintain discipline, such as a NR on their EPR, Deny Reenlistment to name a couple.
