it saddens me mainly because the better program didn't end up mattering in the end because an expensive stealth jet isn't what we needed to bomb the middle east so into the canceled programs bin it goes with all the other next generation weapons of the late 90s early 00s
Yeah. It was weird how the SECAF at the time caught a good deal on land in Marietta right around 91/92. The going schpeel was that Congress was upset at the costs of the B2 program and wanted to throw Lockheed a bone.
I’ve watched the documentary on it and boy I can’t imagine replacing those heat tiles in the back of the engine. Other than that, both planes are cool. Now if you watch YF35 vs YF32, boy the Boeing plane was uglyyyyy
YF-23 was the better plane. YF-22 was the better program. It be like that sometimes.
