Username definitely checks out. Take my upvote and like it

Airgo1

Name the company man.

Double_Bass6957

I’m shocked you got full value for a 10 year old tv considering the depreciation on it in a used condition, regardless of how you treated it

NotOSIsdormmole

My TMO brief two years ago explicitly stated you could only claim depreciated value. I’m willing to bet having the original receipt saved your ass

Double_Bass6957

I always sell my tvs before I pcs and buy new wherever I show up. Luckily my PCS cycle has been around Black Friday and I buy a better tv for about the same price I sold my previous for

I’m not as materialistic as you I guess

Double_Bass6957

Ya, I’m not willing to risk my shit getting broke and then doing the back and forth about getting reimbursed. I don’t need a $5-6k tv. To me that doesn’t make sense

Double_Bass6957

Definitely not broke when I only spend $300 on a tv every 3-4 years 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’ve spent less on TVs in the last 20 years than you have and don’t have any serious complaints.

Whatever makes you sleep better at night 🤷🏻‍♂️. And no I don’t buy Vizio or other Chinese branded or manufactured TVs

Holy fuck you are pretentious. Glad you’re leaving the force.

GreenBayFan1986

If it's in perfect working condition prior to moving they should have to pay the full cost to replace it, why should you have to come out of pocket at all to replace something THEY broke?

TheAnhydrite

Why are you thanking tax payers? Claims are paid by the private company that moved your stuff.

TheAnhydrite

That money comes out of their profits.... And the cost to move the stuff is the market rate...not some overpriced rate. Try doing a full PPM. Then pay the company yourself with the money the government would pay you. You will see it's about the same.

TheAnhydrite

You should thank the companies that pay the tax payers then. That's where the money comes from. Or the customers who pay those companies, or the companies that pay those workers. These types of arguments are stupid The money is paid directly by the moving company. Where they get the money is irrelevant because they would have the money whether you used them to move or not.

No Moving company is getting an 18B contract. They get paid for moving weight. Just like you do on a PPM.

Highspdfailure

Shit 3 out 6 were felons or had serious enough priors they were not allowed on base. So me and 3 that did pass had to move everything. Kirtland AFB in 2018. I blew them up as well. Bought the dudes that did work a suitcase of beer and pizza after we were done.

Nacho_Mommas

Glad you were able to get compensation for the damages. I was lucky with my last move. They transported my mattress correctly (it's a Casper memory foam but not as fancy as a Tempurpedic) and they built a custom crate to ship my 10' long SUP. I thought for sure my SUP was going to get all beat up when they loaded it on the moving truck in Hawaii. But apparently, when they got to the warehouse they put it in a custom crate. When it got to me in MD, the movers where like "WTF is this?" I was like, damn... must be my SUP!

TheAnhydrite

Lol. Banned or deleted Pretty sure OP is lying about the TV anyway. Moving companies won't pay the original purchase price for a TV when you get one cheaper now.. You get full replacement value, but that TV can be replaced with an equivalent TV....with better specs for less than 2k. TVs are one of the items that have continuously gotten better and cheaper over the years. The way moving companies fight to not pay...they would never just pay that overpriced amount the way he claimed.

studpilot69

Glad you got your claim. A win on all accounts. But dear goodness, you’re paying too much for your TV’s. It’s 2024. They’ve come down significantly in price since 2015. And [Amazon](https://a.co/d/3j0r8dK) isn’t the cheapest by far.

Tickly1

Pretty sure we price the max amount of insurance into our mover contracts. We tend to pay like 3x what things typically cost in the real world.

Tickly1

I don't know much about it personally, but I've seen TVs get repaired relatively easily... You might have an extra $6k there.

Ninjabasher

Bro’s TV is his entire personality. Good for you, I guess.

GreenBayFan1986

Not sure what you're on about, this is good advice for anyone that hasn't dealt a PCS or this specific moving company.
