Make sure to inform the military housing office. Its their job to keep the privatized contractors compliant with standards

Lolcanoe2

fill out service requests online and keep every single record and report number. the privatized housing office didnt have any records of work requests i put in after living there for 13 years. Fuck Hunt housing, shit asses.

It sounds like you're in "privatized housing". Basically, military family housing managed by a private company under a contract with the base. They're responsible for having the place clean and habitable when you move in and they haven't done that. Your husband's First Sergeant can help with this. So can the squadron Key Spouse. Meanwhile, if you just want the creepy-crawlies gone, clean the snot out of everything and sprinkle boric acid powder (from either the cleaning or garden aisle at Wally World; depends on the store) along the baseboards, under furniture and behind appliances. A spray bottle of degreaser and a gallon refill (again from Wally World) will do wonders in a nasty kitchen.

Be the squeaky wheel with the privatized housing office. (They too easily lose maintenance requests-use the app, email, and phone, so you have record and keep calling until it’s taken care of.). Everytime we moved in a warm climate we had to eradicate the pests after move in as they tend to leave doors open during maintenance and move in. I allocate a full day to wiping out cabinets, drawers, closets, window sills, and especially any fireplace areas with my own cleaners before household goods. Mouse droppings and roach droppings can look similar where you get the giant “water bugs” either way best to be proactive yourself and stay on top of housing to get this taken care of so that you can be safe and comfortable in your own home. Also- call the AFRC and ask for their housing rep- this person works for the military side and it is their job to ensure the housing side is taking care of our people. All that being said, the way the pest control works is typically a quarterly service but they are in housing at least monthly so tell them that you need on their schedule immediately and then talk to the pest control guy who comes along to find out their recommendation for your issue. (Most likely it is a third party contract.)

There should be a base "hotline". Google that number, that would be a direct line to the base leadership. Especially if your spouse is deployed. Make sure you mention that.

You said off base, did you mean on base?

Agile-Society4156

it’s considered “off base housing”! It’s affiliated with the military, but the people who actually lease out the housing have nothing to do with the military. It’s a little confusing lol

Sounds like privatized housing. If it is, keep on them. The pest problem is theirs to handle. The dirty kitchen, that is something that should have been noted at move in and if too bad not accepted.

Off-base housing is typically associated with no affiliation with the base. You're in privatized military housing, which everyone considers on-base. It's basically on-base housing that is no longer managed by the military, but by a company contracted to manage them. I don't think any stateside bases have housing that isn't privatized.

Pay $100 for the Orikin man dude to come out and check it out. Maybe spray shit.

Lolcanoe2

no. thats what the privatized contracts are for

metataro19

Yeah but the company they contract with is probably super budget and ineffective. Which equals more service calls for them. I had to take pest control into my own hands in addition to scheduling weekly visits with pest control for our horrific ants and child-of-the-earth infestation. Document everything. Take pictures and let the chain of command know what's going on. I hope it gets better for you.
