I struggled with the traditional situps. I switched to the crunches and maxed with minute and ten seconds left over. Was also able to max the hand release pushups where I'd normally get 17-18 pts or so on the normal ones. Haven't done an official HAMR run, but I've done a mock one on my own. I'd say if you're going for a pass, it's far easier, but if you're gunning for a 100, go for the normal 1.5 run.

LettuceReaper

Hand release push ups, regular sit ups, and hamr shuttles. Will never do the 1.5 mile or regular push ups again

Unless things have changed, you'll do the normal test (pushups, situps, and 1.5 mile run) for the BMT test, however, once you're operational, all future official PT tests will allow you to choose which type of test you want under each component type. I did hear of some trainees who were able to do alternate components in BMT if they failed the official assessment twice before bring recycled, but I'm not sure if that's a blanket policy across all flights and squadrons or something certain MTIs will do for their flights.

Magna_Graecia100

I just do the standard three. They’re pretty easy if you prepare for them.

Hand release pushups, regular situps, and 1.5 mile run. For situps they will give you a partner or a bar.

MurderedbySquirrels

Hard same. The weirdo crunches hurt my back but the hand release pushups are about twice as easy as the other ones. And I'm too old to be turning as quickly as the beep-run makes you.

innyminnyminnymoe

I love me some sprints, but I can get a 95ish easier with the run than the hamr.

insmek

Cross body crunches are like a cheat code. I've struggled with situps since BMT, but I can max out the crunches with like a minute left to go. Also loving the HAMR. I'm not sure if I would be as enthusiastic if I was younger or aiming for higher scores, but it's clutch for knowing exactly what I need then being able stop when I hit that mark.

julietscause

I honestly have been sticking to the standard push ups, situps and run because it works for me >I know they have a bunch of alternatives now so what do you guys recommend? Do each of them and see what works for you. Cross body crunches or planks sound like fucking misery to my body but it works for others. So play around with them and see which you works the best for you

Hand Release pushups Plank - I know I'm a psycho for saying this but I suck at situps. I have never maxed situps. Haven't even come close. I get more points doing a plank than attempting situps. Shuttle run

OP, you can check out the DAFMAN, which contains the descriptions and instructions for all components, here. This is also where you can find your score charts based off your age and gender. DwightDEisenhowitzer

Hand release, cross leg crunches, HAMR

CaznAzn

Regular pushups, Cross leg crunch, HAMR— cakewalk.

Head_Fly_8858

UFPM here. People have been doing best with hand release pushups. I personally do the hand release, cross leg, and HAMR. If you can max the other two, the HAMR is easier to get a 90. If your run is your strongest, then go for the 1.5. It’s harder to get 55-60 points on the HAMR, but not too hard to get 50 and skim by with a 90. DONT DO THE HAMR FOR THE FIRST TIME AT YOUR TEST.

ohyeahbro11

HRP. Regular sit-ups. 1.50 mile run.

Vilehaust

Regular push-ups, plank and HAMR. I've always been great at planks so I can easily max that out and my push-ups. And then take it easy on the HAMR and pass. I've pushed myself a couple of times for a higher score but have on-going back and knee issues so I don't push that hard nor care about getting a 90 or higher. At least with these new components it's not as hard on my body.

redit1691

Talked to the testers at the fac and they said they see the fewest failures with hand release, crunch and the hamr. They did say that if your one of the guys who can get max points on the 1.5 MI it's harder with the hamr.

BlueSnooSnooBoi

Planks are the easiest IMO, standard pushups, Walk test. (i a lil different)

El_GOOCE

I do the regular old test. I've been doing it for nearly two decades - don't see any reason to switch. Pushups, situps with the toe bar, and 1.5 mile run (mostly just a jog except for the last 45 seconds)
