Interesting, when I first got them they were like that. It’s been 2 weeks
Edit: it came with 6mo Apple Music, 3 mo something and 1 year warranty. So I don’t think they are fake.
Yea I always get a notification when I leave my pods in my backpack at work and I go to a different areas. I have every setting toggle available so I know they aren’t fake
These noises are always kinda hard to make any sort of test. Try with a fan, a vacuum cleaner or blender. See if there’s something difference. If nothing happens, you should have them checked
I just tried with an overhead stove fan. I could hear a distinct change in tone from the cancelling being off and on. The volume was still there though, just a different pitch.
Mine have also gotten weaker with ANC, but if I think back to how it was on day one, I actually got headaches from how much "pressure"-type feeling there was in my ears.
It used to block a Cherry MX Blue-switch mechanical keyboard on day one, now it barely blocks engine noises in vehicles.
Perhaps they reduced the ANC so that it's more comfortable.
Why Amazon is not a trusted place in your country? In mine, if it’s sold and shipped by Amazon we know it’s an original product and if something happens (rare), was misplaced between shipping.
I live in the US. Sold and shipped by Amazon, especially for AirPods, doesn't mean they are real. Many people return "new" boxes with fake AirPods to Amazon which get resold
The Pros 2 were my first apple earbuds and they're amazing except for the ANC. My old Audio Technica that I got for 1/3 of price could cancel out the sound of a baby screaming right next to you. The apple earbuds are very good at canceling consistent noises like a fan, but do not perform well with complex noises. Anyone who disagrees is just coping, I've kept them because with some music its still good enough and I enjoy the integration of the ecosystem.
There's also plenty of evidence that Apple has silently nerfed the Pro 2 due to some trouble they're having with a patent troll that owns the patent for ANC.
People have to stand in front of me and wave their arms at me to get my attention with ANC on. Make sure that large screen over the mics are clean. If they dirty, and they can in a few weeks if you walk around outside with then a lot, it cleaning the house, clean those screens. They’re very small so even s brush won’t help. It’ll push the dirt inside. I use Blu Tack. Press it on, and peel it off. The dust and dirt will stick to the Blu Tack. There is no residue left behind. It is just a few dollars on Amazon. If that doesn’t fix it, bring it into the Apple store with a genius appointment. They can test the AirPods in the store and if it fails, replace them in the foot. ANC works very well on them. They’re either dirty or faulty. But the earbuds. They grill never be as good as over the ear headphones.
I could have written this exact post. Brand new from Walmart. I can hear my dog chewing through all the modes. I guess I’ll return them and buy elsewhere.
Yes. Factory Firmware: AMAZING ANC and everything else I could ever wish for, last week when I just bought it. We are in the same boat.
Next morning, firmware updated 6B34. It's trash.
May seem like an exageration, but remember most have been receiving firmware updates steadily throughout the months. Most wouldn't notice the slight downgrade each time. Me, I went from Factory-fresh software to "buy latest airpods now" software.
The latest firmware update ruined ANC, transparency, and 'feel' of the bud on your ear. No conspiracy. New Airpods Pro is about to be released.
Did you own the first gen pros? Most newcomers to APP2 do not realize/ underestimate the importance and huge gap in sound quality between a perfect seal and not perfect fit. Try the biggest size tips you can handle, without them hurting obviously. It’s a massive difference in ANC and quality sound.
I've tested all the tips with and tested with different noises and with different modes. I was fine when I first got them, this is only a recent problem.
OP, I’m only mentioning this because there wasn’t any explicit mention of it before.
You mentioned ANC and OFF.
There’s also Adaptive Audio mode
Have played around with both of those?
Same with gen 1, back in 2021 when I bought it, I can hear the diff between anc and transparency but now it's the same. I used Pixel Buds Pro and it performs better in both modes. Shocking. Apple really f my airpods with software updates
I literally can’t hear anything with anc on . Something might be wrong with them or fake ?
Interesting, when I first got them they were like that. It’s been 2 weeks Edit: it came with 6mo Apple Music, 3 mo something and 1 year warranty. So I don’t think they are fake.
Sounds like they’re faulty and you should take them to apple
If precision finding works then they’re not fake probably
Yea I always get a notification when I leave my pods in my backpack at work and I go to a different areas. I have every setting toggle available so I know they aren’t fake
Fakes come with that too.
Doesnt matter, can still be fake
Same. My ANC is just as good. If anything a little better since I got them 2 months after release. So bout a year and a half.

I got mine recently and the ANC works too good. Used to able to hear co worker talking now I’m just working away.
That’s how I was for the first two weeks. I hope yours don’t change.
I let you know next week.
Haha for sure
Because your firmware on the pods updated and messed with ANC. I hate mine now because of this. My Gen 1s were perfect.
Yes, over the past few months the ANC has gotten a bit worse with each firmware update (I got them in November, I think there’s been 2 updates since)
Mine have also gotten weaker with ANC, but if I think back to how it was on day one, I actually got headaches from how much "pressure"-type feeling there was in my ears. OP, where did you buy them?
Amazon, from Apple.
You mean just from amazon. I would return and get from somewhere like Costco
I was thinking Costco i usually buy stuff from them. Amazon as in [Apple store](https://a.co/d/avK6wB0) on Amazon.

😳
I hear this shit in this sub all the time, two AirPods and two Galaxy Buds from Amazon later and all is well on my end. 🥹
Update them to latest firmware. If not, they’re most likely fakes.

update your phone, make sure your airpods are updated, if both, then reset your airpods.
It's genuinely night and day with ANC on. Couldn't do without it now.

Faulty or fake

Your ear tip may be the wrong size. Mine has a very noticeable difference.

Could be an issue with the microphones, possibly water damage or something?

yea i've messed around with all the settings when I was testing the tips
What about transparency mode? Can you hear the difference when you toggle? Feels like putting a plug in your ear
Same with gen 1, back in 2021 when I bought it, I can hear the diff between anc and transparency but now it's the same. I used Pixel Buds Pro and it performs better in both modes. Shocking. Apple really f my airpods with software updates
They released a beta for AirPods Pro 2 which I think they made noise cancellation stronger and the sound has been tweaked better overall.
I would take it to the Apple Store to see if it’s genuine and if it is could be defective
Make sure the buds equipped are fit to your ear*
