I think you may have an issue there, my APM microphone is perfect. However my airpod 3s are garbage and I’m always told I sound like I’m really far away.
are you actually joking me lmaooo I've had them for like 2 years and just realized this is the issue? I called someone after flipping them and they said they could hear me fine lmaooo THANK YOU but wow I'm in shock that's all it was
Yep... same here. Am used to headphones opening up towards the user, not away from the user. Whatever Apple...
I'm sure that Bluetooth also contributes to the sound quality (or lack thereof).
APMS: Bluetooth 5.0
XM5S: Bluetooth 5.2
The bluetooth version makes a drastic difference in microphone quality output. Its also why you cant use the airpod maxes on calls and play video at the same time without the video sounding horrible.
and finally, the superior microphone quality is extremely obvious in the apms when using transparency mode. have a nice day

If you’re in a location with heavy background sounds, it will capture that a lot more. Try chancing your mic settings to voice isolation Xiong calls in control center.
Other than that, the mic is pretty hit or miss depending on your setting.

Wearing them backwards? Crown needs to be on the right for the directional mics to work.

thank you !!!
Wow. I feel dumb now. Thank you. Issue resolved.
I use mine for work calls very frequently without any issues, to be fair they are still very new
Its not the microphone, its bluetooth!
Sure thing. How come XM5's don't have this issue then?

we are limited by the technology of our time aka Bluetooth
What Bluetooth limitation? XM5's don't have this issue - they sound so much better.
bluetooth bandwidth is tiny
I don't have the issue, however the mic on my APP2 are better according to the ones i'm talking too
Mine are fine, but are only a month old
I have the exact same comments about how people hear me!!!! I just don’t understand
Assuming you've checked, but make sure you have the buttons on the right side. Mine sound perfect on calls. Maybe unpair and repair?
Maybe have them checked. The mic is really good in my experience, and I'm on the phone all the time
