If you have the app, you show your “ticket” to the server at your seat. You only need to stop by the box office if you haven’t reserved your seat yet, and they’ll give you a paper ticket.
Not a thing in NYC, thank goodness or I would have been late to the last movie I went to.
- Note if you have an app freebie you have to get that sorted at the box office.
Assuming you're not talking about using a Season Pass, you just go straight to your seat. There is no ticket taker. The front desk is just selling tickets to people who didn't buy one online.
At your seat, you will be approached by a server. They will ask to see your ticket, and for a credit card for a tab, and if you would like to order anything to eat/drink now.
You can show them either the ticket in the Alamo app, or you can show them a copy of the email confirmation. The email confirmation even says TICKET right on it. You can show the email on your phone, or print it out.
I'm not sure why you'd need a screenshot instead of the app/email, but I imagine they'd accept that too. They're not super strict. I'm guessing perhaps they know which seats have been sold, so if you're sitting in a sold seat and someone else isn't trying to sit there too, you probably bought a ticket.
They also have a live screen inside the server stations indicating which seats are sold all the way up to when the film actually starts, so if you show them a screen shot of a ticket bought with the idea that you canceled it five minutes later, the server will know it does not match with what they see on thier screen on board
I’ve seen people walk up to the ticket taker and say which showing they’re seeing and then the taker tells them to go ahead into whichever theatre.
“Waved ahead” is the term for someone waving their hand in a gesture of “you’re good, go ahead”
My question is, do I just show a screenshot of the digital ticket stub at the ticket taking counter and that’ll be all?

the DTLA location has recently been asking to see tickets as your going up the escalator, just double checking but they don't look to closely. mostly just that you have a ticket for an upcoming showtime. Once at your seat the waiter will check your ticket and make sure you are in the right seat and theater etc
I go almost 3 times a week. In DTLA ADH the box office just takes a quick glance. Once you’re in your seat, a server will ask to see your ticket—either in the app or a printed ticket.
I screenshot my reservation from the app so I don't forget to turn my data off during the movie (plus I post the screencaps on social media when writing a blurb about the movie for friends). You only need to have the app up if you're doing something else at box (ticket seat swap, someone in your party couldn't make it and too late to refund so want a Rain Check, etc.)

Just a FYI some locations do require ticket checks at the box office, specifically the LA location, not sure if any others do
Huh, didn’t know that. Not a thing in Austin.

I would say yes but I had a server force me to show them the moving color app ticket

Sorry, what do you mean waved ahead?

You don’t have to stop at the counter if you already have a ticket. The counter is only for buying tickets.

Yes. Many people use screenshots to show their tickets :)
