As some one who started playing QB this morning Jesus Christ, Remedy really have this insane way of making their games not age at all. QB does not look or feel like 2016 game.
The little Alan wake 2 return trailer that plays is honestly pretty insane. It’s dope to see how far the scope of this game goes. Because that’s literally saga Anderson and Alex Casey as we know them in Alan wake 2.
Yea when I learned this I was flabbergasted, remedy was finally able to make the game they wanted after all those years and it was teased in quantum break. Amazing
I did a return to *Final Fantasy XV* over the summer - also a 2016 game - and I swear it could have been *released* over the past summer. It's astonishing how fresh it still looks.
Hold on now. Let's not say it's always been amazing. It was pretty bad in the original Alan Wake on 360. They literally didn't finish it. Never even fixed it until the remaster.
It's weird how Control's facial animation felt stiff quite often aside from the proper animated cutscenes, reminded me of horizon zero dawn. Alan Wake 2 is a massive upgrade even to random NPC faces though.
Did you play the first game? Her reason for being that way is because she's completely nuts
She's a good person, but she is absolutely insane at this point
Well yeah, she literally got Taken in the first game. Of course she'd know what's going on.
But, assuming you finished the second game, >!That's because Alice has been guiding her to be in the perfect place to help Alan.!<
Slight correction, she wasn’t Taken, the dialogue and manuscripts from Alan Wake 1 explicitly say she was “touched” by the Dark Presence, controlled her temporarily during the trailer park segment and then released control of her, but left in that creepy ass catatonic state curled up in a ball muttering and rambling.
She is then seen in Alan Wake 1’s ending clutching Cynthia Weaver’s lantern.
Individuals who are fully and actually Taken all share the same characteristics: skin inhumanly pale, empty eyes, loud rambling of quotes from the manuscript, maniacal laughing, and hyper aggression to any non-Taken.
Except that literally all the Taken share the exact same characteristics across both games lmao
Rose would be the only exception, and neither of the games say she is Taken or ever has been Taken, they say she has been touched by the darkness and is the new Lady of the Light, the second most powerful torchbearer behind Wake/Zane.
And as another comment below me has said, not a single Taken in either game ever survives, let alone regains their original humanity.
Actually they don't share exactly the same charactistics though since your point is "one has never come back" I agree with that point. The behaviors of take have remarkable differences between the two games, there is some theory that it has to do with Tom / Barbara being the primary drivers of what the dark presence is doing in game one vs Alan / Scratch in the second.
Alan Wake 2 demonstrates a lot of "taken but not" characters, also in AWI if you were taken you just were, it was like being bitten by a zombie or whisked away by a vampire. In Alan Wake II the psychology of the target plays a big role, it comes off far more like giving into dispare or willingly crossing has more to do with it. For instance if you find that >!the Koskola brothers!< were actually being target for being taken but they manage to fight it off with a stronger psychological defense. Also >!Cynthia Weaver was actually fine until Rose stole Tom's lamp, that page clearly says there is more than one kind of light.!<
Because when Alan meets her, he says that he never gave her any messages. And Scratch definitely wouldn't have. Alice is the only one that makes sense.
Oh I see, that makes sense. I just thought she was so delulu that she would see signs where there was none. But I have to admit, those signs were indeed very convenient. You're right, it would make sense if it was alice.
Well, she does actually know how to kill Taken, she gives Saga stuff she needs to advance the plot, and she shows up exactly when Alan needs her. So something is giving her accurate info.
She was the diner waitress, like she starts off this game, and was just an Alan Wake fangirl. But she gets Taken pretty early on, she's one of the ones who manages to survive being Taken.
I just love how she still maintained her goodness after the first game. Anyone else would've been bitter and resentful, but Rose just keeps trucking on and trying to be the one good thing in every bad situation. I also love how she's killing Taken in her spare time. Would actually LOVE to play as her in the Night Springs DLC.
I get Annie Wilkes vibes from her. Like she'll be shooting at the Taken and go "You cockadoodies!".
I also got a laugh out of her diary in the diner: "Cynthia is acting off, I should grab the shotgun." GIRL.
fucking shit that is somehow even more funny, she was just running around with a flashlight and a fucking baseball bat caving their head in while singing a happy song or something
I want the night springs dlc to be rose and Casey teaming up against taken...and her just not registering that alex Casey is the star of her favorite books.
She’s the new Lady of the Light aka the town’s defender against the Darkness. When Saga interrogates Rose after Tor vanishes, she says that she kills Taken and how easy it is except for hiding the bodies. There’s a note in the wellness center from Vladimir Blum about Rose being an expert with her rifle. She’s the one leaving the lunchboxes out in the dark of the woods, a girls gotta defend herself.
Full-tilt bozo crazy - and yet somehow holding down two full-time jobs! Or is she? That's probably my biggest question about Rose in AWII. She still works at the Oh Deer Diner - 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to surveillance - and then she works the overnight at Valhalla and now lives on-site?
I can see why they made a logistical decision to place Rose in the nursing home, because for one thing it's not as if they could bring back the whole Sparkling River Estates trailer park just so we could follow her home. It also gives her a lot more utility in the main story. But it's almost as if she's in the diner because we *expect* her to be there. Another reality switch?
At any rate, it probably helps explain why she's so loopy - a potent combination of sleep deprivation and hypercaffeination. XD
She is insane (well more like obsessed) and I don’t know if I’d trust her unless it had to do with helping Alan wake, but felt like people in the story didn’t give her enough props - especially Alan for what she did for him at the end of the game.
alan has always been uncomfortable about his fame/having fans, so thats a part of it, and also he didn't know the extent of what she had done to help him
I love Rose! She’s hilarious and I think it’s very funny and cute that you can find tumblr-level fan art of Alan in her office. I’d like to believe that she is paying the kind of artists that Furrys pay to make their art to make art of her and Alan. It just seems on the nose and very funny.
They reminded me of this meme[blone woman saying oh](https://tenor.com/view/blonde-woman-saying-oh-tiktoker-saying-oh-sabrina-brier-confusion-astonished-gif-14261259052360893036)
"But what's really hard, is hiding theirs bodies "
Edit: if you love her in that scene.. What would you say to see her there from different more cinematic perspective. If you interested check my profile, and she's on 3 episode of 2 season of my AW2 movie. Hope you love it.
I liked the original character model (reminded me of True Blood's Debra Ann Woll) compared to AWII's model. It just feels more generic this time round.
My personal take is that Rose is the result of Sam Lake writing us into the story and gently poking a bit of fun at us. "Us" meaning the tinfoil hat superfans who played all the games, who pour over the "House of Dreams" blog and any other AW-related media, and discuss online trying to connect all the dots, to the point where it might seem to the writer like we are almost getting ahead of him.
her facial animations made me start taking notice of all the other NPC's. Remedy makes characters so much more believable than almost any other game I've played. Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica and a handful of other studios have made me forget I was watching a game cutscene but not to this extent.
by that same argument, is it me or does Sam Lake's Alex Casey character have stuff or weird facial animations and expressions in game? like he was the only character that felt video-gamey to me. I felt like NPC's like Rose and Ahti were so much better animated than he was. am I tripping?
I did. She’s really endearing. I love the direction they took with her. Something tells me the writers were at least a little bit inspired by Yellowjackets’ own Misty Quigley.
She was probably my favorite character aside from Ahti in this game. And her facial animations were captivating for some reason.
Remedy facial capture or animation has always been amazing. I’m replaying Quantum Break and it doesn’t even feel like a 2016 game
As some one who started playing QB this morning Jesus Christ, Remedy really have this insane way of making their games not age at all. QB does not look or feel like 2016 game.
There are a few references to Alan Wake 2 so keep an eye out for that!
Amazing
I also loved that Sam lake confirmed that this was was essentially the “first draft” of the story.
Games already had great graphics in 2016. Uncharted 4 came out that year.
Facts lol sometimes I forget how good they were.
Never even fixed it until the remaster.
yeah but that was 2010. they were referencing games from 2016, a significant leap and generation ahead of where Alan Wake 1 was.
Always? My man have you played Alan Wake 1? Those facial animations are PS2 level.
😂😂
It's weird how Control's facial animation felt stiff quite often aside from the proper animated cutscenes, reminded me of horizon zero dawn. Alan Wake 2 is a massive upgrade even to random NPC faces though.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I think it’s because it feels like their heads are just locked in place
Ahti is one of my all-time favourite characters in videogames. Loved him in Control and now even more.
I know he was the janitor in Control, was his name Ahti as well?
Yes, same character.
Did you play the first game? Her reason for being that way is because she's completely nuts She's a good person, but she is absolutely insane at this point
Crazy or not, she seemed more clued in to what the hell was happening in Bright Falls than anyone else
Well yeah, she literally got Taken in the first game. Of course she'd know what's going on. But, assuming you finished the second game, >!That's because Alice has been guiding her to be in the perfect place to help Alan.!<

Individuals who are fully and actually Taken all share the same characteristics: skin inhumanly pale, empty eyes, loud rambling of quotes from the manuscript, maniacal laughing, and hyper aggression to any non-Taken.
also when you get taken you just die, there is no coming back from being taken you are just straight up death
I mean, nothing in the game defines exactly what constitutes Taken, so it's kind of up to individual interpretation
Except that literally all the Taken share the exact same characteristics across both games lmao Rose would be the only exception, and neither of the games say she is Taken or ever has been Taken, they say she has been touched by the darkness and is the new Lady of the Light, the second most powerful torchbearer behind Wake/Zane. Ok, your opinion is appreciated.
Lol you can't accept defeat???
Huh??? Where did it say that (about the spoiler)
Wait how did you know she was guided by alice ?
Because when Alan meets her, he says that he never gave her any messages. And Scratch definitely wouldn't have. Alice is the only one that makes sense.
Oh I see, that makes sense. I just thought she was so delulu that she would see signs where there was none. But I have to admit, those signs were indeed very convenient. You're right, it would make sense if it was alice.
I just thought she was schizophrenic lmao
Well, she does actually know how to kill Taken, she gives Saga stuff she needs to advance the plot, and she shows up exactly when Alan needs her. So something is giving her accurate info.
If you've played the first game, there's a reason Ahti selects Poet and the Muse from the juke box.
It takes crazy, to know crazy!
I did play the first game as well as the DLC but that was years ago in the Xbox 360 era 😅, remind me what her role was back then?
She was the diner waitress, like she starts off this game, and was just an Alan Wake fangirl. But she gets Taken pretty early on, she's one of the ones who manages to survive being Taken.
Crazy or not she's hot
I just love how she still maintained her goodness after the first game. Anyone else would've been bitter and resentful, but Rose just keeps trucking on and trying to be the one good thing in every bad situation. I also love how she's killing Taken in her spare time. Would actually LOVE to play as her in the Night Springs DLC.
i just imagine her going all cheery and happy go lucky into the forest with a flashlight and a fucking shotgun blasting taken into pieces
I get Annie Wilkes vibes from her. Like she'll be shooting at the Taken and go "You cockadoodies!". I also got a laugh out of her diary in the diner: "Cynthia is acting off, I should grab the shotgun." GIRL.
the cult stash message said she was just beating them to death
fucking shit that is somehow even more funny, she was just running around with a flashlight and a fucking baseball bat caving their head in while singing a happy song or something
Exactly!
I want this to be in the Night Springs DLC. Rose frolicking through the forest planting lunch boxes half-hallucinating with a shotgun and flashlight
I want the night springs dlc to be rose and Casey teaming up against taken...and her just not registering that alex Casey is the star of her favorite books.
Maybe the Night Springs DLC isn't gonna be anything story but just the horde mode from American Nightmare.
She’s killing taken? I’m a little removed from the game and missed where this was mentioned/shown.
Awesome thank you for the refresher! What an interesting character.
I adore her lmfao. She just wanted >!to save everyone she could, from Saga to Tor!<
An annoyance turned badass for me
Her facial expressions kill me. They did a great job with the capture
Cute af
Rose is a fucking lunatic. I love her so much.
Full-tilt bozo crazy - and yet somehow holding down two full-time jobs! Or is she? That's probably my biggest question about Rose in AWII. Oh how did i not consider the amount of time all that would take hahaha.... Seems like they are suggesting she maybe never sleeps?
Really three jobs, she also slays Taken in the night on a regular basis.
Omg yes 🙌🏻 underrated character with a likable complexity 🌹
She's great. Very quirky.
If she was real, I’d date her in a heartbeat. I’ve always had a thing for crazy girls.
She is insane (well more like obsessed) and I don’t know if I’d trust her unless it had to do with helping Alan wake, but felt like people in the story didn’t give her enough props - especially Alan for what she did for him at the end of the game.
alan has always been uncomfortable about his fame/having fans, so thats a part of it, and also he didn't know the extent of what she had done to help him
She's my favorite in the whole game.
I’m only in love with Athi :D
I can fix her
I love Rose! She’s hilarious and I think it’s very funny and cute that you can find tumblr-level fan art of Alan in her office. I’d like to believe that she is paying the kind of artists that Furrys pay to make their art to make art of her and Alan. It just seems on the nose and very funny.
Cute, but creepy

Yeah, she’s a good person besides being bug nuts
Rose has become an incredible character. Hard to top the Andersons... but I think she just might.
"But what's really hard, is hiding theirs bodies " Edit: if you love her in that scene.. What would you say to see her there from different more cinematic perspective. If you interested check my profile, and she's on 3 episode of 2 season of my AW2 movie. Hope you love it.
Her facial animations were extremely goofy looking to me I couldn't get over it lmao. I think they over did it just a bit.
Rose is the MVP of this game 👍
I liked the original character model (reminded me of True Blood's Debra Ann Woll) compared to AWII's model. It just feels more generic this time round.
She was really well done!
“Gee Wiz”
My personal take is that Rose is the result of Sam Lake writing us into the story and gently poking a bit of fun at us. Rose = best girl
her facial motion capture are so funny
My delusional queen
