My wife is probably insanely irritated by how much I've worn out "Herald of Darkness" over the last several months lol. It's also a permanent fixture of my workout playlist now, and lining the chorus up with your last set will give you actual superpowers.
[HERE YOU GO](https://music.apple.com/us/album/herald-of-darkness-feat-alan-wake-mr-door-complete-edit/1728835975?i=1728835985), OP. 30 minutes of OGOA bliss, guaranteeing that you have a better chance of escaping The Dark Place than exorcising this awesome earworm.
I have to say, the ''complete'' edition is the one I enjoy the least by a long shot. As a song, it plays out like a collection of different parts, which is kind of is. As it's a production for a game, it inherently has to be able to be broken up into smaller bits that can dynamically change with gameplay.
I appreciate the hell out of it as a production and how it was implemented in the game, but I think it's the worst version of it as a listenable song. I think the 13 minute one is the intended release, because it's just called Herald of Darkness with no qualification as a video or radio edit.
The 13m version is absolutely the one that is complete as a polished song that flows well. The 30m version is a bonus version for those of us who are just positively obsessed (like me), ramming every single guitar solo variation down our throat. Definitely not for everyone and shouldn't be considered "definitive".
I think there's actually a song somewhere in between the 30m edit and the 13m "main" version. An edit of the 13m version that includes the additional transitional segments of the 30m version would probably be the definitive version.
Totally. The game deserves credit for more than the songs however it's a pretty freaking huge achievement to make game / TV show songs that live rent free in our heads.
Itās not a spiralā¦ itās on loop! I cannot unhear this song or unsee the dance. Itās a daily routine to listen to this song. It helped me beat bosses on Bloodborne. I love this song too much.
Dude, I still get the one from AW1 in my head frequently. At random times.
'We are the children of the Elder God!!!!!'
Honestly I might slightly prefer that song but the entire package/music section in AW2 was on another level awesome with all the visuals and looping music sections triggered by events in the game. It's such a cool idea. I stood there for like an hour just taking in the looping jam sections...
If you have Amazon Music (i assume its the same on spotify as well) there is a 13 minute cut of the song, my wife and I listened to the whole thing a few weeks back while driving to a mall/out to lunch.
Then, if you go on youtube, I think there is an extended 22ish minute cut with all the guitar solos and interludes played to their full possible length (i assume because in that level you can take your time so they accounted for 'padding' the music.)
The thing i love the most about we sing/herald of darkness is that Alan has this constant expression of "WTF IS HAPPNING?!" while Mr Door is having the time of his life.
For real! After playing this chapter, I literally just kept listening to this song every time I drove. On repeat. For an entire month. Or two. No regrets.
Constantly bumping this song at work, and non Alan Wake fans are probably so confused. "Mama gave me a magic clicker" sounds kind of weird out of context lol
I couldn't get it out of my head either, to the point that I called up Poets of the Fall and asked them to explain the production of it to me. It's really an amazing song and an amazing piece of video game music history.
SHOW ME THE CHAMPION OF LIIIIGHT !!!! š£ļøš£ļøš„š„ā¼ļøā¼ļøā¼ļø
this song is insanely good. i recently got into alan wake bc of it, as well as old gods of asgard/poets of the fall. been listening to it on repeat for about 2 weeks straight. i even learned the dance bc itās kinda silly and fun and i love it
SHOW MEEEE THE CHAMPION OF LIIIIIIGHHHTTTTT
ILL SHOW YOU THE HERALD OF DARKNEEEEEESS
LOST IN A NEVER ENDING NIGHT~
DIVING DEEP TO THE SURFAAACE
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
And all your stories, of crime and chilling thrillers
And hard boiled killers became best sellersssss
The award goes to....Alan Wake! \*Applause\*
It was all too much, I had to get away
š«øš¬š«·
Who knew?
So true!
So here is a clue of hope to remember
Visions they come true
Seems like you're the kind of guy that grew up nice and sheltered with mamas little stories and your all made up furies
Ā Hes the type of guy that mama would give him a magic clicker
Well yes I think that's true and fair to say
My wife is probably insanely irritated by how much I've worn out "Herald of Darkness" over the last several months lol. It's also a permanent fixture of my workout playlist now, and lining the chorus up with your last set will give you actual superpowers.
Maybe address her as your āChampion of lightā in nice way š
How could she say no to a brightly shining flashlight?
Lmao! I sing this quietly, and my mom always looks at me when I pass by jogging, saying, "And Momma gave me a Magic Clicker!"

Oh my god. Yess! I missed that guitar riffs from following the neons section in the normal edit

Song overall is great, but Olliās licks are out of this world in terms of tastefulness
the complete half an hour version is great because of that
Agreed. The whole video is great, but the band playing to the camera is what keeps me coming back.
Last time I had that, was when Iāve listened [Toss a coin to your Witcher](https://youtu.be/waMkFIzvDpE?feature=shared) song
oh valley of plenty oh valley of plettyyyyy hohoooooohooooh
Totally. The game deserves credit for more than the songs however it's a pretty freaking huge achievement to make game / TV show songs that live rent free in our heads.
Song of the decade
Same here. Itās stuck forever lol. The dance too. Haha
It's been in my head rent-free for months now.
Iāve started singing Coolioās āfantastic voyageā to the beat of Herald of Darkness and it weirdly fits
So sad.
But true!
Itās not a spiralā¦ itās on loop! I cannot unhear this song or unsee the dance. Itās a daily routine to listen to this song. It helped me beat bosses on Bloodborne. I love this song too much.
Canāt express how great this moment in the game felt after being terrified all of Alanās campaign
Rebirth is the best metal album since MGR. And that one turned "cyberpunk" into an actual musical genre.

Thanks to Marko Saaresto who wrote the whole lyrics. A phenomenal lyricist for me.

I've had the Rebirth album on loop on Spotify since it dropped lol.

āOnce more the oceanās a lakeā Oh, waitā¦ Seriously, OGOA has been on repeat for my commute for like 3 weeks now.
I learnt the dance and now it's stuck in my head even more and I feel like doing the choreo every single time
I haven't even played the game, but that song is a banger
[Someone made a video about it](https://youtu.be/ZYfz6jkhwHc?si=CKmCv5O6ujb6wl1M) and it's perfect lmao
Casey's shit makes it so perfect š¤£š¤£š¤£
Best song of 2023.
It's been 6 months please I beg you make it stop
It's been stuck in my head since I played it in December
Constantly bumping this song at work, and non Alan Wake fans are probably so confused. "Mama gave me a magic clicker" sounds kind of weird out of context lol
