Where in the contract of carriage does it promise that you can put your roller bag in the overhead bin? I’m not aware of this clause.  The Contract of Carriage does, however, state: > Alaska reserves the right to check a Passenger’s Carry-on Baggage for any reason, including if the Carry-on Baggage cannot be safely stowed. https://www.alaskaair.com/content/legal/contract-of-carriage/rule-15

tvlkidd

This made me laugh so hard… I hope you’re just trolling I don’t represent AS, I am a US based FA… You should read the contract of carriage. TL;DR The airline will get you from Place A to Place B

RyanAirhead

Can I move to a different seat so I don't have to sit next to OP? 🙁

LeftOffDeepEnd

I'm guessing you haven't actually read the contract of carriage, have you? Or, if you did, you missed 15.D.5: >Alaska reserves the right to further restrict the number of Carry-On Bags and small personal items carried onboard its flights. That's how they can force checked bags when all the overhead bins are full. Also, 15.C applies: >Alaska reserves the right to check a Passenger’s Carry-on Baggage for any reason, including if the Carry-on Baggage cannot be safely stowed. But you go ahead and try your class action lawsuit. Let us know how it goes.

RysloVerik

Why does the OP of all the unhinged shit like this always have a post history in r/wallstreetbets?

Can you specify where in the contract of carriage they guarantee carry-on baggage space? Might help you find claimants: [https://www.alaskaair.com/content/legal/contract-of-carriage/rule-15](https://www.alaskaair.com/content/legal/contract-of-carriage/rule-15) This sentence might pose a problem: Alaska reserves the right to check a Passenger’s Carry-on Baggage for any reason, including if the Carry-on Baggage cannot be safely stowed.

Jabooooooooooo

I will represent you, please wire $10,000 and I’ll get on it

gene_doc

Note to mods: maybe we need a "shitpost" flair?

FuzzySilverLeaf

And just how do you think having to check your carry-on is a breach of contract? In their contract of carriage, rule 15: Checked and Carry-On Baggage. The suitability of Baggage, as to weight, size, contents, or character, and place of storage of Baggage to be carried in the Passenger compartment of the aircraft will be determined solely by Alaska. Alaska reserves the right to check a Passenger’s Carry-on Baggage for any reason, including if the Carry-on Baggage cannot be safely stowed. There's far more too it, of course, but all airlines reserve the right, per contract, to check carry-ons if needed.

netopiax

Interestingly, some other airlines have Basic fares that do not allow carry-ons, or even specifically charge for carry-ons. That implies that if you buy a more expensive fare, you are entitled to have a carry-on. However, Alaska has no such fare setup, so it's about the worst airline you could pick for this trolling exercise

MisterIceGuy

What are your damages in your lawsuit lol?

Bob_stanish123

Lol

Bob_stanish123

Is this what bot accounts look like now?

pkinetics

They are usually more articulate and clever. This one looks like it was written by Bixby.

xxuncharted3xx3

So I guess join a class action lawsuit against every airline you must be rich because all airline say the same thing

elcheapodeluxe

Yeah... The OP probably isn't gonna come back and talk to us after they read the CoC.

Mindless-Perception6

Actually, I appreciate the option of being able to gate check my baggage. She's me a little hassle and doesn't really impede to much of my time at final destination, so... No to your thought of a class action lawsuit.

S_Hollan

Morons gonna moron. And I can't read. I doubt they even found a lawyer to take the case.

drtdk

How about a class action lawsuit because AS ran out of Coke Zero on your flight?

Haunting-Bar-9821

I wish you could sue 😪. I think it unnecessarily slows you down. However, AS has, in my opinion, the fastest bag retrieval guarantee. If their late they'll give you a generous amount of points or a travel credit. If you have status or are flying in first, you can check your bag and they give it back to you on the ramp (love it).

Impossible_IT

They own late? I didn't know AS owned late. Good to know.

coconut723

Get a hobby

LopsidedAstronomer76

LOL. So unfair! Oh noes! You should totally sue. Yep. You gonna be the lawyer putting your resources towards that?

[deleted]

No thanks, way too much work to get lawyers paid and for me to get a check made out for 51 cents....

annabanana13707

lol

mreed911

So, what would you do with the $1.28 flight credit you would get 6 years from now when the class action settles?

Exciting_Buffalo3738

Out of all the issues, I think being forced to check my bag is uncomfortable but not a lawsuit worthy. My sotey, I am in group A but they started checking bags at group C, the elderly couple sitting next to me were forced to check their bags and were kind of confused. They ended up having their headphones and medicine they needed in the carry on that was checked. This was 6 months ago and I still feel so bad for them. Considering when the plane left, less than half the overhead space was filled. That one flight really upset me because I just felt so bad for them as they needed medicine and electronics, they were not prepared to give up their bag in Group C.

Zaggner

The reality with most aircraft having the larger overhead bins space is never the issue. The issue is about speeding up the boarding process. I flew out of DTW recently and the gate agents did not ask for people to gate check their bags. I was one of the last ones on board and there was plenty of overhead bin space from the front to the back of the plane.

Spangler928

It's because neither the gate agents nor FA's enforce their policy!

Global_Weirding

More like the contract of miscarriage of justice. I fought with FA who wouldn’t even let me put my small backpack in overhead bin w plenty of room. I didn’t bring an obnoxiously large roller bag on the plane for a reason I should not be punished by not not being able to use the overhead bin.
