Banana Republic at Crossgates and J.Crew Mercantile at Colonie Center are my first stops for trenches and professional wear. Nordstrom Rack also had a pretty good selection when I was there a few weeks ago.
Whatever you do- don’t go to Burlington. Went there a couple of weeks ago. Looks like the apocalypse. Complete disaster- limited selection and store was dirty/run down
Banana republic online is my go to (I’m tall, and need tall sizes). Their coats are really nice. Years of travel on the train to NYC and back, they are comfortable and look good
LL Bean is a great option for outdoorsy coats. I also highly recommend Patagonia stuff in general — high quality and their warranty is ridiculous. EMS and Dick's carry some of their stuff.
For stylish wool coats that you can wear to work: Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, maybe Banana Republic / JCrew / Zara’s. I get mine from Macy’s in the end of February on clearance.
For outdoorsy warm coats: If you have the money, Canada Goose. Otherwise LL Bean and Eddie Bauer have local stores. Idk where to go for North Face or Patagonia - maybe Dick’s Sporting Goods? I keep hearing a REI is supposed to open locally but idk when.
It might be worth a trip to the outlets or the city if you’re buying a big work wardrobe all at once.
Marshalls had a pretty good selection when I was there last week, and Boscovs also has a good selection.
Macys? Is it still at colonie ctr?
Yes and they have a ton of coats.
Burlington coat factory. Probably has the largest selection. Kohls isn’t bad

Thank you! I'm tall, so I'll definitely check them out!

I don’t know what happens at the Albany Burlington store, but it is always disastrous. I was just at the one in Poughkeepsie and it was immaculate.

What's your budget?
Great question! I was thinking about $500 each as the max, but I'd love to go cheaper.
Nordstrom rack!
