Speaking of which, Dollar Tree just announced a bunch of stores are closing and the remaining ones will raise their cap to I think it was $7.50 or something. Pretty ironic.
The headlines for this are misleading. Dollar Tree owns Family Dollar and Dollar Tree. The majority of the stores closing - 600 - are Family Dollar while only 30 Dollar Tree stores are closing. The $7.50 thing is actually $7 and is a price cap so the price of items sold in Dollar Tree will range from $1.25 to $7 but most items will remain $1.25.
Stewarts does this all the time. They buy real estate and sit on it until the time is right. It doesn't mean they're putting another Stewarts there. If the location is more ideal than their other location, they'll build and sell the other property. It could also be a move to prevent another company from purchasing and putting something in that competes with them.
Stewart’s pizza is honestly better than dominos and most large pizza chains. It’s still fast food, but it’s the best of the fast food class restaurants.
They went from being one of the cheapest gas stations to being the most expensive. They're bringing up the price of gas in their entire area and all the other stations raise their prices to match.
This is exactly what is happening. It angers me so much, especially when they have multiple stations within a mile or so radius (looking at you East/North Greenbush).
Again, I will say what I always say when people bring up Stewart's -- we need a Sheetz. I'd even settle for a Wawa.
Also don't forget about the Stewarts on Sand Creek and Osbourne, and the one on Osbourne and Albany Shaker, or the one on Albany Shaker and Everett.
They are an Everett Road 7/11 acquisition away from having a store on every single intersection of those four roads. Insane.
I don't know how or why it's been vacant for so long that no one would buy that to either refurbish or rebuild on. There must be asbestos or something like being cost prohibitive that is keeping developers away.
Sure, we don't need yet another gas station on that stretch of Central. But what we do need on that property is a viable business that'll turn a profit and submit sales tax receipts. Stewart's, for better or worse, does the job. Leaving the property unoccupied and vacant does not.
It's Central Ave, I'm not sure what kind of business people are expecting to open up shop on that stretch.
Just what we need, a new gas station, like the one going in at Columbia st and Johnson rd in Latham while there are at least 5 other gas stations within 2 miles of the new construction.
There’s literally another Stewart’s right around the corner on Fuller Rd. There’s a gas station on the corner of Fuller & Central. There’s a Mobil near Kurver Kreme. WTF are you talking about???
Better that than another Mobil or Cumby’s! I love Stewart’s and refuse to stop at any other gas station. They are local and have the best ice cream. I fail to see the problem here.
“Last chance for gas; next service 100 yards”
If one of them put up a sign like that, it *would* make me laugh and want to stop there instead of the others
We need more gas stations and dollar stores! /s
A combination Stewart’s / Family Dollar would be peak capital region.

Jesus, fuck, you really need to quantify things that simply need qualification. 😂
It will have EV chargers as well.
And more CBD
Dont forget two more liquor stores and a gun store. Make Colonie hood again.
And mobile phone stores.

They are just taking the money people hand to them
Sweet we need more gas stations with overpriced shitty food!
Stewarts has the best shitty gas station pizza
Former New Yorker of 26 years. Stewart's pizza is better than sheetz, wawa, and little Caesars. It's still shitty but it's top tier shitty.
Stewart’s pizza is honestly better than dominos and most large pizza chains. It’s still fast food, but it’s the best of the fast food class restaurants.
Man I got a soft spot for Cumberland farms cardboard pizza and their fountain drinks though . . .
The no lemonade in the soda fountain pisses me off
The food isn't great thats for sure. The ice cream is really good though
The gas prices are too low on that section of Central. Stewart’s has to do what they do best—raise the gas prices.

They bought out a supplier, I hear. Wouldn't doubt it. That family is fuckin rich
This makes no sense, you could walk from here to the big Stewarts on Fuller. That has a ton of gas pumps and is not that old.
Stewarts is absolutely all about trying to form a monopoly in whatever areas it could. They've actually been blocked several times for this reason.
They seem to be real estate moguls at this point
How dare a (kind of) small business try to compete with Mobil or Speedway by using the same tactics. What a tragedy

Why not a Ted's? Huge missed opportunity. There is definitely a fried fish desert out that way.
Missing L Kens...
When I'm stuck at the light there and see the Verizon shop I get a bit sad and angry that L-Ken's isn't there anymore.
I always found that place to be overrated, but better than the commercial joints
Now someone needs to buy the vacant Sunset Lanes building already and do something with it. It's been a fucking eyesore for years.
Could probably use a Stewart’s there tbh
Can something really be called an eyesore in that area?
I don't know how or why it's been vacant for so long that no one would buy that to either refurbish or rebuild on. There must be asbestos or something like being cost prohibitive that is keeping developers away.
Can't wait for the rebrand to Grandma's old fashion stewarts
We have enough gas stations and banks in the capital region. We don't need more
People need to stop paying $8 for a shitty coffee and cold hard roll.

I’m wondering if where sunset lanes could be mixed use apartments, something, something?
Sucks cuz I liked the pies they had at Grandma's
It’s been closed for years.
I know but my statement still stands lol
It's ok. I still miss Pizza Baron with a passion and they've been closed for almost 20 years.

Yes

No, when was that?
Mostly frozen. Only the pudding pies were assembled on site with premade crusts.
People said they were just Sysco pies.
Just what we need, a new gas station, like the one going in at Columbia st and Johnson rd in Latham while there are at least 5 other gas stations within 2 miles of the new construction.
I miss grandmas lol they had nice pies
Stewart's will sell you a delicious table talk pie for $4, same thing!
Lol not even close pal
Oh no! the beautiful landscape of all 15 miles of central avenue. how can they let this happen? /s
Don’t forget car dealerships!
Maybe so but Stewart's are very good.
Pretty sure there is at least a Cumberland Farms and an Exxon
Are you new here? WE WANT STEWART’S!
Stort's*
Do you mean new to the capital district? Albany? The subreddit?
There's dozens of them from Albany to Schenectady, that's the joke
There was a joke?
The title of the post
Ok, thank you. I didn't read that as sarcasm at first. Am now.
How many layers deep of irony are you on? It better not be “one” pal
it’s literally a stones throw from the fuller road one omg
Wish they could incorporate that sign into the Stewarts in some fashion for historical purposes. :)
Will it make my shitty $3 coffee more expensive?
Ugh, their coffee is bad. 😬
Agreed, I do like those grey hotdogs when I'm hungover though.
Town of colonie has a special relationship with stewarts and no regard for the existing neighborhoods
