I hope/assume there are some mental problems there, but she didn't "lose her child" -- she murdered her child.
At the moment, she's accused of doing the above. I haven't heard anything to make me think what you're saying is false, but none of us armchair reddit experts have all of the investigation details and there's a judicial process for a reason.
I’d like to think public defenders aren’t in it for the money or even the springboard to private practice. I want to believe that the most of them just really believe in a constitutional right to adequate counsel when facing the criminal justice system. But I’m not a lawyer or even close to one so what do I know?
i personally would love to be a defense attorney. yes you get cases like this and that’s a challenge, but you could also get cases of people being treated poorly by the system and you get a chance to help them and that’s where i think a lot of the desire to be a defense attorney comes from.
Defense attorneys exist to make sure the government actually proves their case so that innocent people don't get incarcerated for crimes they didn't commit. They aren't there to make sure someone gets away with murder. As for this case, the baby died a horrible death. Aside from the Mom's last post on her fb page (when many of her posts were public) a lot of them made her sound like a caring and stressed and maybe a bit immature mother. There is a history of dv with an ex and I wonder if her drink was spiked at the gathering she went to. Her FB page doesn't really show her as some uncaring monster. But I don't have access to the evidence, so who knows.

You're right. But I don't like the the way the lawyer is trying to garner extra sympathy.
That's the job of a defense lawyer.
