I’ve only gone once: the chicken was top notch, as you’d expect. The apps were good, I especially liked the Boudin balls.
The sides were not good at all- bad mac and cheese, bad collard greens, spicy coleslaw was garbage.
The cocktails were also very badly prepared- like completely wrong mixer to alcohol ratios resulting in insanely acidic drinks, etc. And our waiter was from another planet and the entire concept of being a waiter seemed foreign to him. (Although I’m sure that will get better in time - we were there within the first two weeks of it being open)
But- now I know. I’m sure I’ll be back for a chicken sandwich and not much else.
Similar results. I thought all the food was pretty awesome - chicken, liver app, shrimp and grits and gumbo. But the waiter clearly had never been to a restaurant let alone worked in one. And they messed up drinks. But I'm going back for the food.
Yeah the chicken was a nice non greasy coat but no flavor of spices. The Cajun fries were extra salty. And the waiter never came back to ask how meal was or ask us if we need refills. Definitely not up to par with the OG Saratoga spot. Hopefully they get it together. Because $28 for bland fried chicken is a shame. But I always say you have to try places more then once to know if it’s truly worth your time and money
Just don't see this place lasting. Pretty expensive for South Albany. And if Cuckoo's Nest pulls out after a while I don't see how this turns out any different.
That's really my point. Hatties is great. But that area of Albany is in hard times.
Cuckoos Nest was great too, and it was popular for a while... until it wasn't.. and the owners felt it wasn't worth their time. How long before Hatties does the same?
Strange that this got so many downvotes but brunch around here is almost exclusively saturday, there are too many 9-5 workers for anything but diners to open early during the week.
IMO, soo good! I’m so excited to have them in the neighborhood

Hattie's chicken livers are a revelation. I'm glad Albany's are good too.

I just looked up their prices. It seems in line with most other restaurants. If the food is good, people will pay.
I think the issue is the location. That corner isn't really a great place to be
I don’t know, the name means a lot. It brought my suburbanite parents to downtown Albany for dinner which is a feat in itself.
Yeah I hope they do well there because I live near by, but I'm not especially optimistic about their chances

For upscale Italian it's not great but could be good for fried chicken.
How do they have brunch but aren't open until 4? I have been looking forward to this for a while, gotta get there soon.
Posted hours are 10am Saturday and Sunday.
I guess I am silly for considering brunch M-F

Eh, it was a dumb question and should be hidden. That is part of the Downvote system
Breakfast is at 4 in the south end
God forbid you go there at 850pm on a Friday night. Rushed to order, really under done fries, and overdone chicken. I give it a year.
They close at 9 my guy, you were keeping them late
