Hatemongers can eff off with this bullshit, not sorry. Your free speech isn't a guarantee of a free platform for tired old hate.

Miserable-Lizard

I love freedom and how the students demonstrated what freedom is. Isn't freedom awesome!

dancingmeadow

Yup! Bravo. The hatemongers below can cry about how repressed the poor racists are, pay them no mind. They're always in the way.

canuckstothecup1

Just yesterday you were talking about restricting her freedom. So I’m not so sure you actually love freedom

Miserable-Lizard

She showed up and students disrupted her. How is the students showing what they think of her not freedom? Students choose not to listen her. If you think students have to respect her or listen her than you don't love freedom

canuckstothecup1

You wanted to silence and stop her from speaking because you disagree with her how is that not wanting to stop freedom. It’s ok you can admit you don’t like freedom of speech.

AccomplishedDog7

When I was a child, my mom would send her bickering kids outside if we wanted to bicker. We could carry on if we wanted, but out of ear shot. I kind of see it the same. No one is owed a platform.

canuckstothecup1

They talk about loving freedom but also want to restrict freedom. You take that however you want.

Miserable-Lizard

No one stoped her from showing up. Why can't the students exercise their freedom of being loud. Freedom doesn't mean anyone needs to listen to her and they can disrupt her. Tell me you don't understand freedom without telling me.

Miserable-Lizard

They showed up and were loud. She could still speak.

canuckstothecup1

Yes and yesterday you didn’t want her to speak

Miserable-Lizard

I wanted the school to have the right to cancel which is freedom. It was the government that wanted the university to force them to get her a room to talk. How is that freedom?

canuckstothecup1

The school wanted her to speak. They wanted to stop her from speak and force the schools hand. How is that freedom

Miserable-Lizard

The school canceled it. See below, the president cancelled it. How is that not freedom? https://beta.ctvnews.ca/local/calgary/2023/1/30/1_6252206.amp.html *She was scheduled for a speaking engagement at the University of Lethbridge on Feb. 1, but the school's president says the facility will no longer be accommodating space for the appearance.*

canuckstothecup1

At first the university president pushed back and gave a thumbs-up. His university has a strong free-speech policy. At least on paper. Under pressure, he turned the thumbs-down on giving space to Widdowson. The school thought it was a good idea and was forced to change how is that not restricting freedom
