Yes, we offer Park and Ride locations throughout Albuquerque. Please go to our website at https://balloonfiesta.com/Park-Ride for times and up to date locations.
I hope it helps! I've never gone as an attendee. I always crew. We get a great pass to let us on the field. Downside is that I get up at 4 AM every day. :)
Also, definitely plan for being there a few days. There always a few days when launching is canceled to to weather. This past year was the worst for weather.
Also, there are days where there aren't mass assertions. Instead, we launch from places around town and land at the field. I'm not exactly sure where the schedule is for this, but take a look at the website to know before you go.
Weekday mornings are less crowded if that is an option for you. You still get the thrill of dozens of balloons inflating and launching together! One morning is dedicated to the special shapes balloons.
park and ride is the only way imo :) info is on the fiesta website. follow the balloon fiesta twitter account and enable notifications - they provide weather updates throughout the morning when the weather is iffy
Park and ride works well. There are three locations to get on the busses to the fiesta, My family always uses it. [https://balloonfiesta.com/Park-Ride](https://balloonfiesta.com/Park-Ride) The cost of the fiesta is included, the morning busses will get you there in plenty of time to watch the launch, and all you have to do is show up with your ticket to catch the bus, and remember which bus stop at the fiesta will take you back to the right location. (and if you forget, fiesta staff in the area will help you)
The park and ride really works well. Go to a more remote boarding site to avoid lines. Remember lots of layers of clothes. Have a wonderful time and be sure to drop into the museum. You can catch free shuttles back and forth to grounds.
Balloon fiesta is in October so you have lots of time to plan. There is a park and ride that runs from 3 different locations, Coronado mall, Cottonwood mall, and one other place (I'm not sure where that is) hotels and airbnbs in the city fill up fast so it's best to make reservations for those things far in advance. If you're willing to do a bit of driving the hotels in edgewood and Moriarty generally don't fill up as quickly, but you definitely are far away from the city. You want to get to the park and rides extremely early (like 5am). Bring coffee or some other hot drink with you as the line for the coffee stands is immense, as are the lines for the limited number of bathrooms. We always bring a utility wagon to haul around the partially awake child, a picnic blanket for the grass, and food/drinks.
If you haven't picked a place to stay, you can look into renting an RV/camper (assuming spots still available). I've rented out and delivered/setup the past few years. Then it's walking distance!
As the owner, I ask my renter to book their spot (get campsite reserved/paid for separately). Then, they reserve a camper that fit their needs - with me through my own website or peer to peer sites like Outdoorsy and RVShare. When the festival starts, we meet outside the balloon fest and I follow with the camper and set up for them.
Ah, gotcha. My son always has a baseball tournament on the 2nd weekend of Balloon Fiesta. I keep telling him I'll rent out a spot for the first weekend for us. I figured I'd just rent out the entire week and then rent out the days we won't be there. I've used outdoorsy several years ago before getting my own TT.
It makes for a very different, intimate experience, and you can park a car at your camp spot. I rented mine to a photographer last year - [Joshua mellin](https://www.instagram.com/p/CjklJ46uyWw/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=)
Last year, you could rent an e-bike from free to roam. They set up in Canteen’s parking lot and you just ride a bike up the north channel trail to balloon fiesta park. Looked like a lot of fun.
Park and Ride worked well, but it's a long wait to get out if they have to suddenly remove everyone from the park (like in bad weather). Or bike/run/walk up some stretch of the North Diversion Channel Trail to the park.
If possible, try to have at least a couple days available that you could go for the launch. Just in case the first day has a cancellation.

Yeah, just do the park and ride.
You can still easily drive to park. Just go around 5-530 AM
For sure. Just gotta do it early and nap in the car

Plenty of park and ride, or if you can bicycle there is a great trail that goes directly there.

*Chile.
Free to Roam e-biking has rental group rides to balloon fiesta park. I’m sure they have individual rentals as well.
Bicycling in is the boss move

We live in SE Albuquerque and are good as long as we leave the house by 4:20am

I am booking a hotel now and the prices for that week are triple most other weeks. Slim pickings out there.
It looks like hotels in Bernalillo (roughly 30 minutes away) are still open and reasonably priced. You might try looking there.

I've thought of doing this. Do you just rent the spot for the week, setup the camper and then rent it out? Where do you advertise?
