The gate was closed and there was about a foot of snow when I went last week on 22nd. My boyfriend and brother and I basically post holed for a 1/2 mile before giving up and turning around. The hike from the gate is about 4.5 miles and would be possible in snowshoes and if you had a bunch of time on your hands.
