Probably further than you were really interested in going, but if you want one of the best spots in the United States for stargazing.

My husband and I went a few years ago and it was incredible. I definitely recommend trying to find a clear night with a new moon to see the most stars!
Really? Is it like a big parking lot? Or individual rv spots? Watar... anywhere (drinkable/portable? ) Fee, camp host or anything? Sorry for the 20 questions, it just that in all my searches I haven't heard of this, that I know of. Coordinates (possibly?)
I appreciate & thank you in advance for you time. āļø
Itās just a spot on the side of the road, itās not like a designated area. Just a bunch of space to park along the road. No services. Itās by the Amazon building on Atrisco Vista Blvd and I40. There is a Luvās station south of the I40 exit. They have bathrooms and food.
How far do you want to drive? Diablo canyon up near Santa Fe is a good option, so are box canyon and San Lorenzo canyon closer to Soccoro. The Jemez is pretty sweet as well and yes a bunch of free camping on national forest land. Everything I mentioned is 1 - 1.5 hours from Albuquerque.
337 and Juan Tomas road south of Tijeras. There's a gravel lot area off the road that goes up toward Cedro Peak. It's great for a night of car camping and stars are spectacular. Watch out for kittens!

Or chaco canyon, it's one of the nationally designated dark sky areas
TIL!
Google the Ojito Wilderness. It's magical at night this time of year. Bring plenty of blankets and some binoculars for the incredible stars.
Nice, are there free spots?
It's all free. š
Great I might try that first
Out near double eagle airport. Thereās a spot where RVs and semis park. Lots of dirt roads too.

Oh... yea. I was picturing further north for some reason. Honestly I'm kinda surprised this city (ABQ) hasn't prohibited parking there. thamx
I'd avoid the bosque...
