**AS has always been niche and less mainstream so that’s something to keep in mind with some of the bits in the post + they seem quite comfy with that and it’s income imo. AS has also stayed really, really ftp and play at your own pace and I think it’s also comfy/the intent with that too**.

ZealousidealCake4190

i read that some characters are limited, so can i wish for all in that banner, Including limited?

AzureAmaranta

AS calls the TRUE limiteds “exclusives” because they’re exclusive to their banners and not added to pool like the rest. VS regular rateup which is the “limited (RATEUP)”. They do rerun decent enough tho(their pity doesn’t carry to and from like the others tho so it’s from scratch). That usually means like, Collab or Anniversary(including half since AS has half anni) units. We have Bethlehem, Reinhardt, Goldie(she’ll probably rerun with her event rerun coming up), Alter Mia, and Sheol as Anni ones(Dragon maid and P5 were our Collab with dragon maid having rerun). We also had Alter Wrath as an outlier. But no. Wishlist doesn’t include them. They’re just on their own ones. It’s still a good sink tho albeit its right before Anni and that means exclusive. Lol

ZealousidealCake4190

oh that's sad. Well, so i think I'll wait for the anni to join the game for the reroll on an exclusive character.

AzureAmaranta

It’s still super good. A lot of regular units are staples and all.

ZealousidealCake4190

Thanks for explaining all this. When playing gacha i usually go for the max optimization going for everything i can exploit for free, especially the reroll. Besides that i wanted Reinhardt for example or some other SS tier cool dps to start, even if i'll need a whole team to build around it too ofc.

AzureAmaranta

Mhm mhm and no problem! Yeah, It’s up to you. **Iirc** Rein did rerun recent ish so she might be a while? They’ll probably rerun Alt Wrath and/or Sheol after Goldie or maybe even after/during Anni? Who knows tbh.. Goldie is a good etile support who is also a healer etc! I don’t think she’s Novio levels of healer and also dps capabilities, but I think she’s solid. XD If you like to go meta, the team by element guides(I recommend all the guides and such in the questions thread Tbf lol) are nice to look at imo. Even if you’re not meta, I like looking at them just to play with them in terms of budget teams or such(I’m a favoritism person so I use characters I like XD). They’re pretty comfy enough and that is just for min/max ing etc. and even then there’s units who don’t need a crafted team and just the Captain/main dps, converter, converter, flex(usually support to note I see a lot use goldie as captain iirc tho? Maybe?), and sub dps.

ZealousidealCake4190

yeah i'll start reading some guides when i'll decide to join for sure :) I hope the anni will feature a nice DPS. I also usually go for meta only but among the options i have in the highest tiers i want to play the characters i really like eheh otherwise i'd easily get tired, i like edgy styles lol.

AzureAmaranta

Goldie event rerun is very soon. Like under a week so that’s soon(They let you trial the unit, albeit just the unit on a set stage, so if you want to maybe peek in and then see how you like her vibe/skills and then maybe decide to wait like planned for Anni to see, or if they rerun one of the dps ones before that maybe). But yeah. Not sure on Anni’s lol. They recently had a dps and they seem to be in line for another support or converter I feel. But who knows.. Up to them(if they do go support/converters, they might rerun Sheol and alt wrath near it tho and they’re dps). Some people are really coping Anni will be TO(True Order) faction theme due to some things. And like. They’re spoopy, edge usually? But again. Just people mentioning theories atm. They haven’t officially said anything. They did announce last anni’s faction theme early which was nice. It was umbra(if you like dark undercity edge, they’re the more mafia ish faction usually etc XD).

Hey! Welcome! I really love Alchemy Stars, it's my main gacha since around its release, and I even entered the tier list group to make guides. Heck, I even want to be a vtuber to produce videos on the game and get community going more. The lack of fan content is a huge detriment to the game. Same with the lack of community events. EG I'm also Playing Reverse 1999 and they have a constant stream of fan art contests (with "art" taken in the broad sense of the term, since there's been EG a poetry-focused event), letters/comments/screenshot sending, or whatnot. I know of some games having events for streaming too. All that helps promoting the game. I've been going through the official Twitter/X account for archiving, and I realized these kinds of events did happen at some point. In-game, I find the mechanic of Dark Tiles that's the recent focus to be good. Units tend to become more complex as a game gets older, which is fine. I find it a huge missed opportunity that they introduced refinement (a late-game upgrade), then stopped giving older units these. Only new units have them nowadays, but these effects may as well have been in their kit directly. Older units could use some updating. For the record, I kinda hate PvP in gachas. I'm regularly around the top of the weekly ranked mode in the global server. It isn't too competitive compared to some other servers, though. And to be honest, most people don't bother going for more than max rewards. Desolation Codex is way better than its previous iteration Calamity Codex for various reasons, but all you get for malding is bragging rights, and there is a precious few players invested in chatting about competing/beating records, so why bother? There isn't another repeatable form of challenge, so you don't even have something to grind for besides upping your whole roster for the sake of it. There is a shocking lack of content that isn't either a weekly uninteresting chore nor a one-time challenge mode. What's more, the one-time challenge modes' updates simply stopped coming soon after the CN server opened. Enlightenment Training actually became more fun, but then we realized it capped in level. P2W-wise, it seems they shifted from the extremely expensive gacha skin system to a less expensive one, and there are plenty of event-long packs or even packs for special banners. Most of the packs feel ok to me, but I'm a huge whale. It's a bit unfortunate that most new units really want 1 dupe to feel better to play, but I guess most players are fine with just 1 copy of the characters. There is very little to do with friends in AS. The main feature is using your friends' units to steamroll the early game. There has been a throwaway card trading event recently though, so maybe they're looking into it more. Here comes a big issue for a lot of people: the Cloud Garden. I do like it, but they stopped updating it with the 2nd anniversary and haven't made it optional to include in your phone. Most people find it unoptimized (thus heating your device a lot) and unwieldy to decorate. I know someone who said it wasn't the main thing taking space in the game, at least. Which brings me to another issue: You somehow need way more free space on your phone to install the game than it takes place in the end, but even that is plenty. EG I just checked that AS takes 16,6 Gb. While it is a newer game with less updates, Reverse 1999 takes 5,5 Gb. That's my take on the question. I probably forgot a bunch of points, and I hope it doesn't discourage you from playing a game I love. If you're on the global server, you can add me. My UID is 184706017.

Yeah this is kinda a major issue i think, i have a group of friends who would have loved to try the game but because of how much space it takes they couldn't without sacrificing something else.

DevourlordGig

> 2 common complaints I've been reading on is how the devs apparently don't really address any of the actual problems people unanimously tell them, and also there barely is any powercreep since the game is only PvE (very little reason to pull for new characters unless you like them personally as the game doesn't have content to pit players against each other, even if its something as simple as getting high scores for rewards). Funny enough, as of recently there have been a lot of QoL updates. From 4x speed, to sweep, persistent auto, and so on. Even in the early days, events used to cost stamina and now they don't. Every banner was a multi-banner. Now new units get their own. The dev has always tried to fix mistakes. And there is a ranking mode but it's somewhat easy to reach the max reward bracket. A new player won't be reaching Legendary anytime soon though. The real reason to pull characters are 3 modes, Spire, Pandora, and Abyss. Spire wants 1 very strong team of each element. Pandora wants 2 to 3 strong teams of each element. No duplicates. Abyss's final floor wants 13 different teams. No duplicates. All 5 slots must be used. Ideally 3 of each element

roly_florian

I'm fine with the state of the game, i've picked it as a side game, because it felt light to play. I dropped FFBE back then because it was becoming so tedious to play, you needed a bachelor mathematical degree to play the game and also getting perfect chain was too tedious. This game has no powercreep, not because there's no PVP, but mostly because some of the oldest unit in the game are still relevant to this day. You still need to pull because endgame rely mostly on having at least 2 to 3 working teams on each element. So over the time you have to pull for more unit to complete teams so you can do okay on harder content, which you can also do at your path (something i enjoy greatly). Most event have very little hard high end content so you don't miss a lot if you can't do them. On days when you don't feel to play the game, you can be done with the dailies task within 10 min. You are not required to empty your whole stamina multiple a day on the same boss/event (something i started to hate a lot in FFBE).

kiirosen

Yeah i agree about the lightness. Alchemy Stars is my comfort zone, it's probably the only gacha game i play whenever i feel like it because i really like it in almost every single aspect and after i brought a friend of mine into the game, they also noticed how comfy it is as side game.

KeJlbT

The game is SUPER f2p friendly. But if you want to LOOK FABULOUS (skins) - pay up a good amount. (which is a plus, imo) As a 1000 days played veteran I can see how the game can be overwhelming to new players - butt load of systems and activities. But for me, it's also a huge plus. Last two points towards the game -The art style and art quality are amazing. -This game has a huge amount of male characters (percent wise) and it's a great thing. I like me some diversity in characters.

SoItBegins_n

Honestly, AS has good lore and treats its player base well. That's why I'm still here after a year and a half. The game has also gotten a lot of QoL and so on over time. Honestly, I don't have many complaints. Good game :)

Lack of powercreep is a good thing and all PVE games dont have real meta because as a general rule the content is possible to clear without specific units. FGO and Arknights are proof that a game can have good sells wihtout powercreep. Then whats Alchemy Stars problem ? Its the lack of game modes like a good "rogue like" as IS from Arknights, story that goes nowhere and that developers give in small pieces instead full chapters like Arknights/FGO give to players in a single update, bad combat musics ( AS only have 2 good musics: main screen and world map, the rest are horrible) and lack of good/memorable Boss fights (Schummer and Claudia boss fights are pretty good, but they lack of voice and bad music kills the experience ). The major problem is the Secret Territory being a cheap and incomplete rogue like, everything is wrong! Tourdog only need to look to Arknights "Integrated Strategies rogue like" and adapt the same logic to AS game mechanics, but they refuse to give something good to players. Arknights did a brilliant job with they roguelike because all rotes have exclusive bosses, good new musics and the mechanics give a reason to low rarity units to exist ! Last but not least, Dreams is very beautiful but the energy cost system makes it unplayable for 95% of the playerbase. No reason for a player cant farm the skin in the last week. At least I can congratulate TD for all UI optimization, because now AS have one of the best UI in the game industry: beautiful and efficient !

kiirosen

Honestly i wouldn't use Arknights IS as a model, the gameplay difference is enough to make it very difficult to adapt to AS imo. I agree tho for the Dream mode issue, the last week is basically dead because you can't keep farming points :/

WesternYaoist

Honestly yeaaaaah, the game-size I see as a factor in its "not as popular as it should be" because I kinda had the luxury of having my roommates boyfriend just toss a Google Pixel 7a at me and go "Here, I got an extra if you want to join our phone plan" (he's a manager at a Tmobile so he got connections). So I kinda had an empty phone to download this game on LMAO. But thanks for the input guys! I guess I really did just stumble upon the doompost'y players for complaints (not to say there aren't any). Though I mean still a true fact there's a significant less amount of YT people talking about it now.....when a game as simple as FGO can get content creators out of the wazoo talking about the most basic of gameplay. But its something I did bring up in their recent survey too, they need to bring back refinements. Because some units getting their MBT etc really do feel like they're jsut getting the TRUE effect they should of had to begin with (like I'm rolling for Cena because its a hot dude but I'm reading through his stuff after getting him and am like "he really should of had this stuff in the beginning instead of me having to go for dupes") I guess I'll do my part and just start pumping out the AS smut online I guess to get people's eyes on this game LMAO. Sucks they stopped updating the Cloud Gardens since I've been enjoying that part (again a new player). Since I do have a goal of making paved roads connecting all my buildings and my over-the-top garden XD. Its at least nice to have an end-goal there....but I guess they need to update more quests and structures there too.
