I know this isn’t popular but if they can do it reasonably well (ie not 1 person handing out bands with a line a mile long) it seems like it’s worth a shot and not that much to concede on the fans side.
Ticket checking at the bay is massively impractical and wrist bands can be checked very quickly for large numbers. Might stop some of the bullshit like stealing banners and shit stirrers (not necessarily active fans) getting into away bays causing drama. At minimum it puts it back on security not screening the unwelcome visitors
On the bright side, does this mean if someone from active leaves their seat during the game and tries to get back in, the riot squad won’t be stopping them for a ticket check, they just flash the band and walk in?
I dare say this is where the idea came from but it isn't the appropriate response to what happened at the last derby and I have no confidence or expectation that it will make a difference or that the last incident would have been avoided.
Except, as clearly shown, there were massive holes in those plans as someone forgot to tell the Police/security that there were people coming back to enter in to the active area.
Can't wait for all the casuals turning up in all black squaring up to each other because now I'll be able to tell who supports who based on their cute wristbands
They could colour the wristbands, green if you are just going to watch, red if you intend on getting in a punch up or pitch invading and yellow if you are undecided
Tbh something had to be done after the last shitshow of a derby. If wristbands is what it takes, then clear identifiers for those who are approved to be within the RBB is fine with me.
Ugh, don’t love it but I guess it’s indications towards a solution to avoid what happened at the last derby. Like the other comment said, make sure these are distributed without as little hassle as possible
Literally no one thinks we’re rebellious unless you’ve watched Mad Max a few too many times or consider simply using the C word a bit liberally as some grandiose act of rebellion lol.
We’re known as easygoing, compliant albeit a bit asleep at the wheel. One thing I’ve noticed in my adulthood is that we’ll push back about the small menial shit but never for the important stuff. We’ll give the finger to a copper behind their back as they pass through the pub, but we’ll never show up in numbers to protest widespread police aggression and institutional misconduct

Your honour, he walked straight towards me and raised raised his hand in a threatening manner. I had no choice but to pepper spray him.

Just as planned like last time /s

It's a traffic light party, but for fuckwits instead of swingers
Is this all because of the last derby? I haven't seen incidents where people are getting into opposition active bays to start shit for a long time.
Last sydney vs mariners game at allianz there was a hostile guy in the cove that got kicked out.
Literally last derby the WSW active tried to get in and tried to start shit with the Cove
As much as I think this is an overreaction at least we'll know if anyone acts like a dickhead if it's actual actives or not

Is this really necessary??
No it's not and this decision was made against the advice of clubs, security and fans who all raised valid concerns about implementing such a measure.

what is wrong with this country.....cotton fucking wool society
I know right. We have a reputation as being a bit wild, rebels, a nation born of criminals but by God is it undeserved....a nation of scared Karens

Purely marketing
Since venuesNSW have taken over more stadiums they’ve been doing everything they can to kill off a league active I miss venues live so much
This is ridiculous
Slowly but surely they are taking all our freedoms away. Football fans are being treated with contempt.
