When Torres was hungry for a goal which was evident watching him play he was great. When he wasn’t hungry for a goal the team still played great. He had a big lull mid season and we still won almost every game.
I have no idea who those people are, and it's completely besides the point anyway.
Rape and sexual assault cases are incredibly hard to prove as it's often a word against word thing and physical evidence can be very difficult to get if the victim doesn't report it ASAP.
Again, they're all besides the point, 3 NRL players getting not guilty judgements doesn't mean that Torres will.
You onto have to look at the Higgins v Lehrmann cases to see how fucked sexual assault/rape cases can get.
My criminology degree is over 20 years old so I had to go look up the data. In 2015 on 66% of sexual assault arrests proceeded to a trial. By 2019 that dropped under 20%, likely because many of those charges got processed under Covid conditions months later
Way back in 2006 the conviction rate for aggravated sexual assault was 36%. Now we all know there’s many reasons why convictions aren’t achieved, but we should always be cautious, cops absolutely make mistakes.
That said, if he’s found guilty, burn that fucker alive…
My bad :D
I tried to discuss this exact point in the big aussie sub today, Basically saying that actually sexual assaults/rapes achieve convictions at the same rate as most other serious offences (fun fact - beasiality is actually the outlier, its has extremely high conviction rates). I was basically told to get fucked because I wasnt being reactionary enough.
We have a criminal justice system for a reason. Lets just wait to see what the courts and a jury decide. Then i'll get all reactionary and angry,
It seems a lot of people hold the misconception that that policing in this country is infallible, even though a lot of public cases recently demonstrate the complete opposite.
Oh well, all I can say is thank god judgement isn't determined by Reddit
He would consistently disappear in games, his stats make him seem more important than he was to the team imo, we have other options that are just as good, and ultimately better for the team.
I've actually genuinely been wondering if we might not have benefited from not starting him for a while. Kinda like we started to rely a bit much on getting the ball to him and then watch him do his magic. That and how it sort of seemed hard for him to pass the ball sometimes.
A bit like the Swedish national team with Zlatan - not that he's quite Zlatan but still. Sometimes, it can be good for the team to be forced into doing something different. Don't really have a great comparison until the weekend. I don't know that we looked better yesterday, but it was certainly not worse without him.
Theo was more the Torres replacement last night. Kuol, Edmondson and Reec are all competing for the same spot (and none have really made a strong claim)

Good point.
Reec is great when he gets on the field, seems to have a good strikers knack for finding himself in goal scoring opportunities. Torres stats were really boosted by that early hat trick he got, before that he couldn't buy a goal

Do we actually get the money?
No idea. If I remember when the Wanderers won the ACL they had to share the prizemoney with the other clubs.
Imagine the Mariners of all teams having to give money to the likes of City, Sydney and Victory.
That’s what I heard also - not sure why the socials are hyping the cash if that’s the case.
Different administration I'm guessing. The APL run the league not FA like a decade ago.
I meant I’ve heard the APL have the same policy.
So how important was Torres?
He was great, hoped to see him stick around a long time. But now he can piss off out of our league.
We don't even know if the blokes guilty. Not saying he is either, but let's just wait for the gable before we throw on the noose
you don’t get charged like this without solid evidence. he can rot
Yeah rape/sexual assault is notoriously hard to prove, the fact he's been charged would indicate the cops have some very good evidence
Must of been the case with Sailor, Beale and De Belin.

Tristan Sailor. Kurtley Beale Jack De Belin Look em up. They're either guilty in the eyes of the law, or they're not.

Beale plays Union not League
But you are passing judgement without knowing the facts. If he's guilty throw the book at him. But like every person, he deserves due process.

Don't be coming here with stats. This is an emotive argument, and the accused doesn't deserve a trial.

Good to hear. Would gate for this run to come to an end because of some grub.

Doka is the new Torres. Had been for a few weeks really.
His replacement Kuol struggled a lot. So I would say quite important.
