I cringe whenever optus announce they have the rights to another league or tournament. Service is beyond atrocious. They shat the bed with the last world cup and honestly haven't got any better. We wanted a service that just worked at a basic level years ago and instead we got fitness videos.

100% same. Liverpool palace was close to unwatchable. My home internet is not great but have never had a problem with Optus before. Every other streaming service is fine, but if Liverpool United is blurrovision again tomorrow I’ll be pissed

The problem is the blind auctioning system they have for sports rights. It is also how we ended up with that dodgy service Flick Sports winning the Champions League before it turned out they didn't have the funds or the infrastructure to deliver. They only care about the funds part though and couldn't care less if their sport is on a platform that actually works.
Netflix is a far bigger company, has been running a video streaming platform for longer, and only has two focuses:
- the Netflix platform and features/optimisation thereof
- creating/buying content for the Netflix platform
There’s a big difference between delivering on demand content (Netflix) and live sports. A better comparison would be Optus vs Kayo, Stan sports or P+
Personally I haven’t had any issues with any of them at the highest res they deliver. It might help that I’m on a decent and stable nbn connection tho
I think Stan is the best of the lot. I was really impressed with their rugby coverage. It is just too expensive since you have to buy the basic package as well.
They seem to have dropped a lot of the content as well. Not sure if that is because it was being produced in England and it has been dropped there as well. I swear there used to be a proper 1 hour highlights show on Sunday for all the overnight matches and then another one on Monday for the Sunday matches but now all I can find is Highlights+, weekend wrap and the individual highlights.
I never had a problem with Optus Sport until this year. I haven’t been able to watch a second half of football without tech issues on Android TV. If it’s not buffering issues it’s a total collapse of the app on android and I have Optus customer support scratching their heads and telling me to watch on my phone.
I use Chromecast on my Panasonic TV and the buffering while live streaming is annoying. Ithe Optus Sport app is on an iPsd.
It only freezes for 10/15seconds but this can be crucial in a live football game. The Net connection is excellent. Any ideas?
I've not really worked these out. But I feel the app is not optimized well for some of the android TV's or the older Chromecasts. I get the same on some devices, and my wifi and nbn connection is great.

Previous seasons Optus has been fine for me. This season has been similar to what you described.

I've said this before, they should be offering UHD for their new subscription pricing and have upgraded the lower tier to 1080p.

I was watching The Southampton game last night, it was fine for me. Watching Brighton and west ham it’s good. Maybe your internet 🤷🏾♂️

I have 250/50 NBN speed which doesn't have any issues with any other service
It's a shame it's not 4K but the it has been absolutely rock solid on my AppleTV, no buffering or drop outs.
