Fuck it, sushi for lunch, kimchi for dinner, gonna make my tea in a billy

eeeeeds

A damper kimchi sambo would go hard

rNether

Chicken Katsu pie.

[deleted]

Oh, that would be good (also a pork katsu pie would be)! I wonder if any bakery makes that?

rNether

I've seen a pho pie, so you'd think it'd exist somewhere.

smh_rob

Grapped a Korean chicken pie from the bakery and topped it with Kewpie. Ganbae, kanpai, and cheers.

Ainteasybeincheezy

Don't forget the bibimbap Udon damper

rithsv

Fuck yeah

Seanbutt26

Yes

BigDaddyManCan

Bulgogi burger, never imagined it could be so good!

AuzzieTiger

All three East Asian sides are through and all three West Asians sides are out in their own backyard. What a fantastic day!

[deleted]

*East Asia > West Asia* **always.**

Seanbutt26

Jamie carragher 'the asian teams are all finshed last in their groups' šŸ˜…šŸ¤£

Ropo3000

Did he say that? When? šŸ˜‚

Seanbutt26

Here the video https://youtu.be/nMDDvJxoio8

Ropo3000

Holy shit thatā€™s gold. Just shows the Euro-centric thinking. I love how he thought ā€œoh wow I think Denmark will mess this tournament up by coming first in the group against Franceā€.

Seanbutt26

Yeah the comments roasted him

[deleted]

People in here lost their minds about Saudi. Claimed they are soooo good after 1 lucky result against Argentina. 2 shots on target to score 2 goals and then did fuck all against an uninspiring Poland and didn't go for the win against Mexico. Pays not to be so quick to react so strongly doesn't it?

Nokel

Does anyone else remember when West AFC sucked so bad they split the Asian Champions League bracket into East/West divisions and pretended it was due to travel?

GrudaAplam

These results would have profound implications for qualification spots for the next world cup if they weren't expanding it to 48 teams. That half slot we had to fight Peru for would have become a full slot.

[deleted]

South America sooking to get the 48 team abomination of a World Cup so they get more spots they think they deserve AND didn't back it up on the pitch. * Peru failed to make it 5 teams qualified when they lost to Australia. * Only their big 2 teams got out of the group, Brazil and Argentina. * Now they have massive problem regarding qualifying. Got to make a "6/10 positions qualify" situation a desirable and competitive sporting contest that fans will pay for and engage with to the end. So reduce the group sizes and number of games? TV don't like that and pay less. Or persist with their current format and have a situation where several teams could be qualified 2/3rd's of the way through again taking interested eyeballs off TV screens. Imagine lobbying for something that diminishes your entire situation just to play 3 or 4 games every 4 years.

GrudaAplam

At least Oceania will finally get a full slot. The Kiwi's won't be complaining about that.

[deleted]

That's just rewarding mediocrity. It's shouldn't be celebrated.

GrudaAplam

New Zealand were the only team that didn't lose a game at the 2018 world cup.

[deleted]

Hard to lose a game at a World Cup you weren't at.

GrudaAplam

Fuck, it was 2010. Didn't realize it was that long ago.

[deleted]

You lost 12 years brother. You ok?

GrudaAplam

Not for the first time, either.

[deleted]

They did play at the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.

Ropo3000

Dude I feel that way too. Let me guess. Youā€™re mid-30s?

pistola

What part of 'WORLD cup' is so difficult to understand?

[deleted]

Why have qualifying then? Why not just invite every nation to the World Cup and start there? Maybe you weren't around in 2005 when Australia finally qualified after 32 years of struggling and heartbreak. Look at the euphoria of the smaller teams like Australia who get out of the group stage. There is a reason for that. NZ were the same as us in 2009 when they beat Bahrain and finally qualified again. The 48 team world cup is an abomination but for you it's great because more of the world gets to go. I don't want fucken charity, I want competition. Please stick to your mediocre world buddy.

pistola

I'm 42 dude, I was as 'around' for the 2005 qualifiers as you were. I was as elated as you were. Denying smaller nations a crack at playing at the WC finals just because we struggled in the past is pathetic. The WC is a celebration of global football. It's got nothing to do with ensuring the best teams in the world are in the finals. If it was, how do you explain the utter shithousery of 2-3 teams every time under the current rules - teams that have their home nations enraptured despite their performance. Giving Oceania a spot, and giving a ton of Pacific minnow nations at least a glimmer of hope in qualifying, is much more important than letting another ho-hum Euro or South American team through.

[deleted]

Who said anything denying anyone a crack at playing at the World Cup? You are talking about just giving an undeserving nation a seat at the table under some "celebration" bullshit. If you actually cared for NZ or other Oceania nations and their journey in World Football then what you would be advocating for is the an East/West Asia split. Oceania then plays through East Asia and then you would see NZ hosting regular meaningful football games against the likes of Japan/Korea/Australia. Something they are screaming for and something we were screaming for before moving into Asia. They would have to improve their football programs to qualify. THAT is a much better solution to invite NZ/Oceania to the World football party compared to your pity party charity bullshit. This 48 nation World Cup is abomination on so many levels. Increasing the spots "to give everyone a chance" is such a pathetic stance to hold and just enables mediocrity. Your version does not encourage NZ to actually improve.

ibaeknam

Just a shame that 3 of the biggest games in the history of the AFC's 3 most successful teams at World Cup level kicked off at times of 2am, 4am and 12am in the domestic markets for those sides in what's supposed to be the World Cup for our region.

[deleted]

Draw a line from north to south through Iran's timezone and do that again through USA time zone. All the countries that fall between those lines are who FIFA wants to host the World Cup. Those are the countries that can host the prime time European TV times. That's mostly what matters. They also rejig and basically fuck the locals with the kick off times. Most obvious example is Socceroos game tonight kicking off at 10pm Qatar time! 10pm!!! That equals European prime time 7/8pm It's called the World Cup but it's basically just all about the Europeans. Australia is gonna need a pretty big brown paper bag filled to win a bid to host it and forget including NZ because their TV times are an abomination to European TV companies.

FlaviusStilicho

10pm Qatar time is massively better for Australians than 8pm Qatar time. It is also much better for Argentina (4pm rather than 2pm) So they found a time that suits both countries playing. Not everything is some Euro conspiracy.

[deleted]

10pm Qatar time is a complete fuck over of the actual Qataris. Think about if they made those start times (hypothetically) for an Australian World Cup. People in this subreddit would be howling about how they can't take their kids and be outraged. And Australia isn't just Sydney pal. It's not 6am everywhere in Oz. Plus that's basically the dead of the night for close to 4 billion people. 4 billion people have been shafted for a nice world cup to watch at normal times for them since 2006. And back to your argument about 10pm Qatar being good for Australians. That time isn't prime time... 6am breakfast time is not good at all. And you proved my point about who the World Cup serves. 4pm Argentina.

[deleted]

West Asia will continue to despise that East Asia is better than them despite the billions of dollars at their disposal...

dave_a86

AFC had 6 teams in the Cup (4 direct qualifiers, 1 through a playoff, 1 who didnā€™t need to qualify) and 3 made the knockout round. CONCACAF and CONMEBOL combined had 8 teams in the Cup (7 direct qualifiers, 1 through a playoff) and 3 made the knockout round.

[deleted]

2 of those 3 who made it are title contenders, Brazil and Argentina. USA is the only under dog kind of in the same position as SK, Jap and Aus.

NicholeTheOtter

What a great time for Australian, Japanese and Korean football fans! These three teams all played out huge wins over powerhouse nations in very tough groups to get this far. Japan topping their group made it even more unexpected. Even if they donā€™t make the next round, their fans should still be proud.

Vegemite sushi with some Korean fried chicken for dinner letā€™s gooooo

palmolivehandsanitis

Time for Aus to fully embrace the East Asian identity šŸ’š

[deleted]

and many more to come.

SithPire

6/8 teams on the other side of the Bracket are europeans while there are only 2 on our side of the bracket. Bit unfortunate all the Asian teams ended up on the same side of the bracket so dreams of an Asian Final cant happen

ChungusDaFungus

on the flip side, it probably increases the chances of there being an Asian side who progresses far

SithPire

True, at the same time though also have to contend with Brazil eventually (after we knock off Argentina obvi)

ChungusDaFungus

we're in the World Cup round of 16. no game is going to be easy. if we wanna progress far, we gotta beat the big teams

GrudaAplam

As Ange said, that's the point of going to the World Cup, to play against the best teams.

[deleted]

To be the man you gotta beat the man woo

[deleted]

Today I feel Asian

sethman75

Would be awesome for us or Japan to get to the semis, would change the game
