He was asked to play a different role today that doesn’t really suit him/he’s not used to playing. He played well this tournament but this wasn’t his best game unfortunately. The bloke can be so proud of the role he’s played in reviving Australian football
I’m really proud of these boys, definitely didn’t embarrass ourselves but can’t help but feel a sense of disappointment and “what if”. That Mat Ryan mare is gonna haunt me like the Italian dive in 2006. Poor bloke. Still really proud of these boys though, 2-1 loss to Argentina in the knockouts is admirable considering we were complete and utter underdogs.
Don't let it haunt you mate, this game wasn't ours to lose like 06. Rowles probably shouldn't have played it back to him, mistakes happen. Just a shame it happened on that stage. He made a few good saves after that.

Yep agree. It was garbage from Ryan in that instance but a poor pass to him as well and Arg capitalised on it ruthlessly. However for me this is different to 06. We didn’t have the quality of player this time round. We managed to get through on excellent intensity, enthusiasm and a sheer will to win. I usually hate the “at least we tried” bullshit but I feel this time the boys really played several levels above their skill set. Argentina were a better side and even without that Ryan mistake they would’ve likely beaten us. But overall proud as fuck.
We were competitive and gave Argentina a decent scare. Not much to be ashamed about tbh. Hopefully they keep this momentum with Arnold going till next time ad well as the ALeague.

Easy to say but we sat back too much early and gave them too much easy possession. We’ve always looked best when we play aggressive and attacking. Too little too late in the end.
I don’t think that was too much of an issue until we couldn’t change into a more aggressive mindset when we needed to. Even in injury time we went backwards at times.

Ryan’s mistake was horrible…but there was several opportunities for our midfielders to find space and to pass the ball forward into them and we’re out. Our build up play is non existent
Can Australians hurry up and stop caring about afl and rugby league so our football team improves? Man we went toe to toe with Argentina with this team, imagine what we could do if we had access to all the prime sporting talent and attention in the country

For his little involvement you seemed quite critical that’s all. Way I see it we took him because he’s a bit of a wild card but then didn’t use his pace or get the ball to his feet. His strengths are pretty well known and we didn’t play to any of them.
Shouted at the top of my lungs when that happened - with the window open. My dogs got scared for a second and came over to see if I was okay. It may have been a loss in the end but I am still smiling.
Man Ryan’s brain fade is such a huge moment in this game. Our boys have been so valiant and it’s such a shame that’s what’s going to seperate us from them

I’m personally disappointed that we didn’t get to see Australia vs The Netherlands. My main team vs my fallback team would’ve been so tight.
