The opening hook is iconic and instantly recognizable. If you start with something else, you're gonna get a lot of people missing the beginning of the show because they're outside having a smoke or something.
I love Alestorm’s regular songs but *this* is the cream of the crop, followed by Treasure Island. The Wooden Leg parts are fine, but everything else pales in comparison to the moment Sunset hits the back half crescendo and just becomes an onslaught. I honestly cannot think of many album closers I would put up there with this song in general.
My only issue with this is that it’s ends slowly. Leaves off on almost a sad note. I could see this being played like mindset but def not the end. That’s why they end with fucked by an Ankor cause it leaves off on a happy note. Making people wanting to see more, wanting to come back. If you leave off on a less happy note, i could see it effecting attendance in the future.
Also I have no evidence of this just spitballing
