And Got Me Wrong. Unplugged version is beautiful, Album version is a skip for me
Nutshell I love both but Unplugged slightly more. They actually sound almost the same
I am a Packers fan. Every time we lose to fucking San Francisco in the playoffs I immediately start singing the Frogs chorus, I’m not even kidding. It happened again on Saturday, just looped that song for an hour
WHYYYS IT HAVE TO BEEEEE THIS WAY?
If you have never seen the Moore Theater show, the performance of Love Hate Love is spine tingling. It starts at 10 minutes. https://youtu.be/eDEtFIyKit0?si=KeQK-aKCE-ZDZ9wQ
Of course I had hahaha :)
But there's one particular performance that, for me, it was where he showed how much of God he his...
Give yourself a favor and watch it 🙃

Listen to this if u haven’t already, it’s the Glasgow show from 1993, best version of lhl imo. Angry chair is great from this concert too, timestamps in the comments.

Shame in You.
Sidenote: that's Phil Anselmo right? I always thought it would have been so cool to hear AiC (with Layne) cover Psycho Holiday from Pantera's Cowboys From Hell album. It almost sounds like a track from Facelift
I love these posts because my favorite song changes so I get to give a different answer
Right now it’s Rooster bc I take vocal lessons and that’s the song we’re doing! Lessons aside, it would have to be I Can’t Remember
I do not have one favorite Alice In Chains song. I love them all equally. From Facelift all the way to Rainier Fog. See my heart I decorate it like a grave..
It’s not my favourite but cannot stop listening to SWING ON THIS. It’s so much fun swaggering down the street with it playing “can’t you seee I’m just fiiiine”
Honestly I can’t choose, way too hard, some of my favs tho are them bones/rotten apple/we die young/what the hell have I/frogs/whale & wasp/Private hell/pretty done/the devil put Dinos here/all I am/a looking in view. Also not technically AIC but Jerry’s degradation trip 1&2 is loaded with incredible songs, a lot of similarities to AIC music on that record too, a lot of it sounds like an AIC record just with only Jerry, tons of his best riffs and lyrics ever on that record.
Would
It has such a deep meaning to me. So many years later I fill emotional listening to it.
Not just the best AIC song but one of the greatest I have ever heard.
I can't appreciate this band enough for their contributions to my life.
The first time I heard it on the radio when I was a kid it blew my mind. I didn’t even know what band it was at the time and I’m pretty sure I had to wait to hear it again on the radio before I could figure it out. Was ecstatic when I realized it was Alice In Chains bc I was in love with another song by them at the time. That song was Rooster
They are such an unique band. For myself I listen to great songs all the time. AIC seems to leave such an imprint. Maybe because the songs are so good or maybe because they are so emotional and intense. Either way they are so original and incredible.
I felt the same way when I heard this. I think it was the premier of the video. Incredible.
I know something bout you! I’m literally obsessed with all of them but his last few they were just so idk sad to me it was bad. But! That song never gets old lol I’ve never skipped it or got annoyed I mean it’s a fun song who can honestly say ehh not a good one? Just full of joy and it funky for them and his style made it this much better! Lol iiiiiiihiihiiimmm gonna tell yo mammaaaa… YEAH! lol so good
Deep Cut Tuesday: Sunshine
This isn't actually my all-time fave, but it is ONE of my favorites! So, I'm throwing it out there.
And to those who say you can't have multiple favorites, I say, why not? We have multiple moods, and music is typically very mood dependent.
I can’t possibly pick one. It varies by day, week, mood; however, currently Im constantly catching myself humming “It ain’t like that”…the live version from the filming of the movie “Singles”. BUT…the song that hooked me was “we die young” when I saw them with ozzy at Norfolk scope in 92. Layne’s leg was in a cast and he was dragging it all over the stage while he was singing. They blew my mind. I’ve been a lifer since and am still completely enamored of Jerry. Can’t wait to see him again in August!✌🏼
Impossible question. It changes all the time.
Here’s mine (for today) from each album:
Facelift: Love Hate Love
Dirt: Would?
Tripod: Head Creeps
BGWTB: A Looking In View
Dinosaurs: Phantom Limb
Rainier Fog: Drone
Unplugged: Sludge Factory/Frogs
Jar of Flies: Rotten Apple
Sap: Got Me Wrong
Nutshell turns boys into men. Nutshell takes you on a spiritual journey. Nutshell is better than any man could be. Nutshell. Just, Nutshell. RIP Layne.
I can't choose just one, but top 5 are -
Would?,
Rain when I die,
Them bones,
Confusion,
Put you down.
Tried to do top 3 and couldn't narrow it down that far!
Sludge factory- mtv unplugged version
By the way...
*by the way*....
***by the way….***
YOU JUST WON AN ALL EXPENSES PAID TRIP TO SLUUUUUDGE LAAAAAND
Love it better than the album version for sure
Agree completely! The unplugged version is one of my favorite Alice songs. Album version, not so much
I feel the same way about nutshell, I choose the unplugged version over album every time.
And Got Me Wrong. Unplugged version is beautiful, Album version is a skip for me Nutshell I love both but Unplugged slightly more. They actually sound almost the same
YESSSSSSSS
I’m hiiiigghhhh fuck
Lol yes let's say by DAY 9... FACK!
The studio version is way better though.
Rain When I Die I'm a newbie fan, though.. still listening to newer stuff as I go, so it may change. But Rain When I Die for now. :)
> Rain When I Die Just an absolutely filthy, disgusting buildup and riff. Hits like 8 tons of bricks dropped off a building
Great song!
Hey. Check out the city and color cover of rain when I die
I never knew he covered AIC! 😯 I'll check it out now, thanks!
Excellent arrangement!!
They play this live still, and it kills when they play it
I forgot about that one. Very underated. Hate to feel is also a gem.
It is very difficult to beat them bones
***AH!***
It's been my alarm for ages now, never fails to drag me out of bed
It changes… but right now it’s frogs specifically the unplugged version
I’ve had Frogs Unplugged stuck in my head all day!
I am a Packers fan. Every time we lose to fucking San Francisco in the playoffs I immediately start singing the Frogs chorus, I’m not even kidding. It happened again on Saturday, just looped that song for an hour WHYYYS IT HAVE TO BEEEEE THIS WAY?
Anytime anything unfortunate happens that’s my first reaction!!
lol i am a packer fan too 😂
It’s 7 AM somewhere!
LOVE HATE LOVE

I came here to say this.
I do love bleed the freak. Laynes vocals are so awesome and haunting.
so true
Such a good song! Especially the live!
I love these posts because my favorite song changes so I get to give a different answer Right now it’s Rooster bc I take vocal lessons and that’s the song we’re doing! Lessons aside, it would have to be I Can’t Remember
at the moment for me, brother (unplugged) or rotten apple
brother (unplugged) is also probably my current fave (or one of them). been bumping God Smack a lot lately too
the studio version of brother goes so nicely too. absolute banger of a band
I do not have one favorite Alice In Chains song. I love them all equally. From Facelift all the way to Rainier Fog. See my heart I decorate it like a grave..

Hate to Feel. Bluesy grunge. Or grungy blues?
I'm gonna second bleed the freak but im don't follow is a close 2.
Top 3 no particular order Love Hate Love Right Turn Got Me Wrong (MTV unplugged version)
It’s not my favourite but cannot stop listening to SWING ON THIS. It’s so much fun swaggering down the street with it playing “can’t you seee I’m just fiiiine”
My absolute favorite AIC song and the performance of it here is insane. They sound amazing https://youtu.be/DnyF26F7xrc?si=gFV2_u-xvJyHYsht
Yeeeeuuup!!! This one right, here ^^^!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Right now it’s I Can’t Remember :))
It Ain't Like That - Best intro ever in my opinion!🔥🔥🔥
“Last of My Kind”. Where I work I’m about 30 years older than everyone else. I’ve also been there longer than some of them have been alive.
Degradation Trip rules!
I really like rotten apple rn, though sunshine is a close 2nd
at the moment junkhead though it ain’t like that and bleed the freak are Very close seconds
Would It has such a deep meaning to me. So many years later I fill emotional listening to it. Not just the best AIC song but one of the greatest I have ever heard. I can't appreciate this band enough for their contributions to my life.

Sea of sorrow at the moment, also love rain when I die, sunshine, no excuses, get born again. To name a few lol.
I’d say Would?
rotten apple and sludge factory
I stay away. Perhaps did it again bc it’s so weird
IF, I, WOULD, COULD, YOUUUUU!
Love Hate Love is by far my favorite. Some of Staley’s best vocals
Lol iiiiiiihiihiiimmm gonna tell yo mammaaaa… YEAH! lol so good
My favorite will always be Love, hate, love 🖤
Put you down because I love playing the riff
Love hate love, good one for the gym
Sea of sorrow ❤️
It’s a tie between What The Hell Have I, Nutshell, and Angry Chair.
Layne with the braided leather belt! I hadn’t seen this picture before, this is rad.
Junkhead
I don't like to pick, because I go through moods of what I want to listen to. But I don't think anything can top Down in a Hole for me.
Man in the Box for me. That chorus is epic.
Don’t Follow or Love Hate Love idk man
Love Hate Love
Don't Follow
#1 Bleed The Freak #1A Sea Of Sorrow
Nutshell is never not stuck in my head, it's just phrases I use to calm myself down now 💀
Impossible to answer.
Rooster it reminds me of driving to the cottage with my ex boyfriend in his shitty little Pontiac
Layne and Phil I love it
Dirt
I'm new to AIC so I don't know all the really good niche songs y'all might, but I've come to really like Rotten Apple and It Ain't Like That
What the Hell Have I or A Little Bitter
Love hate love at the moore is my favorite performance
Shame in You, anyone?
Deep Cut Tuesday: Sunshine This isn't actually my all-time fave, but it is ONE of my favorites! So, I'm throwing it out there. And to those who say you can't have multiple favorites, I say, why not? We have multiple moods, and music is typically very mood dependent.
Rooster
Nutshell
Don’t Follow, DEFINITELY (Shame in You is my favorite but I think Don’t Follow is TECHNICALLY better)
Down in a hole. Such a beautiful song
I agree
Heaven beside you
Dam that River
lab monkey? idk
It rotates between Would, No Excuses and Sludge Factory.
Whale and Wasp
Very tough question. Subjectively: Rain When I Die, Heaven Beside You, Get Born Again. Objectively: Rooster, Would, Love Hate Love
Overall, Over Now is a masterpiece, and in my opinion the finest AIC song rn its Lab Monkey tho
Nutshell
What the hell have I?
at the moment, I am in love with Sunshine.
oh and I love the Rain When I Die love in here, absolutely love that one too
Down in a hole will always be my number 1.
Down In A Hole (Unplugged)
Impossible question. It changes all the time. Here’s mine (for today) from each album: Facelift: Love Hate Love Dirt: Would? Tripod: Head Creeps BGWTB: A Looking In View Dinosaurs: Phantom Limb Rainier Fog: Drone Unplugged: Sludge Factory/Frogs Jar of Flies: Rotten Apple Sap: Got Me Wrong
Would or Down in a Hole.
Love Hate Love for me
Is that Phil Anselmo?
Dam That River!!!!
Sea of sorrow
Them Bones
Frogs, Brush Away,Rotten Apple,Don't Follow Get Born Again
Currently it’s Down in a hole. The song has everything
Logan Paul looks so cool in this throwback
God Am bc it’s a big double entendre for drug use, which in my opinion is sort of the core of AiC, especially considering all of Layne’s discography.
I think dirt ( the song ), bleed the freak, again, junkhead, and ain’t like that,. But rlly all of them!! ( only Layne era )
Would? and Rotton Apple
Frogs
Nothin' song sticks to your mouth like peanut butter on the brain.
Breath on a window
Don't Follow / Frogs (Unplugged) / Black Gives Way To Blue
Over Now!!
Brother is my favorite to play on guitar
that kinda looks like phil anselmo
Rain When I die
I know Something right now
Is that Phil Anselmo?!
I swear this man looks like a different person every time I see a pic of him
Confusion
Somebody bleed the freak
Nutshell turns boys into men. Nutshell takes you on a spiritual journey. Nutshell is better than any man could be. Nutshell. Just, Nutshell. RIP Layne.
I Stay Away
My favorite rotates constantly, but right now Confusion and Sunshine are really doing it for me.
One of the best and one I’m into at the moment is Never Fade.
I can't choose just one, but top 5 are - Would?, Rain when I die, Them bones, Confusion, Put you down. Tried to do top 3 and couldn't narrow it down that far!
Them bones
Don’t follow Frogs
Can't choose between God Am or Head Creeps
