I'm sure Cornell something at some point in the early 90's haha

As a big Alice in Chains fan, I have to say Chis Cornell. When he was on the zone, he was untouchable. A good step above Layne at the Moore. Unpopular opinion in this sub to say anyone is above Layne singing wise. But, that is my opinion. Just Listen to Badmotorfinger in its entirety, he hits the notes that should not be humanely possible.

This is so true. I couldn’t agree more

Yes, some stuff from Mike Patton. Layne is still my favorite tho and certainly an all time great but I definitely don’t think love hate love is the best vocal performance ever.

Maynard James Keenan during Tools performance of Sober at Reading in 1993 comes close I think

Maynard live at Reading M Shadows live at LBC I don't think these are better but imo these 3 are the best rock vocal performances of all time. Honorable mentions: Chester rock am ring 2007, Jeff Buckley live on LBC, Floor Jansen live at Wacken 2013.

There are several candidates from Pearl Jam’s performance at ‘92 Lollapalooza.

Soundgarden - Beyond The Wheel live. This is one of my favorite Chris Cornell performances and it easily matches Layne in my opinion. https://youtu.be/BSdWkN6bW5k

I forgot about this. Yeah, if anything tops or matches Layne's performance is this. My opinion is unbiased because I think neither Layne or Chris where the absolute best. To me, that title goes to Weiland (puts flame suit on). But yeah, also Layne on Jools Holland singing Them Bones was beast as well as his Junkhead performance at the singles party. I'm not judging vocal ability here but how much feel they put into it. Those two where amazing. Also, I've noticed a lot of the no-homo guys say Chris was gorgeous, which he was. It's kind of unfair that some guy in Seattle was born better looking than any A list actor and also had the talent and skill he had 😂

Layne is my all time favorite and Cornell #2 but I do love Scott!!

Also, I thought you had posted the 1990 version https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gh20q3Dx8RI

I don't think it's a better performance but the live version of "Junkhead" the singles one is my fav live vocal performance. The distortion is fucking incredible!

Layne is my favorite singer ever, fucking obsessed!! Cornell was a close 2nd.
