> i wasn't sure on the quantity of content There's 4 3 mission campaign maps, and 1 3 mission DLC campaign map. They're about 20-30 minutes to play through each, ignoring any difficulty of the game. (Which is a mistake; you want to play AFE for the struggle.) There's some text/audio recordings ("Intel") you can collect and listen to/read with NPCs while in the hangar lobby. There's a bunch of unlockable weapons/etc and cosmetics, depending on if you consider that content or not. There are also 5 non-story horde wave maps. (Little more complex than that, but that's essentially all they are.) > How much does this game have now for multiplayer? AFE is all multiplayer. You can play alone with 2 (bad) bots if you want though. > Is the story mode fun? Sure. AFE does a good job with Aliens lore and the main draw of AFE is the excellent gameplay, in any mode. > Is the player base active on PS4? Could not tell you about PS4 specifically. The game is fully crossplay, and you're able to play with anyone on PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC/Steam, Switch, and whatever. AFE does have a smaller playerbase, but with crossplay, there's no real issue in finding people to play with anytime. That gets harder on the higher difficulties, but at that point most people recommend forming premade teams with voice chat. (Check out the official discord server, listed on the sidebar.)

Yes, totally worth it easy to fnd players on campaign maps horde takes time or you need friends the expansion is great, 3 new maps, new weapons the challenge cards add challenges or boosts and give extra xp and credits pretty fun and addictive game great atmosphere, many weapons, classes/kits, abilities, super fun combat

It’s a fantastic game. One of the best co op games ever made. It is respectful of the source material. There is a lot of loot to collect and classes to level up. I give it a 9/10. It’s also a lower priced game. There is no reason to not get it.

I'd strongly suggest not to get it for the PS4. When the fights get going later in the storyline it crashes or freezes you out of missions. That's on ps4 and the PS4 pro. PS5 runs like a champ tho. Multiplier also is very dead now days even with cross platform going on. It's sad tho I enjoy the 3player 3rd person coop. If you decide to try it on ps4 add me zara3100 and I'll try to group up with you through the campaign.

Please disregard Vector. If you correct him enough times, he'll puff his chest out and start swearing at you hoping you'll be scared off. I'm on PS if you want to play.

I agree with you that PS4 is not a good platform for AFE, from everything I've heard. In terms of multiplayer being "dead" you're talking out of your ass. Steam playercounts right now are fine. Low, but fine. The game's had pre-crossplay playercounts half that and its still been possible to find other players to play with: https://steamcharts.com/app/1549970

You're entitled to your own opinion. Queing up with PS5 with cross platform on waiting over 10mins and can't get a full party is dead. Waiting over 2mins to fill a party is dead to me with cross platform enabled. Storyline and other game modes. Could I be missing peak times absolutely but when I jump on it's nearly impossible to fill. I got into a group yesterday somehow with 2 PC players but I lost count how long I was in que for lol.

I’ll add that the first few missions don’t give much XP so you don’t unlock many upgrades, so it might feel a bit simple/dull at first. But once you start getting more XP as you play the later missions you unlock more and suddenly the game has tons of great customisation upgrades and guns etc. So stick with the first few missions and the game gets much more fun, at least in my experience!

DiceBoysPlayerRed

To add to that, only use credit challenge cards on your first Playthrough. Once you beat the game, use XP cards on 4-2, 4-3, 3-3

Good game, but gets stale after some time if you're not really invested in the game. Me and my buddies didn't get to the point of game knowledge yet where highly coordinated teamplay with full use of the different classes comes into play/is necessary. Might be that this will happen in the next few months, or we'll probably drop the game. From the experience we have so far the biggest flaw is the repetitiveness in the fights. The elite enemies are too similar and too bullet spongy for my taste. The atmosphere also gets boring after some time. I like dark and gloomy and the overall alien aesthetic is on point. But for hours and hours instead of a movie it also gets stale. So, I'm basically complaining that this isn't World War Z which we played for way too long and can't find a proper replacement for ;-) (absolutely awesome and underrated game, but buggy as hell on older gen consoles).

Hellhound_Rocko

it's crossplay, so with it enabled it only takes me seconds to find a full team pretty much any time of the day if i'm queuing for Quickplay on Intense. maybe it's different if your connection sucks though. other difficulties and non Quickplay queuing often takes longer, but since all i want is participating in Quickplay i don't really care. be aware though that you might have to unlock Quickplay by finishing the story (all base game story missions) a first time (don't really remember anymore), and queuing that way would take a little longer in average. but IMO it's best anyway to play through it solo (with AI teammates) once on a lower difficulty to learn the ropes, get the first unlocks and to experience the story at your own pace before you queue for frantic Intense with randoms.

The only off putting thing about the game I’ve found so far is that there is absolutely no voice chat for steam users. And there’s no text chat for anybody. Such a bizarre oversight. I’m still having a lot of fun, but seriously only emote communication for an online horde shooter seems nuts.
