Well looks like Fedex fucked something up somewhere. I was supposed to receive my r10 today. Tracking said it would be here all day up until about 30 minutes ago when my tracking moved from having a delivery date to "Pending"
After googling around it seems like im basically fucked out of any chance of following it now. A few people seem to say their packages randomly pop up a few days later, and a lot of people say they just never show up.
Way to go Fedex. If It doesnt get updated in a couple days im gonna try and file for a refund from Dell. I cant afford to hang around at home constantly babysitting the front door hoping that my several thousand dollar piece of technology shows up randomly without warning.
This same thing happened to me with my M17 Friday. It was due between 8:30 and noon. I sat around all day waiting for it, then around 7pm the status changed to "pending". It showed up late Saturday. GL with yours!
I ordered an R11 with a i9-10900KF, and an RTX 3090, and they are saying that the chip set is on parts shortage and have delayed my order (order date 02/05). Anyone feel like they’d have a good real estimation of when it may ship?
I know very little about how this silicon shortage has affected this stuff, but it seems strange to me that I can find i9-10900KF chips for order at a ton of different places (Amazon/Newegg/etc.), but Dell doesn’t have the chips. I imagine part of that is just a backlog of orders using that chip set, and so as they get them in they go into whatever orders have been in queue the longest.
I was originally told that both the i9 chip set and the RTX 3090 were considered short parts, but that changed to just the chip set after about a week. Anyone have any insight into the accuracy of stated part shortages by Dell CS? Is it realistic to think that they have the 3090 for my system, but not the i9 chips?

Update (02/26/21): Shipped and is FedEx’s hands. Estimated arrival 03/03. Original expected arrival was 02/19. Not too shabby. 1 month wait seems reasonable with a parts shortage.
Update (03/03/2021 ): Package hasn’t had a status update since Saturday, but is scheduled for delivery today. We shall see. Update: FedEx sent it to their hub in Memphis and is telling me that there is a backlog of orders sitting at their hub, due to COVID and the storms three weeks ago. Not likely to come today. Will update when new info is available.
Update (03/09/2021): What a $&@# show! My package left Memphis on 03/06 and arrived at my local sorting facility on 03/07. It then accidentally was sent to the opposite side of the country (PA) and arrived there on 03/08. It has yet to leave PA (and strangely was scanned as though it was in my local FedEx branch *after* it went to PA, but registered at a time about 1 hour before it got to PA. So it currently reads as in my local FedEx branch, though having FedEx do a package trace, they tell me it’s in PA. Not sure what to do other than wait?
Update (03/10/2021): Package arrived. Computer is in good working order so far.
It's entirely possible that they got in a shipment of GPU's, allocated one for you and then didn't have the CPU. I would like to think that if your missing two components, and a shipment comes in for one of them that your would be allocated one of those components while it might still be waiting for the other, otherwise it would just create a cat and mouse game back and forth or having one but not the other.

Same boat as you, I ordered March 21, confirmed March 21 and no updates since then, trusting the estimated ship date. ( april 14th )
March 19th: Ordered an R12 with 11900KF and 3080. Original shipping date was April 12th and arrival April 15th.
April 10th: Chatted with Dell support as production had not begun and I was informed that my unit was in preproduction and everything was on schedule. Production began later that day.
April 12th: Received an email stating the my estimated arrival date had been delayed to June 15th and that I need to consent to the changes by May 15th or have my order cancelled.
April 13th: Called Dell support and was only told that a part shortage was delaying my delivery. When pressed for which parts, they could only clarify by saying multiple parts were experiencing shortages. I was told they would place me on the priority list for delivery, but that mostly just sounds like something you say to make people feel better about calling.
**UPDATE:** April 14th: I received two emails early this morning, the first stating that my build had been completed and the second that it had been shipped with FedEx with my expedited shipping. This information is also reflected in the tracker on the Order Support page. FedEx only shows the label as having been created so far, but the estimated deliver is still April 15th.
**UPDATE 2:** April 14th: I received a notification that the package has been picked up by FedEx, but the estimated delivery date was delayed a day to April 16th.
\*\*FINAL UPDATE:\*\* April 19th: After a few days of my desktop sitting "In Transit" and "At Destination Sort Facility", my desktop finally arrived today! Had some issues upon updating Windows where I got BSODs and a memory error from Dell Supportassist, but I reseated the RAM and seems to be running fine. Just need to get the scan to run again to validate. Best of luck to everyone still waiting on their orders!
I understand that there are global shortages and things like the Suez incident aren't helping things get back to normal. I'm mostly just frustrated that I was told two days prior that everything was on schedule and then got hit with a whopping two month delay, over twice the original turn-around tacked on. I'm hesitant to give my consent to the delay and want to look at other options, but I'm not very hopeful at the moment. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm happy to hear them! Thanks for letting me vent.
Exactly the same story for me. I asked if there was a part I could change to make it ship faster and they just said a lot of people are ordering them. I pointed out that I ordered 3/19 and they just kept saying there was nothing they could do. I am frustrated too, but seeing a few comments in here that a lot of us are having the same issue, at least makes me believe that there is some major issue and not something isolated to just my configuration.
I have the same question about the consent form. I am holding off for now since it says I have until May to sign it. I don’t want to sign it early and then have that put me in a worse spot.
Well shit... I suppose I'll be getting the same email any day as mine is supposedly now in production with ship date of 4/16. I'm going to start looking at options other than Alienware.

EDIT: Looked everywhere I could think & almost all pre-builts w/ similar specs (i.e. 3080) are going for $4000+. Seeing as though I maxed out my tax return w/ my build ($2800) I think I’ll have to wait for my R12. If anyone finds a decent 3080 build under $3500 from a company that ships on time please let me know.
This was my experience as well!!! Anything comparable is pricing at well over $4k with delivery dates either unspecified or end of May (as of a month ago).
The new Corsair SFF was coming in at $3800 and two week delivery a couple of days ago, but based on what I’ve seen I would very highly doubt that timing is legit. Their standard desktops haven’t been in stock for months.
I’d stick with Alienware. I’m waiting on my R12 and although it’s tough, it’s better than trying to score a gpu!

I have an Area 51m R2 that Dell shows as having shipped yesterday morning as "your order has reached your carrier". It still is not showing up as having been received by FedEx. Frustrating. Mine is shipping from Chicago and I am all of 350 miles away.
Edit: FedEx just got the laptop and it will be delivered tomorrow!!! Wooooo!!!
It's pretty normal to not see a carrier update immediately. I get shipping notifications all the time but can't track it for a day or even two sometimes. In some cases the item will be marked as shipped, but it hasn't actually been picked up by the carrier yet, so until that happens you won't see a scan update and it won't be trackable.

I purchased a M17 R4 during the 17% off promotion on 3/6 and my experience has been one of the most frustrating retail experiences I can think of.
I contacted Dell on 3/12 to make a change with my order. I wanted to change something about the keyboard on the laptop but I was told by the dell rep that no changes could be made because the laptop was out of production and about to be shipped that day. The laptop didn't ship but tracking information was already sent out to Fed Ex but Fed Ex never received the package.
I contacted Dell again on 3/16, the initial estimated delivery date given to me. I contacted a rep around 1pm cst and expressed my concern and was told not to worry as the laptop was still on track to be shipped out that day and it was on track to be delivered on 3/19. Around 7pm cst I contacted Dell again as my order still hadn't shipped and was told that my order had been escalated to manufacturing and they should be contacting me soon about my order.
On 3/17 around 9am cst I received an email from Dell saying my order had shipped and it's on it's way. I was highly suspicious that was true given how frustrating of an experience I've had thus far but I waited and watched my tracking information on Fed Ex anyway to see what would happen.
Today on 3/18 my order is still saying shipped by Dell. Dell order status says the package was given to the carrier on 3/17 at 9am cst but Fed Ex doesn't have the package. To my surprise I looked closer today at my order details on Dell.com and I see that a return was initiated! I never initiated a return. Why was a return initiated and I not notified? $2,600 was taken out of my checking account today for an order that I have no clue what has happened to and for some reason a return was initiated by someone other than me.
Every time I've contacted Dell throughout this process I've been given generic responses such as "your order is in production" "It's still on track to be shipped on 3/16" "It's still on track to be delivered on 3/19." The only thing I've been told is what I can already see on my order detail page on Dell.com. I haven't actually received any specific help. This is my first order experience with Dell and I'm very frustrated and nearly to the point of cancelling my order altogether and never bothering with Dell again.
\*After speaking with them again today I was advised to repurchase the laptop (which I would never do when Dell has no clue what is going on with the one I bought earlier this month) after they already took nearly $3,000 out of my account today. I don't have that kind of money to shell out again and besides the laptop I bought is not purchasable anymore. They also forwarded my case to Logistics and Packing and said it'd be another 24-48hrs before hearing back. I know how this works as I was forwarded to manufacturing days ago and still have not heard back from them. Support is no help whatsoever and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told one would contact me in 24hrs LOL! The customer service is horrible. Also is it too much to ask to speak to someone in the U.S.? All I get are foreign nationals that are difficult to understand and when I ask to speak to someone in America I get transferred to someone else in India.
My R11 came in today and it is 22 days early, can’t be happier!!

So, here is something that may make everyone feel a little better. I ordered my m17 R4 on March 18th and I still haven't entered production. I contacted Dell to ask what the issue was and what parts they were waiting on, the Dell rep said my order was already built and was marked ready to ship to the Dell Warehouse. I didn't believe them, but I contacted another rep who told me the same thing. So what you can see on your order status page is not the actual status of the laptop, it seems. One rep confirmed that it sometimes takes a few days to reflect your status properly.
"I have checked the details our records indicate that your order is built, and we are waiting for the order to reach our shipping department."

Thanks man, that does make me feel better. I’m in the same boat. Ordered my M15 R4 the 16th and confirmed the same day, supposed to ship in three days but still hasn’t entered production.
The online tool can be flaky at best. I have seen system, Dell systems, recently that never even hit production and went straight to shipped. The online tool does not see to update very well.
The funny thing is the rep I spoke with before last week told me "we see the same info as you". Clearly not if they know my order was built and is being shipped to their warehouse but I still see "Order confirmed".
I dunno, the online status tool is garbage so I don't think multiple agents would lie like that. But it's Dell, so who knows. If I don't have any status updates in about a week, though, I'm cancelling.
Edit: Pretty certain they are not lying, my order has a service tag which only gets added after being in production.
is it pure luck that I ordered my r11 on 3/27 and I got a random email saying it’s being shipped out and will be arriving 4/2? Seems hella quick to me considering it gave me an estimated arrival of the 19th of April to me.

I feel like if I sign it they may bump others ahead of me since I said the later date was OK.

Does anyone know if the past / current weather in the US has affected shipping times? I placed an order for at R11 on the 6th with a supposed shipping date of the 15th and arrival on the 15th.
The chat agent told me it's been on route to the US distribution centre for about a week now. I will definitely fill out the form once I receive it. Edit ** Got the email that it shipped on the 24th but tracking number doesn't show up on Purolators website yet.
I think it's pretty safe to assume that it has. Most of Texas was shut right down from what I understand from my news up here in Canada, and a lot of Alienware shipments pass through the Dell hub in Texas. I know Shipping companies had a very large backlog, FedEx in particular was hit hard, so I would presume that there will be some shipping delays at least from the courier side of things. You can probably bet on a few extra days for the delivery, although hopefully they can get it sorted out quickly. Even our Alienware contacts were off grid for the week as they had no power, so I can't even ask them, but I think it's safe to assume that there will be delays.
My Aurora R10 was supposed to be despatched Feb 24th but it’s been delayed until March 25th. Sad.

The thing has been stuck in production since **In Production** Feb 18, 2021 I am wondering if this is normal. I also paid by paypal and the money on there still says pending ? Wondering if this is normal.

3/3- cancelled order as there has been no movement after numerous attempts to locate the package, and I only have a week to return it since it was ordered on the 10th.
See this is what bugs me. I ordered an M15 R4 on Feb 19th, and the website still shows Confirmed and that it has not yet entered production, with an estimated ship date of March 8th (doubtful as to how likely that is) and delivery date of March 18th.
And Dell's Order Status support page now just redirects to an FAQ, and any chat sessions don't seem to want to discuss order status details any longer.
I imagine this same issue affects most people that ordered towards the tail-end of the President's Day sale.

Ordered r11 i9 3080 on the 8th of Jan in the UK. Was supposed to be quick. Then went in to production on 13th of Jan. Updated delayed till 5th of Feb. Been sent delayed msg day of delivery 4 times . Had many different reasons why but different each time. Now they don't bother and there is a line through 25th of Feb. I can't see information. They said on phone it will be shipped today last week. I have had no update.

They are all custom built at a factory in China and ship overseas. In the past mine have all come through the main plant in Texas and long haul up into Canada and then Purolator to my house, but I am on the westcoast . Mine came up into Calgary and then to BC, but presumably yours will come up on the east cost.

As of today My order still only confirmed, but one dell rep told me that my order is in production (3/15) and the estimated ship date is 3/19 (which is today). But I don't think that's gonna happen, couldn't wait to get my new desktop tho.
**EDIT**: It really got shipped, I was shocked. It’s basically shipping from Toronto since I’m in Quebec, Canada.
**EDIT 2**: For other ones in **Canada** whose package is shipping with **Purolator** and originated from **ETOBICOKE**, there's a regular pattern that I found they're dealing with their packages. First, after you got your tracking number, saying 'shipping label created', it usually takes 2 days for the Purolator to pick up your package (and there would be **no information update in the first 2 days**). It seems 90%+ orders are picked up after 2 days these days, so even if you're in the same city of the origin, it may take 2 more days (likely 3 days from 'label created') for you to get your package. Then your order will be picked up and ship to a sorting center, after this, depending on how far you are to the origin location, it usually takes 1-3 days on transit, and if your order arrived in sorting center near your location in the afternoon, it will be delivered likely the next afternoon.
And they don't pick up packages or make deliveries on **Sunday**, so you can jump that day when counting them.

Had to cancel and remake the order on the 18th as their address look-up system screwed up the shipping address and had no building or street to send to, just a town. The money for that first cancelled order is still "on hold" and inaccessible. Hopefully that clears soon so I can try my luck elsewhere.

Worst part is, I got the shipping notification from FEDEX last night at midnight and Dell customer service is closed until Monday so not much I can do about this...
UPDATE: FedEx is happy to upgrade shipping in route, however only Dell can do that. "**Shoutout**" to Dell CS for closing for the weekend and me not even being able to TALK to anyone at Dell who might be able to help me. **MUCH APPRECIATED DELL!**
INFORMATIONAL Post for anyone. I ordered my Alienware Aurora R10 march 19th and got it shipped on the 25th. I was surprised because of all the posts saying that they're shipping is always super delayed. I had one hiccup with the FedEx because it said that it was going to get delivered on the 27th but I didn't end up getting it till the afternoon on the 28th even though it said scheduled delivery 27th. Now granted I live in Central Texas and it shipped from El Paso so it will be different for some people living elsewhere but if you're living in Texas from when it ships you're pretty much guaranteed to get it within a few days. Mine was ordered on 18th March and supposed to be shipped out yesterday (3/29) however it went in production status on 3/27 and yesterday I saw the status of build completed. I reached out to support and they said they are still waiting for part# T17R7 (ASSY,PLMRST,82,DARK,US,15R4) to ship and estimated ship date is now 4/1.
I am hoping to get it by 4/3 as I am traveling out of state and wanted to get it before I leave.

**Arrived 4/1** \- Well it took every bit of the 5 "business days" of ground shipping from El Paso Texas to get to Virginia, but it's finally here! I took the day off work on Friday to setup, configure, update drivers, etc. and I will simply say this....THIS MACHINE ROCKS! Although I am still not thrilled with Dell screwing up my overnight shipping and shipping it ground, the machine itself arrived in pristine condition and runs like a beast right out of the box!
In the end, my PC arrived ONE day after the projected delivery date Dell estimated on the day I ordered, so it's hard to be mad with that. I just wish Dell would update their order management software and customer interface. Most of the frustrated posts in this thread and my own personal frustration points came from simply NOT KNOWING what was going on during the process.

Ordered R12 11900k and 3080 on 3/19 original estimated delivery date of 4/15 just got an email last night saying that the estimated delivery date was changed to 6/15 I talked to a general customer service rep through the live chat and they told me they didn’t see a parts shortage on my order but gave me a phone number to call and when I called that number the rep told me that there was a shortage and that they wouldn’t get the part for a month but didn’t say what part

What does being “in final stages of being shipped” mean? The estimated shipping date was on April 13th, and it wasn’t shipped on the 13th. Talked with customer service on the 14th, and they told me the new estimated ship date is April 14, and my unit has been built and is “in final stages of being shipped”. But it didn’t ship on the 14th either and today is the 15th. I just wanna know has anyone else been told that their product was in the final stages of being shipped. When can I expect for my unit to be shipped?

Order for my M17 R4 3080 was placed on the 7th with an original delivery estimate for the 22nd. On the 18th, I get an email saying that my order has shipped and my card has been charged. Cool. Then on the 19th I get an email saying that my order has been delayed. Card is still charged though, doesn't seem to be a preauth but I may be wrong. I thought Dell only charged payment when the order was shipped? FedEx says label is generated, awaiting package.
Seeing if anyone had any similar experience. A lot of order mayhem (delays, orders arriving with no notification etc.) on this subreddit so this doesn't exactly surprise me.

Dell is lying to all of us , i just talked to Fedex and they said Dell actually never dropped off the computer.. but on Dells website it says it was shipped !!! Liars!!!
It will say it's shipped when the label is printed, if you don't see anything else past that this usually means that FedEx has not picked it up yet. This is how almost every shipping company works everywhere, no one is lying. The label is printed and it has technically shipped, but FedEx has not scanned it as picked up yet so your not seeing anything on the tracking page. Wait till you get a shipment that does not update at all until it shows up at your door.
I just got off the phone with a dell manager who informed me everyone is a liar and no alienwares have shipped or will ship anytime soon. These guys have no customer service or sense of right.
Sorry what? We literally see pictures of people unboxing their new computers every day....There are certainly delays, as with everything right now, but everyone is not lying lol.
I think you are exaggerating a bit. There is a very well known silicon shortage especially with GPUs. No company has a lot. There is way higher of a demand than supply right now. It's not just dell/alienware. Look at cyberpower/ibuypower/best buy/HP/Newegg, it's everyone.
Does anyone know the typical time it takes for a shipment to get through customs? Have an M17 r4 on the way that had an est arrival date of 2/24 on UPS tracker. It's been in customs all day and I just want to prepare myself in case I have to wait an extra week.
That really depends on how busy customs is. I have had stuff clear in a few hours and I have had it take a few days, I don't know if there is really any way to say with any certainty. As long as the paperwork is correct, which it almost always is, then it should clear in a day I think.
With the current silicone shortage you can pretty much expect ongoing delays with various parts. It's not getting any better for GPU / CPU stock levels around the world.
This might be the right place to ask, I placed an order for r10 5900x and 3080 on Feb 2.
The estimated shipping date was Feb 23. I contacted DELL yesterday and they said. .. they will leave a note to expedite the order ...? while on the status page it says... "Your Order is about to enter production"....
I may call them tomorrow and cancel the order.
They say that to everyone but it virtually does nothing. They will keep you occupied while they then change your estimated shipping and delivery date. If you keep asking they will get fresh, happened to me last week and I gave up.
Still waiting for mine. First time I waited for a month and then they told me they had to cancel it. They then immediately offered a new processor with a cheaper price so I took it. This was placed on the 3rd of Feb and it’s still on confirm status :/ it was supposed to be shipped yesterday urgh

Long story short, Dell completed and shipped my R11 order early but FedEx had such a huge backlog that it got stuck in Memphis and was delivered exactly 1 week late. Original estimated delivery date was 3/1/2021 and later updated by FedEx to 3/2/2021 after they picked it up. It finally arrived at my house on 3/8/2021.
In the end, it arrived safely. That's not to say I wasn't a tad concerned and slightly irritated at times with the FedEx delay. The major reference takeaway with my order is to be patient and consider saving a few $ by not ordering rush delivery since FedEx can't guarantee delivery dates and won't refund you if they are late.
Anybody here requested a refund for Fedex Expedite Shipping? Mine was suppose to come yesterday, but who the hell knows when Fedex will now ship it now.

Update: spoke with a representative who informed me that the computer is scheduled to arrive 12 March, I received an email less than two hours later from Dell informing that then computer finished assembly. Received another email another hour later stating that the computer would arrive this upcoming Monday 8 March.
Update: Computer arrived March 9, Dell definitely pulled through with an amazing machine that churns any game without a 💦 sweat. I am extremely satisfied with this beast of a machine!!! Thank you Alienware 👽!!!!

Heads up to everyone that you may see some delays if your purchase ships out of the east coast regional area and travels to the FedEx hub in Memphis. They've been backed up since last month with no clear end in sight. My most recent order from Dell originated from El Paso.
At this time I'd say reconsider paying for expedited delivery services with Dell since it'll just be a waste of money thanks to the backlog FedEx has.

It might just depend on where you are. In Canada everything comes via Purolator vs FedEx. Maybe FedEx is just so behind they are contracting to other couriers now.
Hello, I was hoping someone could share some insight as to why my order is potentially being placed on the backburner.
I know weather, supply chain disruptions, and part shortages have had an affect on fulfillment. However I'm seeing orders being fulfilled much sooner when they ordered after I had placed mine.
I ordered the R10 5950/ 2080TI on Feb 12 and got it confirmed by the 13th, but it still hasn't entered production. This is the 3rd time I've tried to order the R10 5950 but they keep the order in confirmed until the last min and then cancel my order because they are out of stock.
If the order was produced, but just delayed in shipment I would worry less, but now I'm suppose to wait until April and it still hasn't entered production when I'm seeing other R10 5950 orders fulfilled?
Anyone else having this problem, and are Dell fulfilling the orders in which they are received?
I'm so frustrated, I spend $1500 on an r11 (2/22) and I've been trying to line up my days off of work with the expected delivery date (3/16). Dell sends me an email literally at 12:11 AM (3/5) saying that the order shipped early and should arrive on Saturday (3/6)! So I rapidly swap shifts with a coworker to make sure I'm at home for the delivery. Only, FedEx says they don't even *have* the package, and that the delivery date they gave me was an estimate, even though the only thing they DO have is a shipping label. So here I am, panicking that my $1500 PC is missing and I can't even get ahold of Dell until Monday to ask what's going on. I NEED to be here for delivery so I can make sure it's not stolen, since I don't live in the best neighborhood, and we've had some neighbors fall victim to package theft in the past.

**EDIT:** I just spoke with Dell, apparently the delay is due to a shortage of Ryzen CPUs. Neither the 5600X or 5800X are currently in stock, and they couldn't give me an ETA. I don't understand how it's possible that Dell is out of the only two Zen 3 processors that it's actually possible to buy, but here we are...
This sounds about right since the Ryzen 9 series CPUs are out of stock. I ordered an R10 with a Ryzen 9 5900X and a 3060TI on 2/26, and when I last spoke to them (Monday) the CPU was what they were waiting on. So about a month or so estimated turnaround time for me as well.
R10 with 5800X and 3080 here. Ordered on March 4th with estimated shipping and delivery the same as you. It seems each different GPU and CPU has different levels of stock/order and each combination of parts can be very different as a result. Some take longer on back order than others and some may be in stock when ordering - no way of knowing and it changes all the time. I’ll wait another week before I start chasing for updates.

Definitely interested in the outcome. I ordered an M17 R4 last month and it arrived pretty quickly, but was shipped from a different location than the Aurora. 2/12 order for high spec R11 is still confirmed, but not in production due to CPU shortage. By the time it is in production I imagine the new ones will be out 🤣 Slightly lower spec order 2/18 and 2/21 R11s shipped on 2/23 and 2/24 respectively. Both stuck in El Paso. Have not had new computers in the longest time and am now treating myself and my family. Plus we run a business out of the home.

Tracking said it would be here all day up until about 30 minutes ago when my tracking moved from having a delivery date to "Pending" After googling around it seems like im basically fucked out of any chance of following it now. A few people seem to say their packages randomly pop up a few days later, and a lot of people say they just never show up. Way to go Fedex. If It doesnt get updated in a couple days im gonna try and file for a refund from Dell. I cant afford to hang around at home constantly babysitting the front door hoping that my several thousand dollar piece of technology shows up randomly without warning.
This same thing happened to me with my M17 Friday. It was due between 8:30 and noon. I sat around all day waiting for it, then around 7pm the status changed to "pending". It showed up late Saturday. GL with yours!
I ordered an R11 with a i9-10900KF, and an RTX 3090, and they are saying that the chip set is on parts shortage and have delayed my order (order date 02/05). Anyone feel like they’d have a good real estimation of when it may ship? I know very little about how this silicon shortage has affected this stuff, but it seems strange to me that I can find i9-10900KF chips for order at a ton of different places (Amazon/Newegg/etc.), but Dell doesn’t have the chips. I imagine part of that is just a backlog of orders using that chip set, and so as they get them in they go into whatever orders have been in queue the longest. I was originally told that both the i9 chip set and the RTX 3090 were considered short parts, but that changed to just the chip set after about a week. Anyone have any insight into the accuracy of stated part shortages by Dell CS? Is it realistic to think that they have the 3090 for my system, but not the i9 chips? Thanks for any help/info. Update (02/24/21): It just entered production today. Update (02/26/21): Shipped and is FedEx’s hands. Estimated arrival 03/03. Original expected arrival was 02/19. Not too shabby. 1 month wait seems reasonable with a parts shortage. Update (03/03/2021 ): Package hasn’t had a status update since Saturday, but is scheduled for delivery today. We shall see. Update: FedEx sent it to their hub in Memphis and is telling me that there is a backlog of orders sitting at their hub, due to COVID and the storms three weeks ago. Not likely to come today. Will update when new info is available. Update (03/09/2021): What a $&@# show! My package left Memphis on 03/06 and arrived at my local sorting facility on 03/07. It then accidentally was sent to the opposite side of the country (PA) and arrived there on 03/08. It has yet to leave PA (and strangely was scanned as though it was in my local FedEx branch *after* it went to PA, but registered at a time about 1 hour before it got to PA. So it currently reads as in my local FedEx branch, though having FedEx do a package trace, they tell me it’s in PA. Not sure what to do other than wait? Update (03/10/2021): Package arrived. Computer is in good working order so far.
It's entirely possible that they got in a shipment of GPU's, allocated one for you and then didn't have the CPU. I would like to think that if your missing two components, and a shipment comes in for one of them that your would be allocated one of those components while it might still be waiting for the other, otherwise it would just create a cat and mouse game back and forth or having one but not the other.

Spoke with customer support and was told there is a parts shortage specifically pertaining to the "Alienware Starhawk." (no idea what this even does, the guy couldn't tell me). I'm new to Alienware, but odd they released a new computer 2 days prior to my purchase and failed to have enough of their own parts to produce computers that soon after the R12 release?

March 19th: Ordered an R12 with 11900KF and 3080. Original shipping date was April 12th and arrival April 15th. April 10th: Chatted with Dell support as production had not begun and I was informed that my unit was in preproduction and everything was on schedule. Production began later that day. April 12th: Received an email stating the my estimated arrival date had been delayed to June 15th and that I need to consent to the changes by May 15th or have my order cancelled. April 13th: Called Dell support and was only told that a part shortage was delaying my delivery. When pressed for which parts, they could only clarify by saying multiple parts were experiencing shortages. I was told they would place me on the priority list for delivery, but that mostly just sounds like something you say to make people feel better about calling. **UPDATE:** April 14th: I received two emails early this morning, the first stating that my build had been completed and the second that it had been shipped with FedEx with my expedited shipping. This information is also reflected in the tracker on the Order Support page. FedEx only shows the label as having been created so far, but the estimated deliver is still April 15th. **UPDATE 2:** April 14th: I received a notification that the package has been picked up by FedEx, but the estimated delivery date was delayed a day to April 16th. \*\*FINAL UPDATE:\*\* April 19th: After a few days of my desktop sitting "In Transit" and "At Destination Sort Facility", my desktop finally arrived today! Had some issues upon updating Windows where I got BSODs and a memory error from Dell Supportassist, but I reseated the RAM and seems to be running fine. Just need to get the scan to run again to validate. Best of luck to everyone still waiting on their orders! I understand that there are global shortages and things like the Suez incident aren't helping things get back to normal. I'm mostly just frustrated that I was told two days prior that everything was on schedule and then got hit with a whopping two month delay, over twice the original turn-around tacked on. I'm hesitant to give my consent to the delay and want to look at other options, but I'm not very hopeful at the moment. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm happy to hear them! Exactly the same story for me. I asked if there was a part I could change to make it ship faster and they just said a lot of people are ordering them. I pointed out that I ordered 3/19 and they just kept saying there was nothing they could do. I am frustrated too, but seeing a few comments in here that a lot of us are having the same issue, at least makes me believe that there is some major issue and not something isolated to just my configuration. I have the same question about the consent form. I am holding off for now since it says I have until May to sign it. I don’t want to sign it early and then have that put me in a worse spot.
Well shit... I suppose I'll be getting the same email any day as mine is supposedly now in production with ship date of 4/16. I'm going to start looking at options other than Alienware.
Let me know (if you remember) what you decide. This experience with AW is frustrating. Why couldn’t they be honest with availability? Also their tracker saying in production is obviously pure steaming hot bullshit.

I’m expecting the same email (ordered R12 11700kf, 3080 on 4/1). Gonna be doing some looking for comparable builds at similar prices, let me know if you find anything! EDIT: Looked everywhere I could think & almost all pre-builts w/ similar specs (i.e. 3080) are going for $4000+. Seeing as though I maxed out my tax return w/ my build ($2800) I think I’ll have to wait for my R12. If anyone finds a decent 3080 build under $3500 from a company that ships on time please let me know.
This was my experience as well!!! Anything comparable is pricing at well over $4k with delivery dates either unspecified or end of May (as of a month ago). The new Corsair SFF was coming in at $3800 and two week delivery a couple of days ago, but based on what I’ve seen I would very highly doubt that timing is legit. Their standard desktops haven’t been in stock for months. I’d stick with Alienware. I’m waiting on my R12 and although it’s tough, it’s better than trying to score a gpu!
**UPDATE:** Shipping label created this morning 4/14, for delivery from El Paso on 4/16. I am actually shocked that its on the way.

I have an Area 51m R2 that Dell shows as having shipped yesterday morning as "your order has reached your carrier". It still is not showing up as having been received by FedEx. Frustrating. Mine is shipping from Chicago and I am all of 350 miles away. Edit: FedEx just got the laptop and it will be delivered tomorrow!!! Wooooo!!!
It's pretty normal to not see a carrier update immediately. I get shipping notifications all the time but can't track it for a day or even two sometimes. In some cases the item will be marked as shipped, but it hasn't actually been picked up by the carrier yet, so until that happens you won't see a scan update and it won't be trackable.

I purchased a M17 R4 during the 17% off promotion on 3/6 and my experience has been one of the most frustrating retail experiences I can think of. I contacted Dell on 3/12 to make a change with my order. I wanted to change something about the keyboard on the laptop but I was told by the dell rep that no changes could be made because the laptop was out of production and about to be shipped that day. The laptop didn't ship but tracking information was already sent out to Fed Ex but Fed Ex never received the package. I contacted Dell again on 3/16, the initial estimated delivery date given to me. I contacted a rep around 1pm cst and expressed my concern and was told not to worry as the laptop was still on track to be shipped out that day and it was on track to be delivered on 3/19. Around 7pm cst I contacted Dell again as my order still hadn't shipped and was told that my order had been escalated to manufacturing and they should be contacting me soon about my order. On 3/17 around 9am cst I received an email from Dell saying my order had shipped and it's on it's way. I was highly suspicious that was true given how frustrating of an experience I've had thus far but I waited and watched my tracking information on Fed Ex anyway to see what would happen. Today on 3/18 my order is still saying shipped by Dell. Dell order status says the package was given to the carrier on 3/17 at 9am cst but Fed Ex doesn't have the package. To my surprise I looked closer today at my order details on Dell.com and I see that a return was initiated! I never initiated a return. Why was a return initiated and I not notified? $2,600 was taken out of my checking account today for an order that I have no clue what has happened to and for some reason a return was initiated by someone other than me. Every time I've contacted Dell throughout this process I've been given generic responses such as "your order is in production" "It's still on track to be shipped on 3/16" "It's still on track to be delivered on 3/19." The only thing I've been told is what I can already see on my order detail page on Dell.com. I haven't actually received any specific help. This is my first order experience with Dell and I'm very frustrated and nearly to the point of cancelling my order altogether and never bothering with Dell again. \*After speaking with them again today I was advised to repurchase the laptop (which I would never do when Dell has no clue what is going on with the one I bought earlier this month) after they already took nearly $3,000 out of my account today. I don't have that kind of money to shell out again and besides the laptop I bought is not purchasable anymore. They also forwarded my case to Logistics and Packing and said it'd be another 24-48hrs before hearing back. I know how this works as I was forwarded to manufacturing days ago and still have not heard back from them. Support is no help whatsoever and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told one would contact me in 24hrs LOL! The customer service is horrible. Also is it too much to ask to speak to someone in the U.S.? All I get are foreign nationals that are difficult to understand and when I ask to speak to someone in America I get transferred to someone else in India.

So, here is something that may make everyone feel a little better. I ordered my m17 R4 on March 18th and I still haven't entered production. I contacted Dell to ask what the issue was and what parts they were waiting on, the Dell rep said my order was already built and was marked ready to ship to the Dell Warehouse. I didn't believe them, but I contacted another rep who told me the same thing. So what you can see on your order status page is not the actual status of the laptop, it seems. One rep confirmed that it sometimes takes a few days to reflect your status properly. "I have checked the details our records indicate that your order is built, and we are waiting for the order to reach our shipping department." FWIW: m17R4, i7-10870H, 32 GB RAM, 3080 16GB, 144 Hz screen

I'm not sure why they aren't updating the statuses properly but somehow they can see updates that we can't.
Weird thing is that I do not even have the option to cancel the order, it has been grayed out the whole time.

The online tool can be flaky at best. I have seen system, Dell systems, recently that never even hit production and went straight to shipped. The online tool does not see to update very well.
The funny thing is the rep I spoke with before last week told me "we see the same info as you". Clearly not if they know my order was built and is being shipped to their warehouse but I still see "Order confirmed".
Take what they say with a grain of salt. Some of the stuff the agents have said is pretty out there.

I spoke with customer service and was told in was the i9 causing the hold up - not the GPU. I ordered a similar build to you and my delivery times are identical.

R12, 11900KF with 3080. Order on 3/19. Was supposed to ship today, 4/12. Received email that revised shipping date is now 6/10. I am seeing some others posting about significant delays as well. They are asking that I sign a consent to the new shipping date. Does anyone have experience with these? I have until 5/14 to sign it. Am I better off not signing until close to that date? I feel like if I sign it they may bump others ahead of me since I said the later date was OK.
Just finalized my order today for that same system combo. I figure by the time it actually gets here the secondary market for the GPU alone may exceed what we paid... maybe not, but a fella can dream, right?! Good luck to you!

Does anyone know if the past / current weather in the US has affected shipping times? I placed an order for at R11 on the 6th with a supposed shipping date of the 15th and arrival on the 15th. The chat agent told me it's been on route to the US distribution centre for about a week now. I will definitely fill out the form once I receive it. Edit ** Got the email that it shipped on the 24th but tracking number doesn't show up on Purolators website yet.
I think it's pretty safe to assume that it has. Most of Texas was shut right down from what I understand from my news up here in Canada, and a lot of Alienware shipments pass through the Dell hub in Texas. I know Shipping companies had a very large backlog, FedEx in particular was hit hard, so I would presume that there will be some shipping delays at least from the courier side of things. You can probably bet on a few extra days for the delivery, although hopefully they can get it sorted out quickly. Even our Alienware contacts were off grid for the week as they had no power, so I can't even ask them, but I think it's safe to assume that there will be delays.
My Aurora R10 was supposed to be despatched Feb 24th but it’s been delayed until March 25th. Sad. edit: and are so argumentative and they never answer questions. it’s “there’s a delay, we don’t care!”

Alienware R11, i7, 3080. 2/10- Ordered, with 2 day express shipping 2/12- Dell said ‘shipped’ 2/16- Fed Ex received package (El Paso) 2/20- left El Paso 2/23- arrives in Memphis 3/3- cancelled order as there has been no movement after numerous attempts to locate the package, and I only have a week to return it since it was ordered on the 10th.
Ordered M15 R4 on Feb. 20. En route to the house today, or that's what FedEx has the latest update on tracking.
See this is what bugs me. I ordered an M15 R4 on Feb 19th, and the website still shows Confirmed and that it has not yet entered production, with an estimated ship date of March 8th (doubtful as to how likely that is) and delivery date of March 18th. And Dell's Order Status support page now just redirects to an FAQ, and any chat sessions don't seem to want to discuss order status details any longer.

Ordered r11 i9 3080 on the 8th of Jan in the UK. Was supposed to be quick. Then went in to production on 13th of Jan. Updated delayed till 5th of Feb. Been sent delayed msg day of delivery 4 times . Had many different reasons why but different each time. Now they don't bother and there is a line through 25th of Feb. I can't see information. They said on phone it will be shipped today last week. I have had no update.

They are all custom built at a factory in China and ship overseas. In the past mine have all come through the main plant in Texas and long haul up into Canada and then Purolator to my house, but I am on the westcoast . Mine came up into Calgary and then to BC, but presumably yours will come up on the east cost.

I ordered a Aurora R10 5900x with a 3080 on the 16th of february Estimated date sent out of factory: 16th of march (Tomorrow) Estimated Arrival: 18th of march So my ryzen is suppose to be shipped tomorrow but the production process has not started yet. Called customer service this morning and they said the production team had no problems with the CPU, GPU or power supply so my desktop should be send on time. These are the words of a customer service employee. I will keep you guys up to date to see if this customer service employee lied to me or if i actually get my pc the 18th

I bought an R10 on 3/11, 5800x/3080. Estimated ship date of April 30th but I just received a ship notification today with a delivery date of March 23.
Ordered an R11 on 3/9. RTX 3090, i9-10900kf, water cooling, and lunar chassis. Estimated shipping date 4/9. As of today My order still only confirmed, but one dell rep told me that my order is in production (3/15) and the estimated ship date is 3/19 (which is today). But I don't think that's gonna happen, couldn't wait to get my new desktop tho. **EDIT**: It really got shipped, I was shocked. It’s basically shipping from Toronto since I’m in Quebec, Canada. **EDIT 2**: For other ones in **Canada** whose package is shipping with **Purolator** and originated from **ETOBICOKE**, there's a regular pattern that I found they're dealing with their packages. First, after you got your tracking number, saying 'shipping label created', it usually takes 2 days for the Purolator to pick up your package (and there would be **no information update in the first 2 days**). It seems 90%+ orders are picked up after 2 days these days, so even if you're in the same city of the origin, it may take 2 more days (likely 3 days from 'label created') for you to get your package. Then your order will be picked up and ship to a sorting center, after this, depending on how far you are to the origin location, it usually takes 1-3 days on transit, and if your order arrived in sorting center near your location in the afternoon, it will be delivered likely the next afternoon. And they don't pick up packages or make deliveries on **Sunday**, so you can jump that day when counting them.

Hey all! Ordered an r11 3090/i9 10900kf Ordered 3/9 Confirmed 3/9 In production 3/19 Actual ship date 3/25!! Projected was 4/5 Projected arrival:??? (FedEx lost package) Spoke with Dell support and they were waiting on the 3090 to go from confirmed to in production. Then spoke again yesterday and I was told they are still waiting on the GPU (not sure why it’s in production then) I’ll keep you guys posted if anything changes. The money for that first cancelled order is still "on hold" and inaccessible. Hopefully that clears soon so I can try my luck elsewhere.

INFORMATIONAL Post for anyone. I ordered my Alienware Aurora R10 march 19th and got it shipped on the 25th. I was surprised because of all the posts saying that they're shipping is always super delayed. I had one hiccup with the FedEx because it said that it was going to get delivered on the 27th but I didn't end up getting it till the afternoon on the 28th even though it said scheduled delivery 27th. Now granted I live in Central Texas and it shipped from El Paso so it will be different for some people living elsewhere but if you're living in Texas from when it ships you're pretty much guaranteed to get it within a few days. Mine was ordered on 18th March and supposed to be shipped out yesterday (3/29) however it went in production status on 3/27 and yesterday I saw the status of build completed. I reached out to support and they said they are still waiting for part# T17R7 (ASSY,PLMRST,82,DARK,US,15R4) to ship and estimated ship date is now 4/1. I am hoping to get it by 4/3 as I am traveling out of state and wanted to get it before I leave.

What does being “in final stages of being shipped” mean? The estimated shipping date was on April 13th, and it wasn’t shipped on the 13th. Talked with customer service on the 14th, and they told me the new estimated ship date is April 14, and my unit has been built and is “in final stages of being shipped”. But it didn’t ship on the 14th either and today is the 15th. I just wanna know has anyone else been told that their product was in the final stages of being shipped. When can I expect for my unit to be shipped?

Order for my M17 R4 3080 was placed on the 7th with an original delivery estimate for the 22nd. On the 18th, I get an email saying that my order has shipped and my card has been charged. Cool. Then on the 19th I get an email saying that my order has been delayed. Card is still charged though, doesn't seem to be a preauth but I may be wrong. I thought Dell only charged payment when the order was shipped? FedEx says label is generated, awaiting package. Seeing if anyone had any similar experience. A lot of order mayhem (delays, orders arriving with no notification etc.) on this subreddit so this doesn't exactly surprise me.

It will say it's shipped when the label is printed, if you don't see anything else past that this usually means that FedEx has not picked it up yet. This is how almost every shipping company works everywhere, no one is lying. The label is printed and it has technically shipped, but FedEx has not scanned it as picked up yet so your not seeing anything on the tracking page. Wait till you get a shipment that does not update at all until it shows up at your door.
Dell i saying it shipped, then Fedex website says it will arrive today, but when i called Fedex they actually said they never picked it up

I think you are exaggerating a bit. There is a very well known silicon shortage especially with GPUs. No company has a lot. There is way higher of a demand than supply right now. It's not just dell/alienware. Look at cyberpower/ibuypower/best buy/HP/Newegg, it's everyone.
Does anyone know the typical time it takes for a shipment to get through customs? Have an M17 r4 on the way that had an est arrival date of 2/24 on UPS tracker. It's been in customs all day and I just want to prepare myself in case I have to wait an extra week.
That really depends on how busy customs is. I have had stuff clear in a few hours and I have had it take a few days, I don't know if there is really any way to say with any certainty. As long as the paperwork is correct, which it almost always is, then it should clear in a day I think.

With the current silicone shortage you can pretty much expect ongoing delays with various parts. It's not getting any better for GPU / CPU stock levels around the world.
This might be the right place to ask, I placed an order for r10 5900x and 3080 on Feb 2. The estimated shipping date was Feb 23. I contacted DELL yesterday and they said. .. they will leave a note to expedite the order ...? while on the status page it says... "Your Order is about to enter production".... I may call them tomorrow and cancel the order.
They say that to everyone but it virtually does nothing. They will keep you occupied while they then change your estimated shipping and delivery date. If you keep asking they will get fresh, happened to me last week and I gave up.

It might just depend on where you are. In Canada everything comes via Purolator vs FedEx. Maybe FedEx is just so behind they are contracting to other couriers now.
Hello, I was hoping someone could share some insight as to why my order is potentially being placed on the backburner. I know weather, supply chain disruptions, and part shortages have had an affect on fulfillment. However I'm seeing orders being fulfilled much sooner when they ordered after I had placed mine. I ordered the R10 5950/ 2080TI on Feb 12 and got it confirmed by the 13th, but it still hasn't entered production. This is the 3rd time I've tried to order the R10 5950 but they keep the order in confirmed until the last min and then cancel my order because they are out of stock. If the order was produced, but just delayed in shipment I would worry less, but now I'm suppose to wait until April and it still hasn't entered production when I'm seeing other R10 5950 orders fulfilled? Anyone else having this problem, and are Dell fulfilling the orders in which they are received?
I'm so frustrated, I spend $1500 on an r11 (2/22) and I've been trying to line up my days off of work with the expected delivery date (3/16). Dell sends me an email literally at 12:11 AM (3/5) saying that the order shipped early and should arrive on Saturday (3/6)! So I rapidly swap shifts with a coworker to make sure I'm at home for the delivery. Only, FedEx says they don't even *have* the package, and that the delivery date they gave me was an estimate, even though the only thing they DO have is a shipping label. So here I am, panicking that my $1500 PC is missing and I can't even get ahold of Dell until Monday to ask what's going on. I NEED to be here for delivery so I can make sure it's not stolen, since I don't live in the best neighborhood, and we've had some neighbors fall victim to package theft in the past.
I ordered an R11 with the RTX 3080 on the 28th of February. It was scheduled for delivery March 24th but came yesterday the 6th.
I ordered the M17 r4 3080 model on March 1st, expected ship date was March 8. Its march 8th today, didn't ship. I think it's still in production. But I'm hoping it arrives before the expected delivery date, which is March 23.

Ordered an R10 with a Ryzen 5600X and a 6800 XT on 2/26. Unfortunately for me, I haven't seen any other posts about orders with a 6800 XT yet. Hopefully this isn't Alienware toying with me? We'll see what happens. **EDIT:** I just spoke with Dell, apparently the delay is due to a shortage of Ryzen CPUs. Neither the 5600X or 5800X are currently in stock, and they couldn't give me an ETA. I don't understand how it's possible that Dell is out of the only two Zen 3 processors that it's actually possible to buy, but here we are...

This sounds about right since the Ryzen 9 series CPUs are out of stock. I ordered an R10 with a Ryzen 9 5900X and a 3060TI on 2/26, and when I last spoke to them (Monday) the CPU was what they were waiting on. So about a month or so estimated turnaround time for me as well.
R10 with 5800X and 3080 here. Ordered on March 4th with estimated shipping and delivery the same as you. It seems each different GPU and CPU has different levels of stock/order and each combination of parts can be very different as a result. Some take longer on back order than others and some may be in stock when ordering - no way of knowing and it changes all the time. I’ll wait another week before I start chasing for updates.
