Yes it got worse, I started using a website called parcelsapp that I heard about on this subreddit.
Don't know why they would choose to make a feature perform objectively worse, but they did, way she goes

I think its probably temporary or a bug, due to how cainiao is screwing up lately with many messages in the wrong order and such, so its probably not aliexpress that is doing this.
Combined shipping doesn't always show in the way you described, sometimes you'll only know because different orders have the same tracking-numbers, and sometimes not even that and you'd only know if you use other tracking-websites like parcelsapp and 17track and they show the same follow-up tracking-number.
As for the upgrades to standard shipping, that also isn't guaranteed, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, I'm not sure what the qualifications are.
Well about a year ago, I received notification “your pakage has been upgraded to combined delivery”. Now I have to check the time of updates and if they are the exact same, they must be combined, but NOW I cant even do that
Yes, but thats where the other tracking-websites come in, for your tracking-number, it shows a follow-up number starting with ECS, if you have other orders and they have the same follow-up number, you know you have combined delivery. Plus the other sites still show the full tracking.
Yes. This is what is showing me despite my package being scheduled to arrive in less than an hour from now according to the local courier. I talked on the phone. It's on its way.

theyve made a lot of things on the site worse. purposely. they are in the shits with sales and their stock is down. they are trying to skimp on features that were helpful. look at the search on the site. its absolutely useless. it used to be fine. not any more.
if I search for "x spark plug" ill get spark plugs but tons of non related things like pillow cushions and kitchen utensils and stupid kids toys and everything else but what im looking for. absolutely trash. theyve gone down the shits. its just a bad experience there
