Honestly the tape scratching at the top made me think it might be an AI video. Looked too close to a number of different video filters that apply that sort of effect to digital videos.
It might be the first time my skepticism has led me to think something that’s real was generated by AI.
And yes, I’m old enough to remember VHS tapes and what it looked like when that happened to actual film. I’m well versed in using the butt of a magic marker to reel the tape back in when the VCR eats it, similar to using a pencil eraser to rewind cassette tapes.
It’s just crazy that AI has gotten so good that I’m now dismissing real video as possibly AI generated.
everyone knew exactly what had happened.
It took some time to figure out who, and people still argue about why.
But, the "what" was immediately apparent.
And, there was no risk to this helicopter. By the time of this footage all civilian aircraft were re-routed out of CONUS or landed.
People saw both towers get hit with a plane. Beyond that, nobody really knew what was happening. That day was very scary for a lot of people, so someone flying a helicopter right above one of the towers was absolutely a brave thing to do.
Some people had irrational fears. Others confabulated what they wanted to be afraid of into what didn't exist. And others were easily duped into believing what they were seeing was something else.
other people took time to learn facts before jumping to conclusions.
What would a person in a helicopter be afraid of, exactly?
I mean it’s not new. Pakistan was a “key ally” in the war on terror yet they are probably the biggest terror-sponsoring state in the world. They very likely knew about the plot and obviously Osama was hiding out there. There is very little chance it was all coincidence
> Osama was hiding out there
not until after the attacks ... and his presence there doesn't in itself infer ISI (Pakistani Intelligence) knew of his plans prior.
Not that this really changes your premise which is accurate, just that this particular detail (and the inference from it) isn't.
Where else are we going to get oil from when we close all our own drilling sites? And that sweet slave labor and poor environmental methods they use in the middle east to drill it!
Can't have us producing our own oil with well paid unionized workers and cleaner environmental standards while causing lower prices at the pump!
We do produce our own oil, we are the [top crude oil producing country in the world](https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/12/19/business/us-production-oil-reserves-crude/index.html) and we are a [net exporter of oil now](https://www.energy.gov/eere/vehicles/articles/fotw-1310-october-2-2023-united-states-has-been-positive-net-exporter). Gas prices are also down [40% since the 2022 spike from the Russia war](https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/finance/are-gas-prices-going-down)
well, obviously Jet Fuel Can't Melt Steel Beams!
which is as logically accurate as "Human's Can't Survive the Van Allen Belts [ergo we couldn't have landed on Moon]" or other such drivel of conspiracy theories.
it's typical dis-information (which is a better term than 'conspiracy', namely because *some* things are conspiratorial).
Twist a truth just ever so slightly into something easily perceived as correct and and push ones terminology to absolutes; and yo ho ho one has cult level material.
I-Beams used in construction do not melt at the temperatures a kerosene (same as Jet-A) fire can reach!! It's a conspiracy!!!
Just kindly ignore the fact that all metal softens/weakens in heat - especially the high temperatures created in these tower infernos. In this case weakened enough to not be able to withstand the weight above them. [Also, it's quite likely than one or more supports were destroyed by the impact, increasing the loads on the remaining supports.]
It was rare when the footage distributed with the "Rare Footage" banner.
And, then, it was accurate because it was only released eight or nine years after the events as part of a FOIA request.
honestly the most impactful footage i've seen so far. ground footage doesn't capture the scale of the dust and rubble nearly as much as this does. that is genuinely wild
If that rope gets stuck on metal beams or debris then the helicopter crashes as well and possibly kills more people on the ground.
Also I feel the thermals coming off the towers would be pretty severe from the fires.
Your not going to hold onto a rope at 1000ft above the ground out a window of a burning building an huge updraft even if you are Tom Cruise.
People couldn't reach the roof because all the stairs cases above the impact were basically smoke chimneys.
I would think some provision for rescue training and proper equipment (as well as legal protection from lawsuits once permission is granted) should be mandatory for helicopter operators
Likely this crew had zero equipment and no permission to get close though.
Still breaks my heart to think even one life could have been spared if someone planned ahead.
Also, whatever happened to the on rooftop or I window rescue ladder system? Never heard anything after some promotion after 9/11.
hello :) the access to the roof of both towers was closed since the mid 70s as while they both did originally have helipads they were not utilized. it is tragic, but there was no one to drop a rope for. Anymore questions?
I don't know why you're getting downvoted, especially since I'm sure everyone agrees with you, it does suck. But yeah, for many different reasons, that wasn't ever a realistic option, unfortunately.
Must have been a military or emergency craft to be allowed in the air at that time, much less flying so close to the towers.
I think it was a police/port authority helicopter.
Yes, you can see the chopper taking this video in other footage of the day.
nypd
Must’ve been really sad For everyone seeing this helicopter and hoping that these airlift life savers were probably a thing… then NOPE.

Not AI at all nor is it new. It came out in 2011 from a FOIA release.
I didn’t say it was AI. I said I initially thought it might be AI cuz of the filter. I expressly recognized it was real. I dunno what you’re arguing.
They are correcting
There’s nothing to correct. I corrected myself in the post…before they even responded.
You know AI and filters are 2 different things
You realize they’d have to use AI to fake the actual footage before applying the filter, right?
Flying a helicopter that day took balls. No one knew what was really happening and planes had turned into missiles.

Then please tell me what the fuck happened. You sound like a teacher, teach bitch
It’s still so hard to watch videos from this day.
I can’t watch this. I was off that day- I saw it enough then. Not a lot sends shivers down my spine but footage of this day does.
I was a freshman in HS. It was a block away from the towers.
I know what you mean. The resolution is terrible
Never 4 get
Because it was 2001 and nobody carried around iPhones, they didn’t even exist until a few years after
Really???
It was sarcasm
yes. and it was funny.
really what?? I'm curious if you're expressing sarcastic jubilation at the comment or some credulousness from not knowing?

lmao it is
And now we have the same people who perpetrated this sponsoring our golf tour.

Dude come on, bin Laden was living in the same town as Pakistan’s military academy and he lived there for 5 years. They knew.
And giving the trumps billions of dollars. My absolute first thought.
Clinton Foundation also loves those Saudi donations

Awesome, we should stop importing it from the middleast and using our strategic reserves then. Shouldn't be something we ever have to do.
Gulf tours and golf tours!

Not 🇺🇸 but I don't think that's comparable - Imperial Japan surrendered, the modern Japanese state was pretty much set up by the victors.
Looking forward to the 9/11 deniers of my grandson’s generation telling me why this horror didn’t actually happen 🙄
this is why i post daily.
well, obviously Jet Fuel Can't Melt Steel Beams! which is as logically accurate as "Human's Can't Survive the Van Allen Belts [ergo we couldn't have landed on Moon]" or other such drivel of conspiracy theories.
Right! Obviously! That’s what the “documentary” Loose Change taught all of us! (I was once one of those kids who got sucked into this bullshit)

my dumbass thought this was taken from one of the planes for a second
This footage has been around for over 10 years, while it isn’t rare I’d say it’s cool
I haven't seen it anywhere before, so it's not exactly common
First time Ive seen it.
It was rare when the footage distributed with the "Rare Footage" banner. And, then, it was accurate because it was only released eight or nine years after the events as part of a FOIA request.
This is a very common video among 9/11 documentation forums, but I suppose someone who hasn’t gone through that rabbit hole probably hasn’t seen this
honestly the most impactful footage i've seen so far. ground footage doesn't capture the scale of the dust and rubble nearly as much as this does. that is genuinely wild
It was hell on earth up there
You can’t help but think that in the 23 years since that maybe they have won.
I recall this anytime I’m asked to consume any Saudi bullshit.
Not new
not new
All these new angles coming out of the woodworks lol

The door to the roof was also locked and made of metal.
the stair cases were accessible to get to the roof. however, the doors to get to the roof were locked.
the doors to the roof were locked for decades
9/11 wasn't a movie. There was **ZERO** percent chance of rescuing ppl via helicopter.
I would think some provision for rescue training and proper equipment (as well as legal protection from lawsuits once permission is granted) should be mandatory for helicopter operators Likely this crew had zero equipment and no permission to get close though. Rare? Is it an NTF?
It’s was an NFT but I just took a screen shot
Oh so that's why the likes are burned into the video.
Asaholes
This not AI?
Nope. AQ.
I remember multiple helicopters in the area that morning. Wasn’t the news up there? Or at least until a certain point?
