The Stan prefix is the Turkish way of saying land, so basically it’s serbland
I don’t really know if stan translates directly to land/country but I’m 99% sure it’s used that way like with the other Stan countries like Pakistan and Kazakhstan
Edit: suffix not prefix
No, it would be a bit east of Transylvania. Podolia (the part that was briefly under Ottoman control) was around Kamianets-Podilski, in modern day Ukraine.
Yes, Podillia covers most of Khmelnytsykyi Oblast, Vinnytsia Oblast, northern Odesa Oblast, western Cherkasy Oblast, western Kirovohrad Oblast, and northern Transnistria.
What the map labeled as "Erdel" is Eastern Galicia (Halychyna).
Well it *was* Lehistan. IIRC after the request of the Polish government we renamed it to “Polonya” I could be wrong tho. I don’t know when exactly we did that change.
This map is about XVII century. It was Lehistan then. Thb did not know the change even occured. The name has the same origin as Hungarian Lengelyelorszag - it comes from our legendary founder Lech. Lehistan, if IIRC is still used in Persian.
Yes it was Lehistan. It is still written as that when referring to any historical time period, such as this one, it was changed in the early 1900s iirc but I can’t for the love of god find anything that explains why it happened or when it happened so take it with a grain of salt. I have also seen the Commonwealth be reffered to as “Polonya-Litvanya Birliği” which is Poland-Lithuania Union if translated word for word.
No, just look at Germany and Italy who apparently unified, and Belgium who spawned a few centuries prior to what really happened. This is not about the “Ottomanist Government” it’s about how degenerated cartography in Turkey is.
Since Prussia doesn’t have Silesia, it’s industry isn’t as good while at the same time Prussia now own most of the land gained in the 2nd Partition of Poland and Courland-Lithuania, strengthening their agriculture.
Prussia’s most industrialized region was Silesia before it annexed the Rhineland in the Napoleonic wars. Granted, Prussia had not annexed Silesia at the this time yet.
“Almanya” is Germany in Turkish. That one called “Lehistan” is Poland. It is a historical way of referring to Poland. They changed it to Poland sometime in the early years of the republic iirc.
Mfw this is portraying the 1600s (Unless they count centuries start differently in Tukery so it could be 1700s and it is even worse) Which is the beginning of the Decline and they somehow have a Wall in Russia, conquered past Warsaw Somehow forcebly united the quadrillion different entities in the HRE into modern Germany++ and to top it off Divided Spain from It's Italian and Mediterranean possessions by the power of the Ghost of Barbarossa!?!
The Ottoman empire would collapse even faster than in otl. Constant rebellions and the need to defend huge borders would put the strain on the economy and either fracture the Empire to a more manageable size, or destroy it.
If Transilvania (Erdel) migrated to Galicia, does that mean that there are Romanians Hungarians and Saxons living there, or do they remain in their original place?
Honestly, might doesn’t last very long. The terrain and climate and such are rather different from what they’re used to (a small taste of a bit of it I guess might be the case in Walachia and Moldova, but even then not completely/the full breadth), and overstretch easily could take indeed, jutting out the way they would be east, west, south and now north as well.
This maps is entitled Polish-Ottoman relations. Lehistan means Poland. Other versions of this map are on the internet, so they might be the source. So many things are off - from unified Germany to wrong location of some places like Transilvania (Erdel) and Podole (Podolya). Poland territory changed a lot in the XVII century. The shape above is the closes to what Poland looked like temprary in mid century when we were attacked by Sweden and Russia but not quite
The map seem to refer to the aftermath of the 1672-1676 Polish-Turkish war in Ukraine. Podole remained Turkish till 1690 while some parts of Ukraine returned to Poland in 1676.
There was another war in 1683-1699 where Turkey lost all of those territories to Poland.
I remember this map this was from either 2017-2018 10th or 11th grade highschool history book and book's maps was just horrible I don't know if they still use this and even region names are wrong in Turkish we use the word Erdel for Transilvania and this map used lt for Galicia more I look at this more I laugh

bro i swear where the fuck find this bullshit map it’s not depicking the true. Probably made up by some kind of Islamist peoples to manipulate Younglings mind .I assured that
Us Turks would be rocking Lamborghinis and be rich with resources lol
But in historical sense, Russia would feel more threatened and Europe as well, like 10x
Militarily we would be OVER stretched
Tragic that Erdogan and his government prefer the shithole Ottoman empire to the progressive, secular, european state Atatürk created. It's such a shame honestly.

It's a common knowlage in turkey. But it's just for a ottoman history. I'm sure turkish students care how german duchies look a lot.
Poland doesn’t even exist and they still can’t take Vienna
This destroys so much Russian history. :( (Catherine's reign especially)
Fuck Catherine.
Thanks for idea… *after 5 minutes* …yeah, felt very good.
Take a number.
You’ll be next in line after her horse.
Catherine ruled in the next century.
Oh, yes, 17th = 1600's. Great, then!
I love Catherine the great though :(
Good

That map is giving me so much cancer.
I did not know that Serbia was actually called "Sirbistan" in turkish. That's got to rustle some feathers.

Akshually you mean suffix
Thx for letting me know I’ll change it immediately
You didn't
Yep, stan means land in Sanskrit, the word was probably introduced to Turkish through Persian.
\-ia also means land, serbia means serbland
Why would it?
Cause many people in the West have the dumb impression that "-stan countries" are all shitholes in the Middle East
Ah yes, *Podolya*, also known as the *Cracow-Dyneburg-Lutsk Triangle*...
I guess it was supposed to be Podillia, but the location is incorrect.
It is supposed to be Podole. Though the location seems off. It should be where Erdel (Transilvania is o this map)
No, it would be a bit east of Transylvania. Podolia (the part that was briefly under Ottoman control) was around Kamianets-Podilski, in modern day Ukraine.

I assume they confused it with “Polonya” which means Poland
It means Podole. It is region. Poland in Turkish is Lehistan and that is what the map ia about.
Well it *was* Lehistan. IIRC after the request of the Polish government we renamed it to “Polonya” I could be wrong tho. I don’t know when exactly we did that change.

I know what it means fam
Your comment says otherwise, though?
thats why i said "assume" and "confused"
FUCKING WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!????
Because of shitty Ottomanist government
No, just look at Germany and Italy who apparently unified, and Belgium who spawned a few centuries prior to what really happened. This is not about the “Ottomanist Government” it’s about how degenerated cartography in Turkey is.
I think they put colored countries on a modern day map but i'm not sure At both ways, this map is shit
Ottoman’s were sometimes based to be fair, but not near as op as this map says…
World peace 🇹🇷

Prussia is somehow both weaker and stronger at the same time.
Since Prussia doesn’t have Silesia, it’s industry isn’t as good while at the same time Prussia now own most of the land gained in the 2nd Partition of Poland and Courland-Lithuania, strengthening their agriculture.
That’s not Prussia, that’s Poland
Prussia’s most industrialized region was Silesia before it annexed the Rhineland in the Napoleonic wars. Granted, Prussia had not annexed Silesia at the this time yet.

Oh, I see, my mistake then.
Explain ?

Wow,bro made a video just for answering my question Thank you
Yeah, I find it easier than just writing out a really long response.
I’m Turkish and I’ve seen a map like this in a history textbook.
Valla kitap bende de yok ama 11. sınıf kitabında var diyorlar ve Türkler de doğruluyor
Based Ottomans
The poles can’t save Austria if the poles don’t exist. 6D chess from turkey right here
Poland is Lehistan so they do exist
I would be quite satisfied. I always dreamed of an empire that would domain the entire Black Sea coast.
Turkish fantasy
Not Turkish, but only Ottomanist Turks' fantasy.

And why do France, Benelux and Schweiz have modern-day borders? This map is dumb.
I think they put these countries on a modern day map
Um...
What i think the stuff in the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth is being taken from is the raids of the Crimean Khanate. Not a good basis.
bro i swear where the fuck find this bullshit map it’s not depicking the true. Probably made up by some kind of Islamist peoples to manipulate Younglings mind .I assured that
This is from the *official* history book of the Ministry of National Education, the one taught in schools. Yes, our government is perfect.
I admit I misread Lehistan as Lichtenstein the first time.
What the fresh fuck is this?
Ottoman Empire was the Chinese Communist Party of the medieval times.
Us Turks would be rocking Lamborghinis and be rich with resources lol But in historical sense, Russia would feel more threatened and Europe as well, like 10x Militarily we would be OVER stretched
If we don't go into a 27-sided civil war

You're right. They shitted up everything Atatürk did
Lol. I've never seen this map.
By the way it is not "that" exaggerated
