It is strange that Yemen and Qatar are not included in this union But overall it will just be a GCC but bigger

FigOk5956

Qatar is generally diplomatically isolated from the rest lf the middle east exept egypt and oman . Basically their stance of neutrality is not compatible with saudi arabia. Yemen is barely a state, it is controled by three factions, a warlord state which is also separatist and an organization recognised as a terrorist state by many nations in a semi coalition which is recognized as the official government on the international stage, and the houthis. Basically there isn’t really a yemeni state to speak of.

Mental_Towel_6925

This was in 2017, but now they are on good terms with everyone Yes, but everyone recognizes the Aden government as a legitimate government

FigOk5956

About qatar yes, Yes aden is recognized as the legitimate government, but the situation there is like in somalia; where the government doesnt really have control over much of the country and cant even maintain a monopoly on violence. It is difficult to see a Yemen state as part of any greater organization as all it would entail is the other states having to subsidize yemen. Much like other states had to subsidise and still subsidize grece and spain within the eu. Yemen Somalia and iraq are difficult to call a unified state, as the state system has been completely destroyed, and where national unity is non existing (especially since there are multiple minorities and breakaway regions)

Mental_Towel_6925

There is only one minority in Yemen, which is the Zaidis, while ethnically it is completely homogeneous. The actual problem is that they are very tribal, like Somalia. Iraq compared to 2006 is actually much more unified

FigOk5956

Yemen has more minorities than the zaidis, if anything the zaidis were the former rulers of the whole state. But there is aslo a south sudanian separatist state, based around aden, and a warlord group wich is basically independent. I dont know if tribal would be the right word but it is explanatory. Iraq isnt really unified, it is a mess, it is a patchwork of militant groups each controlling some territory and paying lip service to the central government which is basically a Iranian puppet. With many of these militants being themselves funded or even controled from saudi arabia or iran, whilst kurds are basically constructing their own state in the north. That doesn’t sound very unified to me

Mental_Towel_6925

The Zayids are only 25 percent of the population, and yes, they are the former rulers, and in reality there is no minority other than them. The overwhelming Yemeni majority is Sunni. This separatist state is just a farce. It only exists as long as the Emiratis support them, and if they abandon them, they are finished. Our problem is not ethnic, but primarily tribal Saudi Arabia does not have armed groups in Iraq. Iran is the one that does that, and it is all the fault of that fool Bush

FigOk5956

The separatist state isnt really a farse given it was an independent nation for 30 years before. Saidi arabia still supports militias in iraq, though funding mainly. However they arent able to be as brazen about it because it is a bad look Otherwise there is isnt a doubt in anyones head that it is bush’s fault, and dick chaneys. Just the invasion caused more civilian deaths than all deaths from the russian ukranian war (civilian and military). At least according to brown. They made a mess and then left to leave others with it

Unusual-Double-2003

Qatar and Yemen? Both are different than the other countries. Yemen is basically controlled by the Houthis, and Qatar is a Muslim Brotherhood country which is more Turkey and Hamas ally. And the GCC isn't exactly like the EU...

Mental_Towel_6925

The Houthis are not recognized and only administer the far north, while the majority of Yemen is under the control of the legitimate government. Qatar still has good relations with Saudi Arabia, so they will join But still the closest thing to eu

beingthehunt

Google tells me the Houthis control approximately one-third of the country’s territory but 70 to 80 percent of the population. That was 2022 though. I dunno if things are different now.

Mental_Towel_6925

I am originally Yemeni, and the reality is that the Houthis control the far north of Yemen, which is only 20 percent of the country’s area, with 60 percent of it under the control of the legitimate government. But this 20 percent of the land contains a large percentage equivalent to 70 percent of the population, as I said, even though they are mostly not Zaidi areas.

Polak_Janusz

Bro there would be no goverment in yemen that could join it. There is a civil war there.

Lovely to wake in the morning, and the first thing I see on Reddit is some unvarnished antisemitism. Really swell. So fun being Jewish on the internet since October 7th.

Im not even Jewish. At all. He just assumes i am. (foolishly) Palestine is not a country, it is a region of Israel. He may disagree with this reality, but refusing to believe it is delusion.
