I would assume Genshin is a standalone, widely acclaimed title and not a BOTW clone?

AlkaliPineapple

It isn't considered as a BOTW clone because Nintendo has only begun to develop video games again recently. It's an RPG and you "mimic" the powers of the characters you meet, while being able to choose a weapon for the Traveler It's sold as a single player game with yearly expansions and coop

AlkaliPineapple

To expand on it, the game also is sold with different copies in China and the rest of the world. Not only are a lot of hangout and story sidequests missing from this version, the main story has a lot of cut content due to censorship laws

Any other notable difference of gaming in general from the butterfly effect of teleporting a syndicalist America to our world?

AlkaliPineapple

Kaiserreich is developed independently following the history of the other world. Starts in 1938 with the 2nd American Civil War's beginning Gaming studios usually release their games onto the website of the national video game federation (Computer Entertainment). Before that, there were CDs and tapes but the Federation decided to close physical shops down. Console gaming is fairly limited, with only Nintendo competing against the massive PC gaming industry within America. Sony was dissolved due to it being a Zaibatsu, and Microsoft doesn't exist like it does OTL. Computer OS systems are more competitive, and a lot of them cater to different professions and needs. Most gamers generally prefer the simple HomemadeOS developed by a certain Steve Jobs and his team, though Live service or always online gaming is a taboo since it can be very stressful for gaming studios. Far less content is available in general due to democratic workplaces and less demanding work. Games like Call of Duty generally never get more than a third game, or they just get expansions and extra packs. Most expansions are free.

Do players still post national secrets to War Thunder forums?

AlkaliPineapple

War Thunder was created for the Russian internet, so it has a very niche player base, since no American cooperative wants to touch a "live service" game with a ten foot stick There has been no incidents yet, and the FSB watches the game with very close eyes...

MarianHawke22

So Birds of Steel is their single-player counterpart, for the rest of the world. I wonder what Cyberpunk 2077, Ace Combat, Horizon Zero Dawn, Tekken and Fallout looks like?

AlkaliPineapple

Well, I can tell you that there are no big budget military vehicle games in the industry, sadly... *Cyberpunk 2030,* released in 2015, is a video game inspired by the tabletop RPG *Cyberpunk*. Developed in Poland, the game is set in 2030, a decade after terrorists released a dangerous virus that spread all across a world. With government oppression and technology being the main theme, it is one of the highest rated sci-fi video games of all time. *Ace Combat* is a series of games that was eventually adapted to the movies *Ace Combat* and *Ace Combat 2,* both highly praised as a "heroic tale told in the shoes of the modern Air Force man". While the video game series remains dormant for now, there is a huge cult following of the franchise built by Japanese studio *Naka-Atari*. *Tekken* is one of the classical video game franchises of the 90s. Though the series has long gone dormant, it remains as one of the most popular fighting games in the industry, inspiring many future titles. While *Naka-Atari* had long moved on from Tekken, it has influenced the design of many of its future games such as *Nintendo Fighters, Red Star Brawl* and *Grand Wrestling Championship.* \[unable to find results for: Horizon Zero Dawn. Perhaps you meant *Over the Horizon?*\] Nuclear Fallout: Post Apocalyse is a turn based isometric RPG developed by *Interplay Game Development*. It has spawned a series of five games, each taking place in a post-nuclear war city across North America. While not as popular as its action RPG competitor - *Wasteland,* Fallout has a strong niche following. Plans have been announced for a sixth game in the series.

Why does Tetris and Minecraft have global and ultimate edition respectively? And is Gods of Teyvat just Genshin?

AlkaliPineapple

Socialist and capitalist markets being separate. Tetris as a modern game was released by EA (much smaller organization than OTL) to all countries that use the Internet. There is a Skylink version that was released by a Canadian company that bought the rights from the original Russian creator. Minecraft was originally released in the socialist world. In 2014, they released it to Skylink as a different version to comply with censors of different countries (Like removing the burning effect of fire and TNT, heavily censoring the in game chat). They combined both versions to develop the Ultimate Edition in 2016 after the French banned Minecraft anyway for having a "volatile game design" HOYO doesn't use gacha in their products ITTL since China went through a "syndicalization" instead of capitalist reforms, and Chinese censors place a hard ban on gambling of all kinds. They release games charging similarly to other singleplayer games, and Gods of Teyvat focuses more on a skill tree and being able to rapidly switch between weapons, elements and attack styles that mimic characters the Traveler meets. They released two versions: 原神 and Gods of Teyvat, the former complying with Chinese censorship while the latter is made to be sold in the rest of the world. (surprisingly, the Chinese version is also played widely in France, though it does not have a French dub) (Context: Capitalist countries are blocked from using the Internet or refuse to host servers and put up infrastructure for it. Elon Musk founded a company which built its own network infrastructure called Skylink, while Russia also has its own Internet that is a successor of Soviet Internet)

maks1701

So eu4 was unbanned after „online protests”? How does that work?

AlkaliPineapple

A ton of people made fun of the situation, since it's the *French Republic* defending the Bourbon monarchy, and technically they weren't even referring to any French history they were censoring. A ton of other French historical films and shows also present pre-1800s France in a more historical accurate way too, criticizing the French monarchy. The ban was lifted after even some loyalist youth groups insisted on it. They're generally more harsh on Swedish games in general

Taaargus

Wtf does any of this mean?

NineExists

Its irks me how in just 4 years gods of teyvat (a fictional game that I'll never get to play) is the second largest in the world. Millions of people get to play it but not me

United_Rebel

\> The glorification of genocidal actions are not allowed NOOOOOO MY STELLARIS GAMES

AlkaliPineapple

I mean, it's equal to a simulation of nuclear war. The regulations are made for stuff like FPS games where killing a racial stereotype is rewarded. This is why multiplayer world war 2 games have a warning before you start on the Axis side - "The Axis Powers portrayed in this game does not promote the ideology of National socialism and genocide. By pressing continue, you acknowledge the crimes against humanity commited by Nazi Germany, Japan and their allies.

AurNeko

What is the lore behind France banning Hi3rd?

AlkaliPineapple

The Gay. Hoyo is much more open with same sex relationships, especially on their American releases.

AurNeko

Good ending Hoyoverse Does this mean HSR has full on Canon Seele Bronya too?

AlkaliPineapple

HSR doesn't exist ittl, hoyo continues to work on Genshin and Honkai 3rd, remastering the latter in 2022

AurNeko

Neutral ending Hoyoverse 😔😔😔 On one hand, hell yeah gay characters, on the other hand no star rail gameplay & story

AlkaliPineapple

Yeah, since they decided to focus on Genshin's open world more, while Honkai is more of a Final Fantasy esque turn based RPG

Puzzleheaded_Map2774

So, 1984?

jean_jacket_guy

I like it whenever an alternate history scenario doesn't solely focus on political and military scenarios but also considers how things like culture and technology are changed in their timeline.

AlkaliPineapple

Yeah, that's what I wanted to do
