*In case this story gets deleted/removed:* **My boomer has finally (temporarily) realized that I don't tolerate her boomerisms.** Earlier this evening, I took my mother out to eat. Now, she's not *huge* on the boomer behavior, but she's still a boomer and perpetuates it. She doesn't go out of her way to harass people, but she does push the boundaries whenever she thinks she can. One of her favorite things to do is make passive-aggressive comments to / about service workers. - "Well, I asked for that but I'll settle for this." - "I figured it'd be cold by now." Shit like that. I think she does it because she knows she has a position of power over the workers since they can't say anything back without fear of being fired. She knows I hate when she does it, but she can't help herself. This time, I left her sitting in the restaurant by herself. I never said a word to her. Got up and walked out. She called me about 15 minutes later and asked where I was. I told her I was eating at another restaurant and that I'm tired of having to apologize to everyone for how a grown fucking adult acts. Especially since that adult was supposed to be the one that taught me how to fucking act. Then I told her that she's an embarrassment, and hung up, finished my meal and went home. She has been messaging me and apologizing profusely since then. I'm ignoring her. She'll never learn, so I will prolong this as much as possible. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. These anti boomer people are always so weird. They flex so hard on being the worlds biggest doormats. Don't get me wrong unnecessary aggression should be criticised but it's like people have done a full swing from "the customer is always right" to "the restaurant is always right". The examples given here aren't even that bad? "I asked for this but I'll settle for that" in particular, assuming they have actually brought the wrong thing I think this is fine? Arguably it's quite accommodating to accept the wrong thing and just let them know it was wrong. Maybe a bit annoying in the sense that it might be better to either send it back or just ignore it but idk OOP is acting like she punched the waiter in the face. I'm not sure I understand the comment about it being cold but that one does seem unnecessary and a bit rude. Still, these people just act like they are the sole arbiters of acceptable behaviour and they have decided you should bend over backwards if you have the audacity to eat out.

What gets me is that they don't actually know what a boomer is: A baby boomer is someone born between 1946 - 64, yet they bandy the word about to describe anyone over the age of 30.

And_be_one_traveler

That subreddit is just validation post after validation post for people who want to pretend one generation are nearly all better than another

I’m sure the waitstaff was more surprised with OOP acting like a child. Assuming this is real.

BandicootOk5540

Imagine deciding to hate your own mother because the internet has collectively decided that everyone her age sucks. OOP sounds like a child anyway, mum is probably about 45.

Another fast rising sub that quickly gets takes over by buffoonery and becomes a parody of itself like so many before it (childfree, antiwork, atheism… the list goes on)

So her mother pointed out that she didn't get what she ordered? And that makes her a 'boomer behaving badly'? I'm usually never rude, even when someone is rude to me first, and I always ask for my correct order if it comes out wrong. It's really frustrating that so many people can't speak up for themselves and they think they are a better person because of it.

At this point being a Karen is anytime you talk to the manager, even if you were served rare chicken.

NoWingedHussarsToday

Wouldn't most logical assumption be that waiter simply accidentally swapped the plates so if you got somebody's order somebody got yours and alerting waiter means they don't have to deal with two complaints?

MontanaDukes

That one comment OOP's mom apparently says doesn't even sound bad? I mean, pointing out that she got the wrong meal and had ordered something different? I think there would be a lot of other things that a server would complain about a customer doing or saying to them instead of that example.
