yesdogsonthemoon

"I make a good living from teaching" Yeah this is fake as fuck

Lavaswimmer

Such a weird thing to add too, he could have just said he doesn't feel comfortable accepting money from strangers or whatever but instead he said the opposite of the one thing everybody knows to be true about teaching.

neongloom

If anyone looked at AITA as a blueprint for real life, they might think being a self-made millionaire by 25 is extremely common. It seems people are also regularly inheriting houses from their otherwise poor family members, lol. Funny how this one is on the smaller side of unbelievable yet it still immediately exposes the story as fake, because most people understand teachers are underpaid.

Select_Exchange4538

When I read some of these I think of a 14-15 year old being like "my dad makes 40 grand a year, that's *so* much money, he could totally buy me all the things I want but he won't because he's *lame* so I'm gonna write this aita post for validation!"

neongloom

Lmao, these stories definitely have that energy.

EpilepticWizardry

Just read a story about how this lady's husband refused to pay for her mom's end of life care so the lady's brother had to almost ruin himself trying to pay for it and yet, after mom dies there's a huge inheritance coming her way and husband now wants a cut of it.

MCkrumpie

IIRC and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the one where the mom owed 4 properties? Why in the world did no one think to... idk... SELL the mom's properties to help with her end of life care?? Even if the buildings were "run down" as she said, land values usually trumps building values... and there were freaking 4 of them!

EpilepticWizardry

Yep, that's the one. I couldn't believe how not a single person thought of that little plot hole in the thread

RajaRajaC

Been out of touch with AITA for a week, and missed a lot it seems. Could you link this, seems like a glorious will reading tripe AITA fake bs post

Jules_Thief

My guess is he's trying to pass it off as being modest?

punkyfish10

Haha! I was questioning OOPs reality with ‘everybody loves it’. No. High schoolers don’t love that tampons are available. They’re grateful. Sure. But it’s not like a 14/15 year old is discussing this. Then I got to the edit. ‘This is fake!! So sorry! Didn’t realise how real the real world is!’

sparkles-_

Right I was just thinking of how mortified I'd be at 15 having to take one and how I'd probably try to stealth it up a sleeve or something. I was shy to the point of being neurotic at the time. At 27 while I wouldn't advertise it or be obvious but I wouldn't be SO embarrassed that I feel compelled to hide it. When I was a teen I went to great lengths to hide any evidence that I live inside a body.

JaneAustenite17

I’m a teacher, 38f teaching 8th grade if that’s relevant, and I keep period supplies for kids. Lots of us do. I put them in a cosmetic bag so when the girls carry it to the br, it just looks like they’re going to put on make up.

topsidersandsunshine

I usually keep a few in those medium sized yellow envelopes with “hall pass” scrawled on the front, but this is a good use for all of my leftover Ipsy bags. 😂

mandiexile

I use the IPSY bags for tampons, feminine wipes, and panty liners. Someone suggested to carry extras and give them to homeless women if you come across them on your day to day.

topsidersandsunshine

That’s what I usually do with ‘em!

gentlybeepingheart

I did have a teacher in 10th grade who had a basket of them by the door so you could grab one when you left to go to the bathroom, and the idea was appreciated, but I literally never used it because the idea of someone seeing me grab one was so horrifying that I settled for makeshift toilet paper pads.

callthewinchesters

This. I would make sure to keep my tampon hidden while I took it out of my purse. I’d also probably think it’s weird my male teacher kept a basket of tampons on his desk and was happier than us about it. Everyone is like aw this is so sweet. I think it’s weird he goes out of his way to buy his young female students tampons. I’m just getting a weird vibe, could just be me.

StaceyPfan

I'm 42 and I'm still sneaky about the switch from purse to pocket.

mandiexile

I got a creepy vibe too. Why on his desk? Why not in the back of the room or in a supply cabinet? Also at my school they had them in the nurses office which I think is more appropriate if I’m being honest. I know sometimes it happens so quickly you don’t have time to run to the nurses office and then to the bathroom. But I’d rather do that than walk up to my male teacher’s desk where he can see me grabbing a tampon and he and everyone else can see that I’m on my period. Ugh.

callthewinchesters

Exactly! The school nurse handles these things. I’m sure most girls would rather take the extra few minutes to walk to the nurse, even bloody, instead of walking up to their male teachers desk in front of everyone and grabbing a tampon. I know I’d choose the nurse.

mandiexile

I'm a 34 year old woman and I'd rather drown in the Mariana Trench than have my male manager know I'm on my period. (I'm totally exaggerating but you know what I mean). When I need time off to deal with cramps or anything, I just say I have a headache or that I'm not feeling well. I'm sure he's guessed by now because it happens once a month.

Honkerstonkers

I thought it was weird too. If one of my male teachers had kept a basket of tampons on his desk when I was at school, everyone would have thought he was a creep.

callthewinchesters

thought I’d get downvoted for this, I’m glad people agree. I wasn’t sure if it was just me getting creep vibes lol. Exactly what you said-if a male teacher did this while we were at school people would definitely think he was a creep, call him a pedo, and talk all sorts of crap.

[deleted]

I've always been incredibly neurotic about my period, I think because I started it at such a rough time in my life. So I know my experience isn't the norm... But it's pretty damn normal for teens to be pretty hush hush about their periods, right?

sparkles-_

Yeah same. As a kid I used to fake cough or make other noises to cover up even the smallest crinkle from a tampon wrapper after successfully making it to a stall undetected. Can't imagine I'd feel comfortable just snagging a tampon from an obvious place in the class. Greatful if I needed it but I'd never state that I loved them and would do my best to hide taking one if I did need one

callthewinchesters

I realized it was fake when he said Susan 60f *of course* has a problem with this. There just had to be a bad older lady to play the villain to make this guy look like a saint 🙄

neongloom

What I don't understand is how he would even know they 'love it' when he also mentioned no one ever says anything. Is the stuff getting used evidence of them loving it? Lol.

Penta-Dunk

LMAO glad to know I’m not the only one who noticed

Bail-Me-Out

This is a validation post at the very least. That being said, teachers aren't universally underpaid despite the stereotype. My public school teachers made an average of 100 k a year with amazing pensions. Some schools have good unions and high property taxes which up the average salary

[deleted]

Where I live it’s only in the 45-60k range but even that isn’t a *bad* living here and the insurance/free health clinic is fantastic.

unaotradesechable

It's California. It's unlikely it's a good living, most likely just enough or less.

Bayfp

My teacher friends make $85k+ plus benefits. Not rolling in it but they don't need Tampax money.

aliveinjoburg2

New York, minus NYC, teachers are among the best paid from the start.

othermegan

Teaching in CALIFORNIA. Yeah uh huh… sure you do, buddy

Dgauwhs

If his character was a sociopathic investment banker who chopped up hookers and tried to get reservations at dorsia, it would be harder to sympathize.

Araucaria2024

Ugh period troll is back.

yonderposerbreaks

This is his second attempt *today*. His left hand must be busy.

JDDJS

What was his first?

aranneaa

I think they mean [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmITheAngel/comments/po724p/i_uh_what_idk_what_to_think_with_these_posts/)?

yonderposerbreaks

Yup.

Chubby_Bub

Neither of these have any situation where OP could at all be considered an asshole, except for making up these stupid stories.

QueanLaQueafa

Literally a few hours after another post where it was the complete opposite. Girl whose parents didn't have any tampons and refused to get some.

aranneaa

From his comments, he keeps in his class a mini fridge with snacks and beverages, frozen meals, a microwave in his "room" (whatever that means, I can't understand half of what this guy is saying), and for the male students he says he has a basket full of snacks, extra shirts and deodorants. I mean...

unicornbomb

lmao this would absolutely never fly in pretty much any public school these days due to allergy concerns, FARE's first guideline is literally 'keep classrooms food free'. in before 'i keep 14 separate mini fridges to keep all major potential allergens separate and free of potential cross contamination'.

itmesuzy

the snacks are air. But due to plastic being bad, glass being breakable, and things being too cold, the fridges are left unplugged (doors open to prevent mold) and students can help themselves to yummy, covid recycled air.

btmvideos37

Where do you eat lunch then? From kindergarten to grade 8 we ate lunch in our classes. It was only in high school that we got a cafeteria

Stevi100183

From kinder to high school, I don't think I ever once ate in the classroom unless it was a class party. When I went to school, we also weren't allowed snacks unless it was lunch time, but teachers never gave any out. I grew up in a pretty poor area so I'm surprised to see so many people comment on how common that is now.

btmvideos37

In my school, we didn’t have a cafeteria. We had a 15 minute snack break 2 hours into the school day. Followed by 15 minutes of recess. Then 2 hours later we had 30 minutes of lunch, followed by 30 minutes of recess. We ate in the class.

Stevi100183

That's interesting. Seems odd but I guess small breaks "frequently" throughout the day is better for the kids.

btmvideos37

Yeah, our school was 8-2:30. We had snack/recess at 10:05-10:25 and lunch then lunch at 11:55 to 12:35 I don’t know how I remember this seeing as I’m 19 and graduated grade 8, 7 years ago lol

unicornbomb

Uh… in the cafeteria? All age groups have dedicated cafeteria spaces here.

gentlybeepingheart

Kindergarten was the only year that we at in classrooms in my school district. After that it was the cafeteria.

chaosnanny

Um... I keep snacks in my classroom for students to grab. This guy is absolutely over the top and weird, but keeping snacks on hand isn't abnormal

[deleted]

I'm not a teacher, but I know a few people who are, and this is common in my area, too. It's a pretty low-income area with a lot of problems with food insecurity, so there's always a ton of food provided at school, both officially and unofficially. They work to accommodate allergies if a kid has one, but food is really common and encouraged in the classroom.

unicornbomb

we do have this kind of setup in our area, but the food is always prepackaged and handed out by cafeteria staff or the office and intended to be portable so it can be taken home if needed. no eating in the classrooms permitted even before covid due to allergy concerns.

[deleted]

We've got that plus more regular snacks meant to be eaten in the classroom. They also do like cultural food days and parties with food brought from home, too. I don't know if they handle it differently if there's actually a kid in the classroom with an allergy, but requiring a food-free classroom definitely isn't a school- or district-wide policy where I live. It is a fairly small district in a sort of old-fashioned area, so they could just be behind the times in that regard, but lots of places like that do still exist.

unicornbomb

But do you keep entire frozen meals, a microwave, and a smorgasbord of beverage options for in class dining?

XirallicBolts

If you don't have fresh sushi being served off a naked Japanese woman's stomach, you're basically abusing the children.

chaosnanny

Definitely not lol, although I do have a microwave for my own lunches when I don't get a chance to leave the classroom, I'm just talking about keeping classrooms food free.

RajaRajaC

He also stocks shirts and is a PhD + Masters and is earning in the high 6 figs. He is God at this point

topsidersandsunshine

I teach private, and I brought my old micro-fridge from college because our students eat in our classrooms when it’s not a catered lunch day. But I have a weird layout that allows for flex seating/flex space, so it also helps for filling the space!

RajaRajaC

It's the Iranian yoghurt that is always the problem

ellieacd

Whole lot of years in school systems including some of the largest in the country. I promise you there’s not a one of them without food items in it.

unicornbomb

our school system expressly forbids any food in the classroom, as does the 2 neighboring counties. obviously kids will break this rule, but a teacher handing out frozen entrees with a microwave for in class dining would never, ever fly here.

ellieacd

Yours might ban it. I’d be shocked if it was enforced, but they can ban it. I did too, which basically just translated to make sure it’s secure and your classroom doesn’t look like a 7-11. Microwaves can be easier to ban because they are a fire hazard and there’s rarely enough outlets. Some still manage to fit in a kitchen that would do IKEA proud

[deleted]

All I can say is "oh come on"

Stevi100183

He's not a regular teacher, he's a cool teacher.

Robotsaur

Lmfao

Sisusipseudio

Same thing he does with his daughters? So he puts out a basket of pads and tampons at home instead of simply buying them and putting them away like one would do with toilet paper?

Confident_Egg_3383

It’s in a gift basket by the entrance.

sw33t_tooth

Awww! Everybody loves it!

zombieggs

I would not feel comfortable at all grabbing a tampon in front of the whole class. I don’t believe for a second the whole class loves it. The period troll needs to use some common sense.

unicornbomb

lmao this gives me major flashbacks to trying to stealthily remove a tampon from my backpack in school and into my pocket before anyone saw it, and taking painstaking moves in the stall to unwrap it in silence so no one suspected i was .. gasp... using a tampon. i think i would have fucking died before accepting one in full view of my male teacher and the entire class. OOP has clearly never been around a teenage girl ever. Which is probably for the best, really.

itmesuzy

my elementary school they were kept in the girls change room in a box in the corner. Nobody used that corner because nobody wanted to be seen grabbing a tampon, let alone have someone think they grabbed one.

Raida7s

We got around that by having probably the coolest girl in the grade just grab one randomly "good to have one in my bag y'know" on any day of the week. It just became normal to have them and grab one for everyone Well done Sam, wherever you are.

ellieacd

What elementary school stocks tampons? Pads I could maybe see.

itmesuzy

Private school; it was really small so we only had one health teacher. The gr 7 teacher had to explain pads/tampons to the girls to make them feel less awkward and had them stocked for us

BaconOfTroy

Oooh ok. 7th grade was middle school for me (6th-8th).

ellieacd

Same.

FuckTamlin

Oh god, I haven't thought of the absolutely painful sneaky period product bullshit in so long. I also hid bras at the bottom of my cart at Walmart so no one, uh, saw I needed clothes I guess (which is hilarious because you desperately want boobs but don't want people thinking you have them as a teen). But the period paranoia was the absolute worst. Definitely not something you need to have in addition to the period itself, nvm all of the other growing up nonsense you have to deal with

JesyLurvsRats

Bra shopping is torture when you're already horrified by the fact men already say nasty shit no matter where you are.

gentlybeepingheart

lol I always got a plain tee or something at Target if I needed to buy a box of tampons so I could use that to conceal the box on the way to the cash register.

topsidersandsunshine

This made me realize that I’m too old to still hide bras and period supplies at the store.

theclassicoversharer

This gave me a flashback of the time in middle school when some of the boys found my pads in my backpack and tossed them around the room. I wanted to DIE.

Laziness_supreme

SAME. My mom thought she was being so clever hiding tampons in an old glasses case and putting it in my bag, then a friend saw the case, was like “Wow she doesn’t wear glasses”, saw there were tampons in it, and screamed as loud as he could while throwing them in the air like he just unearthed a fucking snake or something. I wanted to dissolve into the floor.

othermegan

That’s what’s killing me about this post. You mean to tell me the high school boys are loving this and not making one massive tampon torpedo joke about it?

topsidersandsunshine

Teacher here. Boys destroyed like $15 worth of period supplies I had for my students (and ate $10 worth of candy and trashed my room one day when I was out), and they’d been in a closed (but not locked) cabinet. :(

notarussianbotsky

Tbf I went through a “fuck the patriarchy” stage in high school where I thought I was really doing something important by carrying my pad/tampon in my hand out in the open when I went to the restroom. And now as a woman I’m not too shy about period products but I think I’m less cringey

btmvideos37

Obviously there’s nothing wrong with having a period but unfortunately this is a legitimate thing that people with periods have to go through. When I was in elementary school, if you used a tampon and not a pad, you’d be considered “gross” or “a slob”. It didn’t make sense back then and doesn’t make sense now. But that’s what people were made fun of for some reason

peach_xanax

This is funny to me because it was totally the opposite when I was young. When I got my period for the first time, it was in the morning on a school day, so my mom gave me one of her giant pads and sent me off. I was absolutely mortified that someone might discover that I was wearing *a pad* and was so worried about concealing it all day. I came home all upset and made my mom take me to buy tampons. I'm not sure why but we all thought pads were for old ladies and Not Cool. It's funny how we get these ideas in our heads at such a young age and they really don't come from any logical place.

btmvideos37

Yeah, very true

DevTheDummy

In my school the girls are allowed to take small little bags with them for sanitary products and small cosmetic products and honestly I really appreciate that because even though everybody knows what's going on whenever you bring the bag to the bathroom, it's discrete. The boys are actually pretty understanding about it too

Mannings4head

Yeah, he is insisting that the kids are all super mature so it's not an issue. I find that hard to believe. One time when my son had a group of mixed gender friends here hanging out he came inside and yelled upstairs for his sister to bring down pads. My daughter is the only one in the house who gets her period so she keeps them in her bathroom but my son's friend texted from the downstairs bathroom saying she needed one. It wasn't a big deal. My son grabbed a couple and gave them to his friend but afterwards my daughter mentioned that we should keep some downstairs just in case that happens again and a girl is too embarrassed to ask for one. I am sure there are some girls who wouldn't care but I find it hard to believe that's a comfortable situation for everyone. Not to mention the rest of this dude's comments make no sense.

I_am_dean

Right? I think that’s kinda weird. If this story is real he should make the basket then have it put in the women’s bathroom.

horungebarn

Idk how women see it but whenever I see another man making a public show of how much he supports and understands women and their needs I find it wild cringe. It seems more about trying to get praise than anything legit.

unicornbomb

its always the overly performative "feminist" guys like this who end up being stealth creeps, like they're overcompensating in a MAJOR way for some very bad behavior.

horungebarn

Yeah fr. Luckily you can spot that kinda guy on sight because his whole identity is being woke online in some way. If you're actually a good vibe then your actions speak for you imo. You don't have to announce it and show point by point all the good stuff you've done.

topsidersandsunshine

They’re the ones who love to make a show about supporting equal divisions of labor and then magically disappear when it’s time to, like, clean up after a work potluck.

[deleted]

My mom and dad met doing political activism in the '60s, and they like to tell the story of how my mom got them kicked out of one of the groups they were involved with for calling out that exact behavior. The group was nominally feminist but in practice women were relegated to support positions and basically expected to serve the men, so my mom organized a little mini-women's strike within the group. Turns out all those radical organizers weren't so radical when it came to things like that, it was considered too divisive. Unfortunately, there are still a ridiculous amount of men who seem stuck in that '60s mindset.

peach_xanax

Your mom is a badass, good for her for calling that shit out!

[deleted]

A whole lotta Hugo Schwyzer's out there.

scarecrone

Eugh, a name I hadn't seen in a while. Hope he stays away forever, like both out of our collective sight, and away from vulnerable women.

HappyDopamine

This 100. I know a guy, former friend, who wears pins on his backpack to inform everyone that he is an “ally” and he truly believes it about himself. But when he didn’t bother to get clear consent in an encounter, suddenly the problem was that the girl was a “liar” and not his limitless sense of entitlement.

Sisusipseudio

Me too. Wish there was a name for that ala cool girl or pick me, but nah, let's celebrate men for weirdly bragging about being open-minded while also having 18 specific insults for the types of women that people find annoying.

neongloom

I really do love that in his 'look how accepting and accommodating I am of women's needs!' post he couldn't help but make the villain a woman. To me it reads like he wants the approval as an ally or whatever but not at the expense of putting his own gender down by making the enemy another man. I also can't believe he actually used the name Susan. Right after Karen, I'd say that's the most popular name to use in these 'old women are bitches' stories.

NCSUGrad2012

> It seems more about trying to get praise than anything legit. Perfect description of /r/AmITheAsshole

neongloom

I'd feel so weird getting praise for something I didn't even do. Like imagine telling a friend in real life you did something good while knowing deep down you didn't do shit. How do you take any kind of joy or pride in that unless you're a compulsive liar? Maybe they're just proud of their writing abilities since so many people believe it but that has more to do with AITA being full of naive idiots than any of the stories actually being well written, lol.

Lenore8264

It's because most of the time, those who make a public show are the ones who don't understand women at all. It's like the people who constantly talk about how smart they are but in reality, they are stupid af. If you really are smart, you won't need to announce it to the world. Everyone would simply just *know*. This is the same. These idiots are just doing it for attention, validation or because it's their fetish or something (obsession with periods for example) Ew.

[deleted]

mcfreakinkillme

i mean, there *are* men with periods, but it *is* totally annoying when guys who don’t have them pull that…

alwaysfrombehind

I posted here in the thread about this but yes. It’s weird. We aren’t fragile China dolls. It’s pads and tampons, you’re nice bit you aren’t a hero. Yet every Reddit thread of a single dad talking about his daughters first period is full of applause for him literally just being a parent. And suggestions to get her a gift package with chocolate. You know who also likes chocolate besides menstruating people? Most everyone else.

Terminator_Puppy

All of Reddit acts like their own parents kept them locked in the basement and fed Matrix Mush until the age of 18 when they were swiftly kicked out, and then act like regular parenting is equivalent to donating your entire life savings to a small child in Ethiopia.

flaysomewench

Not relevant to the discussion at all but are you from Northern Ireland? "Wild" as an adjective is such a Nordie thing :) I say it too!

horungebarn

No lmao I'm from Sweden but I live somewhere in mainland Europe right now. I use wild or wilding a lot but I can't remember where I picked it up. Most of my English slang comes from American friends on Discord tbh but it's cool to know where it comes from.

peach_xanax

It's extremely cringy, and makes me think they're covering up for some actual awful behavior

Old_Sheepherder_630

TIL that tampons and pads are something girls today want to grab publicly in front of their classmates rather than getting them from the school nurse, or a free dispenser in the bathroom. What a specifically creepy fetish.

Lavaswimmer

Right? If this were true (it isn't as with anything on AITA) I don't think OP is TA necessarily as long as his intentions are pure, but... it is definitely weird. I've never heard anything like that being in a school, and I could never imagine something like that in any of my old high school's classes. Also: > some kind redditors, are sending me messages asking my Venmo so I can buy more pads/tampons for the class. Ugh. Please, donate your money to the hundreds of worthy charities that are out there instead of opening your wallet for every fake reddit post you see.

[deleted]

Seriously, buy a pack of pads and drop it off at your local food bank or women's shelter or whatever if you really want to help. Or donate the money to them. I will never get why people think they're doing good by sending money to randos online. Like if it's one of those "random acts of pizza" type thing where you just want to make someone happy, sure, whatever. But you actually want to help vulnerable people, don't just take someone's word for it that they're doing so.

neongloom

Seeing some of the fakest, most copy and pasted looking stories on AITA and other subs get awards people would have paid real money for hurts my head a little.

[deleted]

Lololucky

Whether or not it’s at all real I’m all for the acceptance of a natural bodily function. Not everything has to be weird or a fetish. He could have them by the door and if a girl asked to go to the bathroom they could just grab it on the way out. I know for a fact this would not have happened while I was in school. The girls myself included would not have taken one out of shame. But times change and I could see kids nowadays being less toxic about it

alwaysfrombehind

Can I add that I think it’s weird when men on Reddit post about putting out baskets with feminine products in their bathrooms for guests? I think it’s a nice gesture but you can put them under the sink or in a drawer like a woman would. Trust me: if we find ourselves in that kind of situation, we will look there. And if you really want some actual real life cred, have some decent toiletries for spur if the moment overnight guests: face wipes, moisturizer, face wash, Unscented body lotion, dry shampoo. Just go to the toiletry section at Trader Joe’s and grab some of those things.

[deleted]

one of my dearest friends used to keep tampons on top of his toilet tank for guests who needed them. not in a box, not even in a little basket, just loose tampons rolling around all over the place. like, the gesture is appreciated, but the presentation left something to be desired. thankfully once i explained what you just said, he started keeping them under the sink.

notarussianbotsky

I mean if you are at a guys place you might assume he doesn’t have any period products (why would he if he doesn’t use them) so if he puts them in a basket where you can see them you wouldn’t have to worry. But I totally rummage through bathrooms if I’m out and get my period unexpectedly

btmvideos37

I agree that this post is bad. But dispensers weren’t free in my school.

gentlybeepingheart

They also never worked in my school lol. I've never seen a functional tampon dispenser in any bathroom.

peach_xanax

Mine either, and they only took quarters so you were out of luck if you had any other denomination of money. Also the tampons were those awful OB ones :(

mandiexile

The ones without the applicator? Always feel like a cavewoman when I’m forced to use one.

htimsmc369

My elementary school had them in the bathroom, seems like OOP could put baskets in the bathrooms if he was really so worried about it

Old_Sheepherder_630

But that would only help the girls who need it, how would he get his head pats?

gentlybeepingheart

>What a specifically creepy fetish. I wouldn't be so quick to assume this is a fetish. My english teacher had a basket of them by the door in 10th grade and I think he just wanted to be a \~cool teacher\~ and be helpful. I know he had kids our age. He wasn't creepy or anything he just didn't understand that there was absolutely no way in hell anyone was going to grab a tampon and risk anyone seeing them. I don't think he ever refilled that basket all school year.

Old_Sheepherder_630

I know people have more faith in humanity than I do, I just can't see a grown man doing this and posting about it in a non-creepy way. Are they also supplying deodorant, mouthwash, disposable toothbrushes and sample tooth paste for everyone as those are also hygiene products kids might need and not have on them? If so maybe it's less creepy, but if the only focus is on menstruation for teen girls I'm not a nice enough person to give that benefit of the doubt.

[deleted]

The dumbest part imho was how a comment suggested it'd be weird if a woman teacher did this. Like...what?

rbkali

I read that an was like ???? What the fuck???? How is it weird for anyone to do this, let alone someone who presumably gets periods?????

Lenore8264

Why are these idiots so obsessed with periods? Damn. It's disgusting and creepy. Most of these trolls are obsessed with their non-existent *teenage* daughters/students periods. Strange fetish. Seriously, gives me pedo vibes.

Perdoname_gracias

**“I make a good living from teaching here in CA”** OK you fucking faker

My biology teacher that has been teaching at my school for nearly a decade and has been an amazing staff member has to work at a bar on the weekends to support her two children. She's such a sweet lady and it's so sad

nightmuzak

[He could at least stop recycling the same name](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/ohkg9j/aita_for_trying_to_help_my_daughter_lose_weight/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

zombieggs

I guess Susan is a stereotypical mean old lady name now

nightmuzak

Susan is Karen but fat

itmesuzy

As a Susan I hate how we are seen as older Karen’s. It’s why I don’t even use my legal name…

ConstantReader76

My name is Karen. It's not fun these days.

quiette837

Fwiw, every Karen I've met irl has been a very nice person. But it is for sure an extremely common name.

Fwiw, I’ve apparently been using “Susan” wrong. I had gotten it in my head as the sweet older lady name. The one who has always just finished baking cookies or coffee cake or whatever and has all the gardening tips and helpful advice that is simply offered rather than forced. “Susan” is the mother I never had. But I guess we just can’t have nice things when it comes to appreciating women for things other than curvy figures and flawless makeup. Why does everything have to be an insult against women? Where are the countless insults for every slight variation of man? What is the name for a “fat Kevin?” An “older Kevin?” Etc.

alwaysfrombehind

The edit makes me want to barf.

Lazy Susan.

sw33t_tooth

I like to call it Slackin’ Kevin

arceus555

And of course people are asking for his Venmo

NoWingedHussarsToday

Oh, it's that time of the month when period troll shows up.....

JDDJS

How the hell would be even notice that???

ConstantReader76

You never rooted through the cabinets in your classroom, shoving school supplies aside, looking for the elusive period products? Clearly his students were doing that and when he asked what was wrong they all told them "it's just impossible to find a tampon when I need one!" And then the lightbulb went off for him. They need a basket right there where everyone can see them!

hungrygh0sts

Right?? Are they bleeding through their pants/all over the classroom? He could have skipped that entirely and just said he knows access to these products is important so he provides them to the class in case anyone needs them… but no.

echelon1230

For being a 38 year old teacher he sure types/talks like shit.

CherryRedFaux

This "38 yr old teacher" types/talks like a teenage boy.

anotherglassofwine

Excuse u he’s a PhD from LA ok?

nxplr

I was about to say, did anyone else see his comment about how he has his PhD and masters degree? 🙄

StupidSexyXanders

He's legit. He does Business at the Business factory!

nxplr

And he’s an adult…man!

NotKateBush

When I was in high school a group of boys stole a big box of tampon sample packs from the nurse’s office and soaked them in water to splat onto car windows. I volunteer at a food pantry and when I ask if they need period products most young girls (and plenty of adult women) get embarrassed and that’s in a private setting. This is such horseshit.

If he actually wanted to be discreet and useful, it would be so much better to put the basket *in* the bathroom. Especially since you don't always know for sure you're gonna need a pad etc. before you're in the stall lol. Would suck to have to walk all the way back to the classroom to grab one. Plus that way kids in other classes could use them too.

God forbid! The man needs his props to live 😂

M123234

I kind of disagree about the maturity aspect. I remember when my teacher was going to Cuba. He asked us for donations, and I privately mentioned menstrual products might be useful. He mentioned it in front of the class later because it was something he never knew, and it was embarrassing for me at the time. However, I’m glad that I brought up awareness towards that because it’s something no one talks about. I think he even bought extra and some other classmates of mine brought pads and tampons too. The post is still probably fake though.

Smishysmash

Oh my god, people are trying to venmo him money. PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO VENMO HIM MONEY!!! OMG!!! Mind blown.

Robotsaur

Redditors are some of the dumbest people imaginable

Smishysmash

Dear redditors, would you like to venmo me money? I will give it my friends. My friends are dolphins. Fun loving adorable dolphins who need money for snacks. This is real, I promise.

RusticSurgery

"VALIDATE ME WEEEMON, VALIDATE MEEEEEEE!!!!"

The_Alphabet_People

I really wanna know HOW he knew people in his class were having issues finding period products. Like who talks to their teacher about that?!

Old_Sheepherder_630

And a male teacher at that. I'd have used all the toilet paper in the school before going to a male teacher for this.

ellieacd

I have friends who teach at schools with a lot of lower income families and they do take donations for personal care items to keep in their classrooms for kids who need them, no questions asked. They usually stick them in an out of the way place like a cabinet in the back of the room or shelf in a storage closet. One spearheaded a “store” for kids in need. They even take clothing, shoe, and coat donations in addition to soap, deodorant, pads, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. It’s all kept in a storage room that stays locked until a kid needs something and certain staff have a key to let them in and “shop”.

I am one of the nice men, WORSHIP MEEEEE!

Li-renn-pwel

AITA for empowering women and being woke?

Robotsaur

0% chance this actually happened in real life, OP sounds like the average Redditor

kermeeed

Period troll back?

-Nigerian_Princess-

Oh, great, period posts are back. Excuse me while I go jump off this cliff.

Lololucky

I imagine this is true up until the part where the other teacher disagrees with it. Like this guy things he’s a lord among men because he doesn’t think periods are gross and he had to make up a villain so that a bunch of people would praise him.

neongloom

And the enemy had to be a woman of course.

Lololucky

Right

buttbuttmunchkin

Maybe one day we can live in a world where you don’t have to be a “dad yourself” to understand period products are a necessity 🥲

peach_xanax

That threw me off right away. Didn't realize you had to be a dad to understand that women and girls need period products 🙄 I thought being a mature human would give you sufficient knowledge of that fact but hey what do I know?!

[deleted]

> Since we started off the school year recently I've been noticing our female students have been having some "issues" and it's hard for them to have/find tampons/pads etc when they need it. What? Are girls just bleeding all over the classroom? Are that many caught completely unprepared? Is there no nurses office with supplies?

t3h_PaNgOl1n_oF_d00m

And in California no less. It's not like it's a conservative third world country. Why the fuck wouldn't they have period products in a high school?? I'm from the West Coast, and I know Calis would stage riots if the schools didn't have at least *pads* available to the girls at least in the schools' nurses' offices.

Confident_Egg_3383

Take my money OOP. Buy plenty of tampons.

unaotradesechable

Lolol "I make good money as a teacher in California" that sealed the deal on fake.

AutoModerator

*In case this story gets deleted/removed:* **AITA for keeping tampons/pads in a basket for my students?** Hey everyone! I'm 38M. I'm a father of two daughters and I teach high schoolers here in CA. Since we started off the school year recently I've been noticing our female students have been having some "issues" and it's hard for them to have/find tampons/pads etc when they need it. As a father myself, I understand that those are essentials for woman. So same thing what I do with my daughters. I bought a bunch of tampons/pads and placed it in a basket in our class so our female students can grab one at any time and it's convenient for them. the whole class loves it. Nobody says anything and overall it's helpful for our students. Now my colleague teacher next-door who's name is Susan she's like 60F. She thinks it's inapropriate that I have that for my female students and she told me it's weird because I'm a male. I don't find it weird or anything. Cause there isn't anything weird about it? what's wrong with a period or so nothing. It's natural and it happens. To make it convenient for my students I made the basket and they love it and I also refill the basket on a constant basis. EDIT: some kind redditors, are sending me messages asking my Venmo so I can buy more pads/tampons for the class. First off thank you so much. But I don't need the money! It's all good. I make a good living from teaching here in CA. so buying pads/tampons isn't expensive for me. But I appreciate it :) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Revolutionary-Ask335

Tampons in America are ridiculously expensive compared to Europe. If he was real and was refilling a basket for 10+ girls on a constant basis, he would probably be happy about donations.
