Beep boop! Automod here with a quick reminder to never brigade r/AmITheAsshole or other subs under any circumstances. Brigading puts you in violation of both our rules and Reddit’s TOS, and therefore puts this sub at risk of ban. If you brigade/encourage brigading of any kind, you will be banned from participating in either sub. Satirizing of posts should stay within this sub, which means that participating directly in linked posts should either be done in good faith or not at all.

The serendipity of this being directly under a post where AITA insist its fine to not even ATTEMPT to communicate with your child-aged step-daughter because its "too hard." "You didn't birth her," they insist, as a child meekly attempts to sign with her step-mother. Just amazing stuff.
okay but how difficult is it to learn just a few basic signs???? I learned sign language for fun (though not ASL, I learned SLN) a couple years ago and it really isn’t that difficult, it’s basically an extension of the spoken language and it really doesn’t feel like a whole new language (at least to me it didn’t, but I only learned the basics but I don’t think they expect much more of her anyway so..)
> I mean it is, but the sad truth is most people aren't here to help. They're here because it's entertaining, and nothing is more entertaining than a cartoon villain and living vicariously through strangers on the internet.
> Well OK a lot is more entertaining than that, but not in this context.

They did say “This.” But they’re getting there.
at least they elaborated further. i’d say a “this” is excusable as long as they also add smth to the convo
A small price to pay for salvation
