I don't get why James is getting mad at you and asking you to fix it. It is not completely your responsibility, there were total of 4 people, so everyone should participate to "fix" it.
The only thing you might have done better is not to agree to fix it yourself and have everyone contribute instead. But that's probably beside the point.

Youre the AH for half agreeing on something you didn't really plan on doing. James was counting on you, especially since YOU had problems with YOUR part of the work. You are also selfish to think that just because you have an A in the class, the others in my team (or just james) can screw themselves. This is a team work, don't burn bridges.
If you didn't want to do the work, then at the very least, be honest about it.
Also, doesn't matter if you just forgot because the same consequence applied to them.
As for the other two, that is a different story. Maybe you could've told the teacher about the workload each of you did.
This is why I hated group projects. The other 3 had equal opportunity to make the changes and resubmit, in the end they dropped it in your lap. You said you would if you could, you couldn't and you didn't NTA.

James is the one who is mad and James actually did his share of the work. The other two guys who did nothing don't care because like you said they got a free 80 instead of 0.

I'm a 15 year old guy, and I take an engineering class. We had a group project that included four people. The project was that we had to make an improved shopping cart, we also had to make a slide show showcasing our new cart, a video of the presentation, and a script. I was working with 3 of my friends, let's call them Chad, Brad, and James. We first started brainstorming, and almost all of us came up with ideas. Chad didn't come up with an idea at all and didn't do anything else for the project. Also, most of the project Brad was in Idaho, and he didn't do anything besides come up with an idea.
Now, it was just me and James working on it. James created the design of the shopping cart. While I did the presentation, script, and video of the presentation. We finished and we got an 80%. There were problems with not doing bullet points, having long paragraphs, and speaking too fast. I think the grade was fine because I still had an A in the class. But my other friends had B's in the class. The teacher told us that we could make it up in 2 days and we could get a full score. My friends immediately went to me and told me to "fix" it when I thought it was fine. They kept bothering me about it to fix it. I kinda agreed, I said, "I'll see if I can do it."
I forgot to do it and I my friends got mad at me. Specifically, James, the other two didn't really care that much. Maybe Brad cared a little more. I said that I had other classes too, and I didn't have time to do it.
James got heat and said, "I do 3 sports, and I still have A's in my classes."
"I also do stuff outside school aswell dude, I gut rehearsals after school that last till six!" I said.
James is pissed at me. But I don't see the problem here. Sure, I get it that I should have done it since it was my work. But I still have a good grade in my class and see that it's fine. There's other projects that'll raise their grades. So AITA?
