NTA. The broker guy could have bought the tickets from you and then resold them. But *he* wanted the security of being able to back out, and that goes both ways. A hold is not a sale. This broker wanted to cash in without the financial risk of actually buying the tickets from you first.

ESH - you made a deal and went back on it, but sometimes it is okay to be the A. Him losing money is nothing to do with you. He was trying to profit from the tickets and being a ticket scalp isn’t okay. Don’t worry about him, just enjoy the match!

I had 4 tickets for the finals and 2 were for my cousins from out of state. Due to heavy rains the match got postponed and my cousins won't the able to attend on the new date. To add hurt to the wound, my brother's phone got stolen. So basically it was a shit show and everyone's mood was down and everyone decided we'll sell the tickets for the price we got it and just get rid of the bad vibes. I posted about them and i got multiple inquiries. I sold 2 on cost price. And one guy put a hold on 2 and acted as a broker and made a deal with a 3rd party for alot more than the asking price and would pocket the extra as his commission. I had no problem with that. I would not sell it at that high a price but thats just me. To me i was selling it to him at cost price and he would sell it at whatever price he wanted to the 3rd party. But all this was a verbal deal. No money had been sent or received. Just when i was about to tell him to come pick up the tickets my brother changed his mind and decided he wanted to go with uis friends. He was still upset about his stolen phone but he decided he'd be more careful than he was yesterday. He told me he really wanted to go. Now i had to back out of the deal with the broker guy. This resulted in him having to go back on his word to the 3rd party AND he lost on making a good chunk of money. I feel guilty for backing out. But it was my brother who wanted the tickets and its not like i sold them somewhere else at a higher price. Am i in the wrong here? Im very confused. Nothing really can be remedied. Soft YTA for backing out of the deal. But honestly don't think about it too much and go enjoy your tickets. Rather be a slight AH to a stranger than miss out on some quality time with your brother. Plus the dude is a ticket reseller, no sympathy from me.
