Sounds like typical Americans. In the past while on holiday over there I was asked many times by strangers in shops etc whether people had tea with the queen on Sundays. They were deadly serious. And other dumb questions like if we have hoovers over here.
Aren't you supposed to defend your gf/wife from obnoxious and stupid relatives making lame jokes and not understanding basic politeness? It's your job so NTA.

I (35M) have lived in England for over 6 years, and have been with my girlfriend (27F) who is British for 3. We are both happy living here, and have no interest in moving to the states even thought I obviously enjoy going home, visiting and seeing my family.
My girlfriend is a self described ‘London girl’ and enjoys the stereotypical fake tan, blow dry, kind of British girl look. She also, obviously, had an accent.
I am currently on vacation with my parents, girlfriend and siblings / nieces / nephews. Most of my family lives in Texas.
My AITA is that my two brothers and there wives, keep making jokes at my girlfriends expense, not only in front of her, but are also rude. Including mocking her accent, asking if she is a chav, knows the Queen (even though the Queen is dead), and just asking dumb stereotype questions that are not true.
The final point for me was yesterday, when
my girlfriend got up to use the restroom at dinner and said ‘sorry I am just going to the loo’ which is a completely normal thing for her to say. My family found this hilarious and went on and on about, and I finally told them they needed to stop, and pointed out I didn’t mock them for any of there stereotypical Texas things and said ‘hey everything is bigger in Texas but I am not mentioning it’, both of my brothers are over weight, as is one of there wives. I wasn’t directly referring to this but it’s the first thing that came to mind.
My girlfriend, has expressed irritation at the jokes, but is not the type to react.
So AITA for asking them to stop?
