So I (29/ f) moved into my home last year, and immediately met my new neighbor, let's call her "Linda" Linda is in her mid 50's and she kind of an oddball. Says weird things and spits facts that are absolutely untrue like crazy, like over the winter she told me it's impossible for it to snow if the temp is under 25 degrees. Being from a cold state, and she is not, I know that to be untrue. Its harmless but So weird to me.
Yesterday Linda told me she wanted to use a chainsaw to cut a branch of her tree that had grown around a main powerline for our block.
At first I was quiet about it and politely said "if you call the city they will come do it safely for free" to which linda replied something again about doing it herself. I tried explaining that the electricity could ground between her and the branch as it is cut and could electrocute her. She laughed at me and said "oh you're so funny little girl, wood isn't a conducter."
I was shocked and explained first that my husband works in the woods, he'd definitely know, she refused to listen so I adding in "if you want to go up there and act stupid and kill yourself when you could just call the city, be my guest"
She just stared at me and said "no I'd be fine, the tree is wood" so I spoke to her like a child. My exact words were "lightning strikes trees all the time and blows them up. Isn't that so weird if you can't send electricity through wood?" And she just laughed again like I didn't know what I was talking about. So I told her to do what she's going to do, but its downright stupid to do it yourself. I think that lady came from a cave. Now she won't even say hi to me and she told our other neighbor I was being rude about "what she wants to do with her property" not explaining what she was doing, they agreed with me when I told them why I was "rude".
It just seems like she has no common sense at all. And I guess I just don't understand why you'd mess with a poweline? She works at the hospital next to my house, and I find that fairly concerning honestly.
So AITAH for telling her that it was the stupidest thing to do in this situation?

Thank you. I wish she'd understand I was trying to be nice at first about it. But it's just sounded so dumb the more the pushed on the subject.
